With Haley making RoH, there is no doubt that Romo will be in it.

I'd at least expect a 4th-5th place finish for the hardware.

Romo had a great game yesterday, but keep in mind that Big Ben also threw 6 TD passes vs. the hapless Colts defense.

and of course under much, much more duress, Philip Rivers likewise threw 4 TD passes this weekend...with his top WR (Keenan) out

No Big Ben? He isn't up there with Rodgers I know...but he's easily a top 5 candidate.

May lead the league in passing yards, 30 TD's to 8 INT's, has the Steelers in shape for a division title, and with a 500 yard passing game this season became the only QB in NFL history to have 2 500 yard games. I know Leveon is stealing the media love for the Steelers, but Ben has been big time this year.

I'd have it

1) Rodgers
2-6 in any order) Big Ben, Demarco, Watt, Brady
7) Romo

I understand this... but Roger's team most likely lost the #1 see by losing to Buffalo last week. His stats in that game: 17-42, O TDs, 2 INTs, 34.3 Passer rating.

Romo has been red friggin hot to end the season and clinch a division for his team. It's certainly part of the argument IMO.

I believe the MVP isn't a ballot of 3 or 5 guys. It's 1 vote for 1 guy. There are 50 voters.

I don't think it's any coincidence that Ben and Romo have very good running games which translates into great passing numbers. The diff is Romo has rarely ever had that luxury.

1) Danny White would be in the HoF if not for The Catch, and the fumble and the horse collar on the ensuing drive (which most people don't remember).

2) Romo's FG snap fumble is hugely overblown. Here's why:

- Seattle moved the ball at will the entire 4th quarter, and would have driven for a game-winning FG anyway.
- The refs mis-spotted Witten's 3rd down catch, which would have allowed Dallas to score on the final play, either a TD (likely not on the final play, but would have forced Seattle to score a TD) or a FG
- The Dallas defense had time to stop Seattle and try another FG, but let Seattle punch it out for a 1st down.

You're right, chem, on the Witten thing. I had forgotten about that. That was clearly a first down.

The reason I remember it is because it was a deliberate attempt (imo) by Dallas to pick up the first down WITHOUT scoring. Witten stopped right at the sticks. The play was executed beautifully to run out the clock and leave Seattle no time. The amazing thing is that even though it's obvious what Dallas was doing, nobody in the press conference ever asked about it, nor to my knowledge has anybody ever commented on what a brilliant play it was. Then the refs screwed up the spot...

Romo isn't the MVP of his own team, much less the league.

If the season ended today Spray Tan would finish 75th all time for single season all purpose yards. If he keeps pace he'll move up to 39th. If he has a big game then we're talking top 25.

I'm serious. I'm wondering. I'm not looking to argue or put anyone down as arguments can be made for other players too and I understand that. Just want to know who and what the reasoning is. Personally, I think team MVP this year is in this order..

1: Romo (this team has proven its offense cannot function without Romo running it)
2: Dez (now requiring double teams regularly enough to leave others open and open up running lanes)
3: Murray (great hard runner but he's also got an elite OL opening up lanes for him)
4: McLain (huge addition to the D, and is the only real playmaker in the front 7 right now)
5: Scandrick (if this D had only Carr and Claiborne at CBs we woulda been looking at 2-3 more losses)

In that case then see my post above. Murray is having a stupid good year. But you are right Dez is too. That IMO hurts Romo's argument for MVP. If JJ goes off (2-3 sacks, INT or FF, and maybe a TD somehow too) and the Texans make the playoffs then I could see him making a real argument with no QB running away with it. If its ever going to happen (D for MVP) then this is the year for it.

2nd gen posted this in the Watt thread and I responded there (thought it was this thread). Not gonna change his mind, but he's wrong.

IMO the main reason Romo won't get more consideration for MVP is because his last name is Romo. If he performs this well again next year I think he'll have a good shot at it, but for now, there is too much Romo bias. Almost as if everybody expects him to fall apart in the playoffs so they aren't going to consider him. And I guess you can't blame them for thinking that.

He has DEFINITELY stepped up his game big time. He's deserving of many accolades. I hope that he goes all the way to the Superbowl and wins it all. I'm not even A Cowboy regular but i recognize his effort, and that of this team. My Dolphins are a long way off, but just perhaps the metroplex in which i live and love can go all the way. And I hope they win it all AGAIN.

And yes, he will be in the HOF.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Eli? No way man, just no way. Guy is consistently 10th or below in terms QB stats and has at least once been at the bottom of the league (like bottom 5) in passed rating. Super Bow rings can certainly keep you out of the HOF, but they don't just automatically take you if you got 2. Eli has had a very very average NFL career, but he got really hot twice and it happened to be in the playoffs and he happened to have a VERY good defense those years.

No!
Farmer1906
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He's done it at a much less efficient rate than Romo, but he's got him beat in totals and rings.

Like I said, I don't like Eli, and I don't think he belongs in the HOF. But I bet you he gets in.

2 yrs ago i woulda said Eli is probably in. but the last couple of years he has been flat out TERRIBLE on the field. he cannot even complete a 10 yard throw right in front of him to a wide open guy anymore. almost Chuck Knoblochish a times. so I"m not sure now.

that said, he has seem to come alive a bit with Odel Beckham emerging so maybe he starts showing some things again.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The emergence of Beckham is really helping, as Eli has had an outstanding December, and is on pace to get back to post his highest TD's and highest passer rating in his career this year, with low INT numbers(especially for Eli) at 13.

Definitely back to more of his normal career arc before a couple awful seasons.

Wow, didn't even realize his numbers were that good when I looked, but December has helped him immensely so far with 7 TD's to 1 INT.

Without DeMarco Murray, Romo maybe gets the Cowboys to 8-8. See last 6 seasons

But he had Demarco for the last three years?

Your point is partially right. DeMarco for a full season has been very good. However, the real issue is that they now have a legitimate OL and they have a good OC. It should not be underestimated how important Linehan has been to this thing.

Also, while it's a small sample size, Randle is actually at 5.8 Yards per attempt while DM is at 4.7. I think if Randle was the FT RB, you would be looking at about 1400 yards or so from him. I agree that DM is better, but we need to give credit where credit is due, and IMO, that's the OL.

Ultimately, for me, it comes down to this. If you had to play a playoff game and you had to be without either Romo or DM, which one gives you the best chance to win? I don't think there's any question that having Romo w some combination of Randle & Dunbar gives you a much better chance than DM and Weeden.
