We need to build with youth. No chance of short term success IMO.
Yeah, I'd trade Parsons for 2 first picks tomorrow. Go for broke now.

Yep. And we need to focus on building at a minimum a too 10 OL. We're currently towards the very bottom of the league, and not the position you want to be in with one of the most important positional groups for your team.

Listening to the most recent draft show; Broaddus hearing the knee injury on Josh Simmons is not sounding good.

Guaranteed he'll be our second round pick if that's the case.

Daniel Jeremiah said yesterday that there are 24 starting DTs in the draft!

The Cowboys hear value by the the 25th DT in a late rounds while drafting an RB and QB in the first two rounds.

Jerry's taking a playmaker in the first round. His quarterback AND his brand desperately need one.

It won't happen but trading Dak for Tua and either 2nd this year and next or 2nd and 3rd round draft pick seems like a reasonable move.

Miami gets a qb they don't have to worry about getting hurt. Dallas doesn't have to admit they are tanking but if Tua goes down they can then sell.

Dallas can then draft a qb in the draft without getting grief and prepare for a chance in 3 years once Phillys core group gets too expensive / old.

Would you trade your first and second this year to get Quinnen Williams from the Jets, and if not, what would you give up to get him?

Putting the $100M dead cap hit the cowboys would take aside, Tua and Dak have played the same amount of games the last four seasons so I'm not sure the injury argument really holds water.

Tua is one big hit from dying at this point (hyperbole, hopefully). It clearly made him a shell of what he was before his last concussion though.

24 Defensive Lineman or 24 DT's ? I highly doubt there are 24 starting DT's in one draft -

DTs only! He said there were only 12 last year. Didn't mention DEs.

Only 2 people shot at the Eagles parade. That's probably an improvement for them

I'd like a trade down.

Get this kid and then grab Junkin or Hampton in the 2nd at RB.

I would be for this...

The Cowboys' all-in mantra is back, baby. Jerry Jones isn't going to sit on his hands and watch the NFC East run away from him, so he trades two first-rounders (this year's and next year's) for Myles Garrett, while the Browns get a new centerpiece for their offense. It would take some creative salary cap maneuvering for Dallas to make it happen, but Micah Parsons has already said he'd take less if it meant he would get to play opposite Garrett.

Man, I would love to have Micah and Myles on the same defensive line. But if this projection is accurate, Osa is as good as gone:

Would suck (but also be the most Cowboys thing ever) to have two all-world defensive ends who never get any sacks because teams can just run up the middle all day.

Wouldn't surprise me if they use the franchise tag on him.

Most of the contract predictions for him I've heard or seen have hovered around 20, so I'm not all that surprised. I still really think they need to do all they can to sign him or tag him if they want to be competitive for a wildcard next year. If they let him walk I think you're pretty much punting on the d line and thus on the defense as a whole next year.

That's a lot of money for a guy who was barely a top 40 interior DL by PFF last year.

That would put him right ahead of Javon Hargrove (also well ahead of Ed Oliver and Vita Vea) and right behind Leonard Williams and Kenny Clark. Just outside of top 10 DT money.

I think that's an overestimation by PFF.

$15 million per year seems more reasonable and would have him behind Zach Allen and just ahead of Cam Hayward and Dalvin Tomlinson at about the 20th highest paid DT.

Yeah, I don't know how Dallas always ends up in these spots. We've had, for the past 2-3 years, one of the worst interior D-Lines in the NFL. How in the heck can you tell me how bad we are and then tell me Osa is one of the top defensive free agents available???

Don't get me wrong, I like Osa and we really need to bring him back (the Tag is sounding like a good option)... but how are we so bad but yet our guy is so coveted?

It's like the Cowboys are stuck in a perpetual paradox that also happens to be on fire.

He's one of the better pass rushers from the DT spot. However, he's only 280 lbs and all our other DTs were hot garbage. He's not going to single handedly shut down a rushing attack at that light weight. However, other teams that have a decent rush defense really value that push rush ability, so they'll pay a lot for it.

Yeah, I get it... like I said, I know his value... I'm just beside myself that it's the worst spot on our team and the ONLY guy worth a darn is soon to be a free agent and coveted by most of the league.

It's a typical Cowboys mess!

It is a function of having a quality talent like Will McClay coordinating the draft, while having the 2 biggest nincompoops in the league responsible for the overall roster and coaching staff. So you end up with attractive assets for other teams that you never took full advantage of from a team production perspective

Tell me about it! I heard something the other day that Philly has more cap room than Dallas. How... just how. And it's not all on Dak making 60 mil per year because Philly is paying Hurts 50. And it's not CD making 34 cause AJ Brown is making 32.

How are we completely upside down on the cap and we have guys like Micah, Daron Bland, Tyler Smith, etc. that are still on their rookie deals. I haven't done a full roster breakdown of cap spending, dead money, etc... it's just mind boggling how it appears Dallas keeps giving money to the wrong people!!!

And as I type this, I'm reminded that we probably still have dead cap money next year for Michael Gallup.

Isnt it upside down because of how many contracts Jerry has kicked down the road from years past? I think Zeke was being around $8 million in 2024 prior to him even playing for the team so Jerry decided to sign him to a $2 million deal because value! I could be wrong on all this but Jerry has done this for years with Romo, Jaylon Smith, Gallup, Zeke, numerous OL, and others.

Dak's current 2025 cap hit is $89 million while Jalen Hurts will be a mere $21 million....that's the difference.

Jerry doesn't pay money to keep mid- range players - Dorrance Armstrong comes to mind. I thought Rico Dowdle did a great job and a crappy team but he's probably gone too.

Does anyone know what the tag for Osa would actually be?

Edit: I just read that the Transition Tag is 18 million and some change, and the Franchise Tag is around 25 million. I see no way they franchise tag him, because why not just sign him if you're going to give him 25 for next year. Transition Tag makes more sense because his value will probably fall between 20-25.

Man, this is an insane draft for two positions, and both are positions Dallas needs help.

RB & DT.

I would not be shocked if they are able to take two guys at each position, esp if they manage a trade down.

There really is an insane number of quality DTs in this draft.
