He's not up there with Brady brees Peyton & Rogers. Can't believe that's even being argued.

Agree on Brady, Rogers and Manning. Romo is better than Brees right now.

Right now, yes.

Career or over past 10 years as being discussed, no

Cool. We agree then that Romo has been a top 10 quarterback over the last decade. Can't ask for much more than that.

But more to the point, you couldn't believe that Romo has better stats in some of those categories than the Bradys and Mannings of the world, when in fact, he's got a higher passer rating than Brady, Brees, and Big Ben. He averages more yards per attempt than all of them not named Aaron Rodgers, including Manning. He's got more passing TDs than Rodgers, though. And he has thrown 121 fewer interceptions than Manning (and fewer than Brees, Brady, and Big Ben).

Long story short, he's not the terrible QB people want to believe he is. In fact, he's one of the very best in the league and has been for the past decade.

Picking and choosing unimportant stats doesn't make him better than those QBs.

He was a top 10 QB for a random window of time. It doesn't even mean he's a top 10 every season of that window.

No one but a few trolls on this board think he's terrible.

He's been just below elite most of last 10 years is what most think

BMX, I don't think Romo is better than Manning, Brady, Brees, or Rodgers. I also happen to think all of those guys are HOFs on the first ballot.

I do believe Romo falls squarely in that next grouping, and I'd argue that he's closer to the very top of that next grouping than at the bottom of it. So when the question is phrased "is Romo near hall of fame worthy", I think the answer is still a no without some playoff success. However, I think he's a lot closer than some.

If you were referring to my post, I wasn't arguing that. I was simply stating fact that his QB rating for his career is up there with those guys (and I didn't look it up, but I know he's up there high on the list). It was nothing more than a stat comparison.

But I'll tell you what I can't believe.... that I'm posting in this thread. I mean, seriously, we've pretty much had this discussion twice a year for like 5+ years now haven't we. Peace, I'm outta here!

The only thing that is a certainty is that if he were a Steeler, he would have already been voted in

I don't recall a previous thread ever discussing whether he was Hall of Fame candidate

OK, last thing and then I'm gone... couldn't help but look it up.

Career Passer Rating in order:

Aaron Rodgers: 105.8 (friggin outta this world!)
Peyton Manning: 97.8
Tony Romo: 97.1
Tom Brady: 96.0
Drew Brees: 95.5
Big Ben: 93.8

So yards per pass, touchdowns per pass, and interceptions per pass are unimportant? Comebacks and game winning drives are unimportant? Passer rating and completion percentage are unimportant?

What is important to you?

This.

Is it just wins and losses? You look at just rings?

Anyone who thinks Romo is "terrible" is not qualified to be talking football anyway.

Romo should be in HOF just for having to deal with the Jerrah and the Cowboys organization

In all seriousness, Romo when looking at his stats he's very competitive to the Qbs of today. However, what you do in the post season matters and doesn't have any super bowl rings like the Rodgers, Brady, Manning, and Bree's. So he will always be compared to them.

Probably not a first ballot but he would get in. It's just depends on what your criteria is

If Kurt Warner isn't in the Hall of Fame, there is no imaginable way where Tony Romo would ever make it in.

Considering this is Warner's first year of eligibility, I'm sure he's gonna get in.

Warner is mostly likely in.

the numbers are highly skewed. You used to be able to clothesline receivers. Now they have to catch the ball unimpeded before you touch them.

There is no way to compare a QB in Aikman's day, much less Staubach's to compare to Romo numbers.

The numbers are being inflated. That is why 7 of the 10 are playing the game now.

That's too many concurrent hall of fame qbs playing today.

Nobody would. Not over Brees. Probably not over Big
Ben, either.

The guy was a UFA out of college. The fact that he's even in the discussion of the others is pretty remarkable. If he played on any other team he wouldn't get near as much heat as he does. Some of the criticism is well deserved- forced passes, mishandling of that FG snap- and some is not- imagine if Patrick Crayton had caught that pass? I would love to see him make a playoff run before his career is over and have a chance at the HOF.

AGree completely with this. IF Romo had been with the Bengals for a decade, his public perception would be incredibly diff, IMO.

And while do not think he is HOF worthy, I think it's wrong to say he's 'not even close' as some have suggested. By the time he's done, in a couple of years, his numbers will be incredible.

I said that as of today, he is nowhere near the Hall of Fame.

And less he wins the Super Bowl, he won't be any more than a quick two-minute discussion with the vote comes unless he sticks around long enough to start breaking records records. What isn't going to happen.

Whether that is fair or not to be debated. Is this Era, QBs are not going to get in without playoff sucess & super bowl win.

I agree.

I just think it would be really interesting if the Cowboys got on a hot streak and hauled off and won a SB.

I think there are many of us that have been pro-Romo that realize he is more than capable of taking a team to a SB.

However, there are a ton of people out there, some Cowboys fans, who's head might explode because they would not know what to do with him then...

Another great game yesterday and he passed Aikman as the all-time leading passer in Dallas history. No doubter for the ROH.
