What level did you get to before realizing this?

I just beat the game. I went tunnel vision all day and stayed on the main story. I think I picked the right ending for my character.

Time to set this down.....72 hours.....

Assuming that it will take at least two play-throughs to get all of the faction trophies? From what I understand is you're with the Minutemen regardless what you choose, but have to choose between The Railroad, BoS, and one other.

Yeah. I chose the Minutemen by accident.

I got too far in their quest line when my other faction quests failed.

I think I am as far as I can go with the BOS, RR, and MM before being stuck with one. Going to try and do a couple quests for the one not mentioned before I make a choice what to do.

Like....13. Everyone was talking about how the perk chart was simplified, so I didn't think twice about only seeing 4 levels of perks.

I'm up to 25 and the game is starting to finally get easier. Deathclaws no longer scare me, yeah they can knock my health down a lot but I've got the firepower to take them down quickly. I primarily use a modded combat rifle that shoots .45 rounds that I have over 2000 bullets for that does 80 damage. I also have a fully modded .50cal with a suppressor that does 107 damage. And I've only taken the rifleman perk 3 times, I definitely plan on maxing it out once I get to the appropriate levels.

I plan on doing as many missions for each faction until it makes me choose and then I'm going with the BoS. Hopefully I can get the railroad gun from the Railroad before I piss them off, I got excited when I saw the RR spikes as ammo available to purchase in diamond city so I knew it was back in the game.

I'm about to finish the sanctuary mission and turn it into an operating settlement but I'm not gonna put a whole lot time into it to and make it a badass place, I'm saving my time and effort for the castle location which I already cleared out. I don't plan on opening more than 2 or 3 settlements. I like that aspect of the game but I also didn't buy fallout 4: sim city.

This game easily gets my game of the year vote.

I hit level 28 yesterday and am enjoying it, but, The Witcher 3 is still my game of the year and the best thing I've played since The Last of Us. I'll get my money's worth from this one and will play it to completion, but it seems like an addition to Fallout 3 compared to a real new, next-gen game.

This game has been enjoyable to explore, and that's really what I enjoy in this series, but I haven't really felt too connected to whatever the story is supposed to be. Not really loving the perk system... feel like I mostly just level crafting perks over other things as it seems that upgraded crafting gives me more of a damage gain than perks like Rifleman. Looking forward to mods hopefully getting this game up to its potential graphics and gameplay wise, but I wish Bethesda could have done that on its own. And what is up with the Fallout 3 looking character models?

The Minutemen are technically neutral, you can do BoS, RR, or a third faction (won't post incase of spoiler) and still be aligned with the MM. I think they are really only thrown in to get you making settlements early on.

I haven't gotten their but my understanding is that the third faction (I will PM it to you if you wish ... I don't think it is a major spoiler) will give you a strong weapon (I have heard but not sure what it is)

Depending on what type of weapons you use, you might not want to chose BOS.

You should definitely join the BoS. They give you a full T-60 power armor and several quests. Just because you join them doesn't mean you are stuck with them. I am in all the factions right now. About to hit the point where I have to choose though since the quests are starting to conflict with each other.

I have almost 90 hours in and have only done like five of the 'main' missions. I have been gathering and building up the surrounding settlements. I never realize how fast time goes while playing this game.

How do you get the fencing/walls up around the settlements without gaps?

There's a trick with a floor rug to get things to snap. One of the earlier pages had something from reddit

I haven't been doing settlements too much but I'm lvl 24 and just started the BoS stuff.

Just walking around looking for things to kill with my .50 sniper rifle. Problem is most guys I kill are on rooftops, so I have to clear the build to get to the loot!

Unfortunately I've only had one instance of clearing a location, then getting a mission for the same location later on. Hoping for others for all the stuff I've cleared.

This place is just buggy as hell. I think it was the quest causing it to happen. Since I'm done with it they seem to no longer go on top of the house. I believe you are correct about fast travel.

Other thing to prevent snapping to other walls. Just place a wall down anywhere, step back as far as you can but can still select it, select the top of the wall, and then place it where you want by looking down at your feet.

Using the tcl command to turn off 'collisions' there is a kinda trick to using it as shown in the video below.

Just cleared vault 75. Man that was one ****ed up vault.

I have YET to figure out how to tell how many rads I have in numeric form. Yes there is orange shading on the HP bar and a needle on the pip boy but it is obtuse.

I don't have any complaints about it!

That one doesn't bother me at all to be honest. Some of the other things though that would be useful to know that You simply aren't told continue to irritate me. I am not a min/max kind of player but certain things are cool to know.

For example. I learned earlier today that your population cap at settlements is your Charisma level +10(with additional CHA perk bumps from equipment enabling you to supersede the hard cap).

So now I am here looking at 30 beds and 40 food in Sanctuary. I had zero idea why I couldn't get my pop past 18.

WHY ARE THESE KINDS OF THINGS NOT MADE CLEAR?!

Everything about settlements isnt clear... You kind of have to pieces of information everywhere

Reddit r/falloutsettlements and r/fo4 have some good info.
