New? Is he talking about domestic flights? Because checking Visa status on international flights isnt new. Hell, there are Immigration inspectors in the outbound countries that check Visa status before people can even get on some planes.

It's always worth taking the time to remind people that most Republicans who ride the coat tails of conservative leaders like Ron DeSantis are swampy bums that are not conservatives and won't hesitate to stab the leader in the back at any opportunity.

DeSantis led the fight against illegal immigration even when his own party wanted to drag their feet and obstruct cooperation with ICE because they are in the pocket of the agriculture lobby.

The January 2025 legislation that DeSantis introduced to the legislature that was eventually passed was opposed by his own GOP majority in in the legislature. DeSantis called a special session that the GOP Senate majority leader gaveled open and closed within five minutes. They gave the middle finger to the guy whose coat tails they had just ridden to victory in the 2024 election.

The GOP majority then introduced their own 78 page bill thatbwould explicitly strip the authority from the governor to use the FDLE TO conduct immigration enforcement actions in Florida and to assign it to the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture. The Bill proposed in the Senate would have hired 140 badged immigration enforcement officer to work for the Commissioner of Agriculture. It was designed to be completely ineffective. For perspective, Florida has 42 million miles of road patrolled by 2000 Florida Highway Patrol. The paltry 140 Department of Agriculture immigration officers were to ensure that no sugar cane or strawberry farm would ever have to worry about enforcement of Immigration law for their illegal immigrant workforce.
