That was really confusing, but the Texans should have known the clock was going to run. I knew that. I was confused as to why Stroud went to the gun.

Should have put the 2 seconds that ran off when CJ spiked it back on the clock since that play was invalidated.

That's BS. Refs cause so much confusion we don't even get a field goal try. Heck ruling it incomplete would have been better outcome.

That was complete BS. If they are going to take it down to the time of the spike, the clock has to be stopped.
They also need to announce that the clock would start at the ready for play signal.
The refs botched it both ways. And ultimately gave a complete gift to the colts.

Timeout ended up not being "called" once the officials (inaccurately) changed their mind from the initial ruling. THEN the officials and the PA failed to announce that the clock would start on the whistle.BCSGrubber said:

I was ok with him out there if he was going to spike it. When he went to the gun, like you said, I knew we were confused.

Because it was an officials mistakes they would have wiped out the timeout. The official should stated the clock would start on his whistle, but also, the Texans staff should have known that it would. What did they think they would gain in 5 seconds anyways?

Own the mistake. Win the game. Review it and fix it at practice but yeah... that sucked. I hope they own it and channel the frustration. Don't lose by 3

For some reason I foreshadowed that sequence coming during the review.
So we clocked the ball to get it to 5 seconds. And they say play does not count but don't add time on the clock.

Also how to you say there are five seconds because they set the clock as if the review was never needed, but then they pretend the ball was never spiked… this is a dumb confusing run of so
They could be, I know the strategy was discussed. Lucas Oil stadium had plenty of traffic on it after installation and they were working on manipulating the dehumidifiers in the building along with the air conditioning trying to establish a baseline for moisture content.
I think you will see more of this as more fields turn to organic infill materials. Teams will look to manipulate field conditions to suit their personnel, much the same way you see it in professional soccer.
