Never underestimate the creativity of someone who likes screwing with people. 2x4s and rope gave us the glorious crop circle documentaries that have become History Channel's revenue stream.

Why are we allowing it over restricted airspace? They would be easy to take down, yet we don't? Am i wrong?
C-UAS is probably not being done at most locations.Kozmozag said:

Either people are seriously misjudging the size or it is a hoax. Something the size of a car could not stay covert, particularly when trying to move it around and launch or retrieve it.CanyonAg77 said:

People are terrible at estimating sizes of things even in clear weather and daylight. I'm not surprised at the variance in sizes reported for these things, whatever they are.Muy said:
I heard the size of a "hood of a car", which isn't really that insane in terms of the end-to-end length and width a drove could be. People keep thinking these droves are the actual size of cars.
Especially women right? There's no basis for words like "cute" or "perfectly normal." They have no idea what they are talking about.G Martin 87 said:People are terrible at estimating sizes of things even in clear weather and daylight. There are ag drones made in Richmond, TX that are 10 feet x 10 feet. That is pretty big.Muy said:

That sounds reasonable for a military drone or I guess a delivery drone, but damn!
Quote:
I researched drones that could fit the profile, information invisible in most of the media reports. Two categories of drones are at least as big as a small car. First, prototypes of "flying cars" drones that, if the FAA ever allows it, could be used for personal air transportation. You can't buy one, so you could say they are priceless. You definitely can't fly them without special FAA permission, not without breaking a zillion laws. It's unclear why flying car developers would risk huge penalties to test their prototypes like this instead of doing it legally and in the clear.
The second possible category are the cargo drones. These are autonomous flyers, like hobby drones, except bigger. They're operated by remote control, but unlike hobby drones, they carry a substantial payload. Amazon, for example, has been testing delivery drones in this category. But more common are military drones used to drop bombs. These drones cost from hundreds of thousands up to millions of dollars, if you can buy them, that is.
Whatever scofflaw is flying these drones is committing felonies right and left, some serious. Commercially available drones above the $100 range are equipped with GPS, and they are all programmed not to fly near sensitive sites. So, between the size, cost, and apparent lack of software limits, they strongly suggest a military origin, not least because who else would be so unconcerned about all the potential criminal liability, should one of the drones malfunction, land, and be captured?

Well at least the military is not using predator drones over US cities.

For those following #NJDRONES this post was made a few hours ago in the NJ Mystery drones group on fb, which has almost 20,000 members sharing videos and tracking drones. Not only was the post removed from Facebook, but it was then moved to Reddit and they also removed it. 👀 pic.twitter.com/2Z5CTHFA8Q

I would think they are our drones but I would think testing classified systems that they don't want to disclose.GeeBee said:
