He could have made peace a few months ago and made a bad decision; and in that time he's lost more land and more people. He's also seen US and world resolve to "fight those damn Ruskies to the end" crumble. So it's a very reasonable question.

I read that and laughed. Ain't nobody, including Zelensky and everyone else there, cares about that **** right now.

I have also seen a talking point emerge across various leftist outlets (cnn, the atlantic and others) that the main reason trump is offering up defense guarantees is because the pressure put on by the euros who were in attendance.

Not only did he not take any tough questions but the VERY few times he did take questions they were all prescripted for him. Any honest lib, and there are VERY few, knows I'm right.

Ukraine giving up Donetsk and Luhansk, freezing the lines in Zaphorizia and Kherson, and Russia giving up the marginal gains elsewhere isn't a bad deal for Ukraine as long as there are real security guarantees/peacekeepers that keep Russia from taking another bite in a year or five.

It's also a lot less than Russia thought they would get when they invaded 3.5 years ago.

If that real security guarantee includes American troops intervening to stop any attempts by Russia to gain new territory, that's a great deal for Ukraine

But a horrible deal for the United States. So I'm hoping that's not the case.

In a non-combat role we've been providing air security throughout the conflict, via P-8, E7, E-3, global hawk and other surveillance (also space-based). This has afforded both targeting information (offensive) and significant defensive coordination/protection (for Ukrainian Air Force/Army assets as well as their populace/military infrastructure).

This is actually the most significant real military assistance they've been given (for free), and has kept Kiev in the fight throughout the conflict much more than 155mm shells/cash etc. These are also not cheap platforms to develop, equip, staff, maintain, deploy and operate, but the costs are often not reflected in comparisons of aid spend/donations.

Poland, Hungary, etc. would all have more reason to be there than Canada.

There were only 5 countries represented there - France, Germany, Italy, UK, and Finland (who only joined in 2023 because Russia did this invasion).

Then there was the NATO SG and the European Commission President.

Where are the other 7 founding members of NATO? Or the 27 CURRENT members of NATO?
