Thank God. This was too much of a distraction and potential derail. Ironically this proves Gaetz gets it and puts country over his own priorities.

This was the plan all along. Gaetz gets an excuse to resign from Congress before the Ethics Committee report and Trump get his real pick in.
Was this the play all along. Gaetz has a damning report coming out.. he gets tapped as AG, so he resigns before report, so it becomes just more partisan noise, but theres truth to it in reality, but this lets him save face, he withdraws as a distraction, has resigned from house in a safe seat to be replaced, report never comes out or is official, but he can still have a spot in Trump administration that doesnt carry senate conformation and people move on….

I know MAGA loves the guy and will defend him against any criticism, but in the long run, it is better for everyone that Gaetz is gone, and the #1 beneficiary is Trump himself.

Agree with all of that. Plenty of strong AG candidates out there without the baggage who can serve Trump better than Gaetz.

Has anyone seen if he is going to take the seat in which case the ethics report would likely be restarted and released (I assume the investigation would have to be reinitiated by the new Congress)?
