Boys are the team to beat in the NFC East.
Looks like it. I think our offense is going to be scary good when they are clicking.

And it's impossible to say after 1 week against an offense that will most likely be bottom half of the league this year, but our defense shows signs of being better than last year. I don't care if it was a bad offense, any time you hold a team to 3 points that's salty! So impressed with all the new faces on D... all of them were around the ball and our secondary guys made Eli double clutch and take coverage sacks all night long!

I think that was evident after last year, really, but I personally think the Eagles are gonna be much improved and a much tougher team to reckon with than the Giants. I also think there are several much better NFC teams this year including (but maybe not limited to) the Packers (especially on D), Lions, and Rams. I also think the Seahawks are even better on D this year and the Buccaneers are gonna be very good overall. Just my 2 cents from things I saw yesterday. Just feels like the NFC is going to be much tougher this year.

That Giants O was not good, especially their OL -- wow, they are bad. Cowboys are decent up-front, but not as good as that Giant OL made them look (see A&M's OL versus Nicholls State). They are especially bad without Beckham.

4 tackles 3 assists and a forced fumble for Jaylon Smith. Solid start all things considered.

From the snippets I saw of the game if looks like he's really natural at taking on and shedding blocks.
If he continues to improve the Lee and Smith duo are going to be a defensive force.

So the GMen take the 2nd half kickoff, down 16, burn 10 minutes off the clock, and come away with 3.

How about a shout out for Chris Jones. All 4 of his punts were recorded as "inside the 20", not a single touch back. But the reality was every single one of his punts was inside the 15 or the 10. That guy was nails punting the ball last night!

And angled beautifully to one of the sidelines. Special teams was lights out last night.

What jumps out at me is his speed. He covers alot of ground fast. Once he gets his timing and feel down watch out becauae he can lay the wood too.

Talked to a guy that works for me this morning... he is a fan and I was curious to hear his good thoughts about the game. He started off with "Man, Cowboys are gonna suck this year I think... Dak can't throw. I've never seen him throw a good ball down the field. The only thing he can throw are 5-10 yard passes."

I had no words.

I guess the honeymoon is over and all the Romo haters have officially found new things to complain about!

The motion to stay the injunction has been granted.

Zeke suspension begins immediately.

So can we appeal the appeal to appeal? This whole thing is ridiculous!!!

Glad he was here to help beat the Giants (screw that Giants super fan chick!). At this point lets just get this 6 game suspension over with and move along. The NFL is a bunch of punk ass *****es, but sometimes you just gotta swallow the $#!* pill and move on.

So did he beat her or not?

And what other stuff has he done that has people against him?
I guess I haven't been following it al.

If they can manage the storm with M&M, it might be nice to have a healthy back at week 8 or 9.

Short version... it sounds like he didn't, sounds like it was not a healthy relationship all around though. She openly lied to police, threatened to ruin Zeke's career in front of witnesses after he told her to hit the road. Even one of the head NFL investigators filed a report that literally said she is not a trustworthy person and her account of the details was not truthful.

They suspended him anyway. It's 100% pure political at this point and it sucks. May not matter though... the current collective bargaining agreement gives the NFL so much freedom to suspend players they feel damaged the brand. I doubt Zeke can win in court after Tom Brady failed.

Loved almost everything about the Cowboys last night. SOLID all throughout. Not perfect, but no one looked incompetent (besides Taco).

  • Dak was bad for about 1.5 qtrs before settling down
  • Dez needs to mentally adjust. He left Dak to hang and dry on 2 audibles he didn't hear because he wouldn't stop jawwing with Janoris Jenkins.
  • Zeke didn't have any explosive 20-30 yd plays, but he's a freaking stud. Routinely turned no gain plays into 4-5 yd runs.
  • DLAW looks awesome! If he stays healthy, he's our 10+ sack guy!
  • Conversely, Taco looked...not good. He was ALWAYS the last DL to fire off the snap. Like, half a second late. When Tapper subbed in for him, there was a noticeable upgrade. I'm hoping the coaching staff adjusts and doesn't just grant Taco more reps just based on his draft status.
  • Chaz Green looked promisingly GOOD! Thought he handled himself well against this stout DL.
  • Miracle man Jaylon Smith is blowing my mind. It looks like the Cowboys got this one right! I expect he'll only get better as the season goes on!
  • SEAN. LEE. - That is al.

Lot of things can happen between now and then, but I'm wondering if Jaylon will keep the job and not give it back when Hitchens recovers?

I mean, Hitchens is a good player and will no doubt be a big help to our team either way. But man, Jaylon had one of those nights where you noticed him. The kind of game where the other teams fans say "there's that 54 again!". The guy looked super fast and when he hit... BOOM!

Can't say I can recall games where Hitchens stood out as a guy making plays over and over again.

The upside of Smith is forsure higher than Hitchens. It comes down to consistency for Smith. If he can show to be consistently in the right place, then that play making ability he has will get him the job.

The concern with Jaylon is still his change of direction. If an opposing line seals an alley for the RB to run through and Jaylon is the guy with the responsibility to plug it and make the play...can he? Because we see him shoot out like a cannonball when he reads a play and rushes in a straight line to his assignment, but its the uncertainty of direction he has trouble with. You can tell he can't push of that foot as fast as he used to.

I think I'd lean towards starting Hitchens while Jaylon spells him for a few series; at least for this year while Jaylon is till adjusting/rounding into form.

He moved laterally without issue on the play where he defended the reverse. I was surprised by his quickness there.

Once he changes directions, he looks good. But the process of making that change is a struggle. In my specific example of him attacking a hole or making a head up play on a RB in open field; i think he struggles.

Scandrick having surgery on a broken hand... has this guy ever played even half a season? He always gets hurt.

Will be watching the Broncos carefully tonight. I don't expect much from the Charges, though, so I expect Denver to look pretty good.

Loving the fact that it's football season again.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, a source within CBS has notified Romo that he will miss time with acute Pharyngitis, also known as a sore throat. The time table for his return currently stands at 4-6 weeks.

Quote:

According to Schefter, CBS will put a young broadcaster named Pak Brescott in place of Romo until he is ready and able to hop back in the booth.

Was just telling my wife the same thing. Don't care a bit if it's sexist... I don't ever want to hear a woman calling football games... EVER!

I bet she makes horrible sandwiches!
