None of this matters. The train has no brakes. It keeps picking up speed no matter who is in charge until something derails it.

We are allowed to vote against the train derailing

We just need more people to be aware it's coming and a party willing to fix serious issues.

Elon has the money and connections, even the social media to let these things play out

Not going to matter. The only thing that fixes this country is the train derailing and people having to suffer thanks to the greed, ignorance, and complacency that got us here. I wish there were another way, but it's painfully clear now. Full speed toward the cliff. Speed bumps become launch pads.

Talking about driving off a cliff, Elon is leading a charge of lemmings off a cliff for no reason.

Let me ask this America Party this, what is your plan?

Elon has a obviously huge "war chest" to pull from, so he might make some damage. Time will tell. He put on some "social media pressure" about the OBBB. Yet, he didn't sway one vote there. but he is not adjusting his approach with a new party, so time will tell soon enough.

We'll see what Elon puts together. Its been 1 day but I saw a good list of issues and stances yesterday that Elon agreed with

Meanwhile, whats your plan, considering the last 20 years of R and D power that got us 37 trillion in debt

Elon thinks breaking the 2-party duopoly will be easy:

Spoiler alert, he is wrong. I question his judgment on politics, and even more so his long-term game here, to the extent he even has one.

C'mon folks this little tiff between Trump and Elon is just a way to get leftist from vandalizing/torching Teslas..

Seriously, as one that does not feel at home in either of the two major US political parties, I do hope something might come of this although I have little hope, Maybe it forces the Republicans to take a good long look in the mirror and actually do something.

Or, in his mind, this would spite the party being led by Trump, which caused him to do this.

Yes, the ends are the same, but the rationale is what we're talking about.

I called it here a long time ago. Elon did amazing things over the past many years but his arrogance has gotten the better of him. He thinks he is the king of the world. He is tired of running his companies and wants to do something even bigger. He thought he could run the government by proxy but Trump told him to F off so he is trying a backdoor way.

He would have some good issues to fight on but that isn't enough.

He will fail miserably. He won't make a dent in anything and the part will soon fold.

Republicans are stupid. Creating a 3rd party puts democrats in power.

1. They win any close election die to cheating
2. Democrats vote for a candidate over one issue
3. Republicans ***** over one issue.

But I get Elon's point. He put his company at grave risk and himself in real danger to find waste and the Republicans in Congress told him to **** off. They totally ignored everything g he did.

This would come at a time where Republicans are making huge strides. He should focus his money on exposing and fixing voter fraud. Get rid of that and Republicans would gain enough where they could get much better bills passed.

We don't know if they are going to submit the DOGE cuts for reconciliation bills. If was reported the republicans want to use it in the fall and again next spring. I expect they will try to do this.
TAMU1990
How long do you want to ignore this user?
What needs to happen is primaries for Rinos in solid red districts. That would be a better use of Elon's time. He could even do it at the state level (Texas). So much easier than trying to launch a 3rd party.

Look at the socialist dems - they took over the Democratic Party. They showed you Elon it was possible.
nortex97
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think they can only do one reconciliation bill/year.

I don't know, but it was being reported. If that is correct, then it will be next spring. They want to use it again.

Thing about Elon is he's kind of let his ego get to him a little bit because without Trump he's just another billionaire. He has no political clout with anybody. Everybody hates him so he can beat his chest all he wants and threatened to throw billions into elections, but he's not gonna get anybody elected. Money didn't get Trump elected I don't care what you think Kamala spent over $1.5 billion in three months Trump didn't spend that in the entire election money don't get you elected. Hillary spent 1 billion Trump spent a third of that and beat her. It's not the money.

Don't forget how much money Elon poured into the Wisconsin SC race.

Not only did the Republican lose, but many people voted against the Republican because of Elon interfering in a state election.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. His money that he spent on buying Twitter definitely helped get Trump elected. So, yes, "money" definitely helps get someone elected. Just not necessarily direct funding. Trump/Clinton and Trump/Harris.....Trump was the least ****ty of the two candidates, nothing earth shattering there. A billion-plus spent doesn't change the nature of two shrill harpies.

And, yes, Musk has let his ego get the better of him. Sounds like someone else we all hear about a lot nowadays.....

True.

If Elon truly wants to sway elections, he needs to do it the old school way like Soros and the Koch brothers do.

Otherwise his name will be an albatross to anyone he puts up save to the most devoted of his followers.

At least a vote for a 3rd party gives them a non zero chance

We know it's garunteed under the Rs or Ds
What we know is a D is guaranteed to win if a fiscally conservative party breaks off from the Rs.
party platform must be designed to pull an even 20% from each side. Obviously much easier said than done.

People trying to figure out what Elons reasoning is behind his Twitter rants is the epitome of cats chasing a laser pointer.

Outside primarily all abut two Rs in the house and 3 in the Senate, what is Elons plan? Sow chaos in an attempt to reduce the deficit. Bold move cotton, let's see how that plays out.

Also, if he continues this path he will have to resign his companies. As we all know, Elon shuns all subsidies and repays all grants, but he still has billions in government contracts that create a conflict of interest. Recall his unwillingness to open his books is the reason he was just a special government employee and limited to the 120 days or whatever the limit was.

I still haven't seen a a plan other than it's not Trump, not D, not R and only represents about 10% of voters.

But hell yea, let's follow Elon!

Too funny. Should be interesting to watch.

And Elon is more H1B than Vivek. ha ha

Elon will get another egg on his face. He failed with DOGE so badly that no one talks about it anymore. His DOGE boys like BigBalls have move on. So he needs something else to keep him occupied. He will tank his companies again because of alienating his customers.

I've been saying this for a long time - Elon is a clown. A bozo. A successful and rich one. But still a bozo. Other than that he has nothing going for him right now. He has no real family to go home to. He has no home, going by what he says himself, so he sleeps in his factories. No wife, kids with baby mamas. He got lucky during a few years of his life because he took extreme risk and it worked out. Great. But doesn't mean everything he touches will turn into gold.

If you have read this board for long, a lot of people love to lick the boots of the rich and powerful. We are talking about an anonymous internet forum, not real life (where you have to suck up to the MAN to survive). But still people do it. Elon is rich and successful, no one can deny. So the pavlovian reflex to salivate when they see dollar bills and cheer him onto whatever idiocy he has indulged himself in. I see that with some of my friends/neighbors too. If you criticize Elon, they try to defame you by saying you are "jealous".

Or... people cheer other people who champion what is important to them. It's the same reason all the Trump people loved Elon until a month ago. There's a bunch of posters here criticizing Elon for being rich who have defended Trumps weird money making schemes, even though he's rich, too. It's just convenient to criticize Musk now that Trump is against him. A hazard of not having base principles and instead supporting a personality.

The truth is simple. Only two parties will continue to exist and matter. Elon lost major races everywhere he has interfered. Democrats will not vote for his new party...they will do what they do, support their party 100%. If he goes after Senate seats and draws even 5% he may swing power to Democrats. Those Democrats will not do anything but vote for what they are told for 6 years. Elect a few more to the House and he will create the non-stop "impeachment" hearings and investigations and that will be the end of Trump being effective.

I would love a 3rd party, but splintering one of the two while the other remains intact simply cements one party rule faster. Again, Democrats will not leave their party for Elon Musk or fiscal conservatism. They were just screaming on TV about the cuts in this bill that some on here (and Musk) don't think go far enough. They will raise taxes on anyone over $50k earnings, tax capital gains, tax 401ks, tax business much higher and add to social program spending. I am amazed this is not just a known fact and people pretend team D is not organized and loyal...

Great question I had to look it up. The idiom originates from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," where a sailor is cursed to wear a dead albatross around his neck as punishment for killing the bird.
