I think Jerry also prefers to make decisions based on ideas he comes up with on his own vs. having someone advise him as to what to do. I think this explains how he handled the RB room in 2024. All the TV analysts said he needed to address RB with a big name FA (Barkley, Henry, etc.) or through the draft. Instead, to prove how smart he his (as the OP suggested) he brings back Dusty Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cooked which leads to the Cowboys having the worst running game in the league until mid-season when they finally commit to Rico Dowdle as RB1.

I was at the home opener this year (where we got absolutely throttled by the Saints). Cowboys fans are very low IQ with regards to the proper way to create a home field advantage. Most embarrassing part was when they announced the starters and they got to Zeke, 75% of the crowd started in with the "Zeeeekkkeeee" yells. Really guys!?!

When Jerry looks around and see's a packed house every week and sees fans going nuts over washed up players... yeah, I guess he feels OK about what he's doing. And besides, at that moment in time he was already knee deep in the planning for the Tyson vs. Paul fight... the Cowboys being successful is far from his only priority.

It was awesome being in college in the early 90s. Cowboys winning super bowls and Ags undefeated at Kyle and beating the sips over and over.

My buddy from Houston hated that I was so confident the boys would win each week. Lol. That was a long time ago...

Definitely a golden era for a lot of us. I at least still have a little hope for the Ags. Honestly the Cowboys are pretty hopeless and have pushed a lot of long time rabid loyal fans to apathy.

I was old enough to enjoy the Cowboys 3 Super Bowls as a teenager... awesome times.

I unfortunately don't have the same luck with the Ags. I was not an Aggie growing up and I transferred in the year AFTER we won the Big XII. Maybe it's my fault, because the Ags haven't won **** ever since I stepped foot on campus.

It's been over 25 years since people like us, Cowboys/Aggies, have seen a championship banner raised. Good times.

Good luck with that. Old white people and Hispanics love them some Cowboys games. And the opposing fans of any decent franchise love coming here to watch their team play (and beat) the Cowboys while drowning out the home fans.

And all Jerry cares about is that the seats are full, concessions are sold, and parking is bought. Nothing else matters more than this to him. If it did, he'd have stepped down from the GM role decades ago.

I gave up being emotionally invested in the Cowboys when Barry Switzer was hired.

The contempt shown for the State of Texas and its football fans by the hire was beyond the pale.

If this is to be believed, Brian S was actually trying to lobby MM to modernize the offense and several guys on the team are lobbying hard for BS.

I don't want Deion but if Stephen Jones thinks he's the wrong hire then I tend to think Deion should probably be the hire. Do everything opposite what nepo trust fund baby arrogant Stephen says. At least Jerry's been kinda likeable in the past, Stephen never has been

After the initial shock has worn off, I don't think Brian S would be a complete disaster. I think he's a better candidate than some give credit for, esp given that it sounds like MM was the one keeping the offense in the 1990's, not Shotty.

Also, if Jerry is hell bent on getting Witten shoehorned into this thing, Hiring Carroll with the idea of him mentoring Witten for a few years wouldn't be the worst thing. Carroll has always been a good culture builder. I suspect he would keep Brian S which would keep Dak happy, I think.

Carroll is rumored now to the raiders. I guess it will be schottenheimer.

That's even worse than hiring Schottenheimer as HC. How are they gonna bring in a guy who has been out of coaching for 10 years and last coached the defense when he was with the Ravens in 2008? And he has been mouthing off about how he is the best candidate for the HC vacancy for the Jets.

The guy will be gunning (and undermining) for the HC position because he thinks he's the top dog.
