I like the settlement stuff, but it could have been made easier and probably a little scaled back in my opinion

Can't believe I bought a PS4 just for this......what was I thinking?! Ha! I HATE FPS games but love how this one plays out!

I guess I should have read this post sooner. I cleared the water treatment plant at level 9......that was FUN.

My only question, and I assume its a dumb one and I just missed the answer. What are the numbers in the VATS system? I always aim for chest or head but wasn't sure what the numbers were.

The "tutorial" for this game is pretty awful. As evidenced by the question above.

The vats numbers are your percentage to hit the target.

Also, does anyone else use the PipBoy App that didn't get a PipBoy edition? I figured it would only let me do a few minor things, but Jesus this thing is awesome.......

Just ran into the suicidal Super Mutant last night carrying the mini-nuke. Sucked. Luckily, I had saved earlier. Also, cleared the Castle out. I like that area a lot more than any other settlement.

Playing on survival mode, early in the game is ROUGH. ammo is scarce and you die if you get sneezed on.

I learned to run. A LOT.

Not playing on survival just hard, but not having too much of a challenge ... I am jumpy by nature so I default to playing a sneaky sob since FO3 where I was constantly getting surprised running across the wasteland.
In FO4 with ghouls that just decide to jump out you I am definitely just strolling along slow and sneaky.

I can't find ammo anywhere now. I have to resort to chems,(which are running low) dogmeat, and some ****ty melee weapon.

Power armor is a must. I found an old sentry bot I was able to self-destruct through a terminal. The fusion cores should be enough to get me through a quest or 2.

Survival mode, really forces you make use of EVERYTHING you have. Caps, chems, gear etc.

This long after a huge nuke war like that, I'd bet survival mode would actually be pretty easy lol

Ya but survivor is worth it for loot and exp. started on survivor at level 24 and after a few days already at level 45. Also picked up some great stuff. I look forward to playing on PC once I upgrade but and having a blast on xb1.

I wonder if Bethesda cares how these games look. They know the modding community is going to come in and put a nice aftermarket sheen on the game, so they don't have to.

This is also probably a lot of carry over from all of the modding that happened in Skyrim.

Welp...finally crossed the 50 hour mark and something happened....I got bored.

Never thought it would happen. Didn't feel like ****ing around with settlements anymore. I don't care about my little lost boy. Never did. I've cleared about 30 places.

There is quite a bit of content in this game for sure...but it seems to be all similar more or less. I've tried switching up my gameplay. Gone from super sneaky sniper guy to rage all over the place with my fists and knives. That was actually really fun for a while. But now I'm level 35 and have done the snipey guy, the spray and pray guy, and now the beat everything to pieces with boards and sledgehammers guy. What else is there left?

In a weird funk about it now. I actually stopped playing Fallout 4 to play something else. Anyone else reach this point yet?

I think this is where my biggest weakness comes through. I inherently play a bad guy in RPG's and love it. Hell I live it. But you simply can't in Fallout 4. Sure you can be a **** but a true bad guy? Nope. Not an option. I am actually extremely underwhelmed bu the dialogue. They have regressed so far from literally every other single Fallout game out there(2 was amazing). And the fact that the dialogue system is obviously a very bad port from consoles makes it worse. I'm a PC master race dude and now after 50 hours I can tell that this is essentially a console game. A lot of shortcuts and options just don't exist.

Ok rant over. I guess my honeymoon period is over tis all. And the Fallout series is my most favorite gaming series of all time hands down.

I'm at about 28 hours in. Haven't played since Sunday though. I find its best when you walk away for a little bit even if not finished. Prob will finish main story Sunday.

How about changing the difficulty? And in case you didn't know, those places you cleared can be reinhabitted.

Finally got a chance to play a long session yesterday. Level 21 and still have not ventured to Diamond City.

Cleared the hospital last night (damn you suiciders). I saw one of those coming down the stairs along eith a bunch of molotov so I noped outside to get more room to fight. I did not realize mobs would chase you outside so 5 seconds later, i had about 6 supermutants pile out the door with the suicider in back. He blew all of us up right outside.

I always try to let dogmeat go after them and hope they detonate on him. But usually with the .50 cal rifle, a headshot will take them down.

When you guys put a wall around a settlement, do you drop foundations first to make sure to get them completely level? Or just spam uneven walls everywhere?

What does putting a wall around it do? Increase defense rating? Seems like a lot of work.

Apparently walls don't help a defense rating, but they do funnel attackers toward your defenses

Quick question, I'm trying to build a manse, and following the outline of the slab, but I always have gaps between the walls I erect and the doorway, since there are no walls small enough to fill the gaps, how do you make them flush?
