Trump is displaying his Lukashenko and Orban tendencies with his attempted press ban.

Not a smart time for him to do that, not when most Americans were already very concerned about his tariffs, his stupid decisions, his lying, his corruption, his destruction of our economy, and his Administration's constant illegal attacks on the Constitution and our nation's longstanding well-established democratic norms.

So, they should instead vote for the Democrats who are currently fighting a civil war against their own people who literally want to get rid of the Constitution. The very same poeple that Democrats enabled by sprinting so far left that they created this monster.

I'm not disputing Americans are concerned about Trump but to turn around and then vote for the objectively worse party is brain dead stupid...just like their last POTUS in office. But many will because they can't think ahead nor think critically. The ability to weigh pros and cons, assess logical outcomes, and assess risk is completely lost on almost all Democrats and for many, many Republicans.

Alternative is the guy's party in charge that promised peace and prosperity and here we are.

He's not on any ticket, but 100% the driver right now. Objectively worse doesn't matter when objectively worse is now at the pump, grocery store, etc.

Your statement in bold proves my point above it, perfectly.

Question: Are you better now than 2 years ago?

Well, yes and no.

Economy sucks, job market sucks (ignore the Boomers on this one), inflation sucks. We are in a war which isn't ending. The only positive for me is I am wealthier because the stock market has done well in these past 20 months.

On the positive side, I feel that things are getting better and will take time. Once Trump succeeds in his H1B visa and immigration moves, that will change a lot of things. Yes, some things will get more expensive but that is a cost we have to pay. It is better to have a job and higher costs than no job and slightly lower costs.

HTH.

But seriously, not everything is higher. He'll, housing is dropping in places and other categories have been stable or down.

And don't give me the "with the price of diesel, everything will go up!". Folks can deal with that when and if it happens, but the "wait for tomorrow it's going to be worse" is never a reason to vote for Hate Americans.

I'm not saying it's a valid reason, but everyone I know is talking about how 'everything is very expensive" and people vote with the wallets. The GOP is in charge so they'll get blamed, right, wrong or indifferent.

we've got republican candidates in florida(!) scrubbing trump's endorsements from their website and even campaigning against his immigration policies. trump approval dipping below 30%, now approaching bush term 2 levels (lowest this century). the maga electoral coalition may be evaporating before our very eyes.

What is remarkable about that is Bush hit 25% during the very worst of the financial crisis with unemployment at historic highs and people losing their homes and jobs right and left.

Trump is nearing that with a much more benign backdrop.

And yet it is looking like a disappointing mid-term for the Democrats, where the opposition party historically triumphs readily.

The Democrats will get a mild victory at best, despite a very unpopular president, because they have nothing to run on except grocery bills they created and TDS. They have only worse policies than the GOP and horrible leadership to guide them. America is not ready to hand the keys to the car back to them.

That particular candidate voted to fund all of Trump's immigration policies. She is a hypocrite, unfortunately, just like a lot of GOP politicians.

Only says something when it looks like she might not win re-election.

Per every election analyst I have seen, recent mid-cycle redistricting is biggest factor preventing the sort of blue wave we have seen in the past.

Funny thing I've noticed here in Arkansas. I get flyers put on my front door by politicians for local races. Only the Republicans put their party affiliation on their flyers. They're also the only ones that knock and hope you answer so they can talk to you. The Dems knock and sprint away, hoping you don't look and see who they represent. Had 2 House and Senate runners drop flyers off yesterday and I had to look them up because nothing was on there. Sure enough, both Democrats and both knocked and ran away. To the trash it went.

It's not just the recent mid-cycle one. Dems have done a lot of gerrymandering over the past several censuses (censii?) and are pretty close to maxing out their non-competitive seats. This mid-cycle was an early response
(not waiting to 2030) by the Republicans.

After 2030, when the Republicans do another cycle, both to max out non-competitive seats AND to do away with the majority minority seats mandated by the VRA, there will be VERY few competitive seats left.

my guess is we're headed toward dems easily retaking the house and a toss up for control of the senate. this is about as good a senate map as republicans could hope for in a D+8 midterm, which will stem the bleeding somewhat. dems need 51 seats for a majority, arguably 52 with the risk of fetterman being a tiebreaker.

agree that dems' gains will have everything to do with a backlash to trump and the gop, and little to do with a proactively beneficial vision of governance under their party (they have none at the moment).

The path to victory in November will not come from $5000 checks, more tariffs, dumping the SPR, buying up bonds, or banning Diesel exports… It requires convincing younger Americans the GOP had to end-run radical Democrats & the swamp Republicans (Senate) to take on spending, cut bureaucrats, cut subsidies… & we need time to finish the job… to take on Big Healthcare, Big Tech, and all the corporate interests riding high on crony capitalism while Americans are hurting. Speak truthfully. We haven't done all we need to do. Ask for the chance to finish the job - to restore the American Dream… and mean it. That's it.

did chip roy hit his head and forget who is president right now? we're not getting any of that with trump

obviously there's still time for change or the possibility of a large polling error, but it's pretty funny that republicans hand-waved months of bad polling with "nothing before labor day counts" only for the bottom to fall out for them after labor day

Iran is an albatross.
Iran is a part of it. That has been a perfect synopsis of Trump and his destructive disaster of a clownshow.

But there is a lot more.

The daily nonstop lying.
The megalomania.
The tariffs.
The rampant corruption, de facto bribery, self-enrichment schemes, and other financial crimes.
Alienating, shamefully insulting, and threatening our allies.
The attacks on our election system and the lies and other false claims about 2020.
Pardoning the J6ers.
Changing ICE from courteous respected LEOs wearing windbreakers and ties into a secret paramiltary force that uses intimidation and hides behind masks.
The illegal use of the DOJ, FCC, etc.
The Epstein coverup and secret deal Trump and his laeyer Todd Blanche made with Epstein's co-pedo Ghislaine Maxwell.
The fraud and hoax that DOGE was.

The Congressional Rs in the GOP-controlled Congress have no one to blame but themselves. They all have agency. 95% of them fall into one of two categories. They are either abject spineless cowards, or they willfully chose to betray their oaths and our country and be partners & eager supporters & participants in all the above.

Klobuchar (and Flanagan) have real problems for the DSA Dems in MN.

It would be fantastic if Tafoya somehow wins that blue state seat in the senate, and I think she is likely to do so at this point.

I think Peltola is toast with this, shocking to me, NYT hit piece.

Still need to crush all of the above in closing weeks spending.
