Good grief. That guy is insufferable. The silver lining is that Trump will likely turn over a few of the appointments....if history is any indication. Gaetz is a showboat and not up for that task. But then we're all full of opinions. Just surprising given the myriad of well qualified candidates. And that's good for Trump if you trust his motives, but potentially bad for the American people if there aren't any ethical guard rails. Its like when Trump fired Sessions for not doing everything he wanted. I believe Sessions ran into an ethical and likely legal dilemma and told him he could not pursue the course of action he wanted. You want loyalty but you should also want people to tell you what is out of bounds and why. The leader of a country who's staff only tell them yes and aren't concerned with the ethical, legal or moral repercussions of their actions should be feared by the people.

For the same reason we dislike Biden and the FBI for all the things they did that probably weren't ethical or even legal, we should expect ethics and integrity in this administration. You don't want G. Gordon Liddy types

The problem is that the Republicans will only have a 52 seat majority. Assuming every Dem will vote no on Gaetz, they can only afford to lose 2 R votes.
Murkowski and Collins are almost certain no's. I'm affraid there are more "concerned moderates" in the Republican Senate caucus that will tank this nomination.

At what point to senators like Murkowski and Collins just switch parties? And who else might they take with them? Hell, at this point Cornyn and Mitch the Glitch might even join in. It is not unprecedented for control of the Senate to switch based simply on an existing senator declaring membership in the other party or independent status. Happened with Jeffords in 2001.

Had a very young female companion , after some digging it was determined the relationship probably started before she was 18 and it also appears they traveled internationally while she was a minor

Both of these are kind of illegal and could fall under the term Traficking

The companion chose not to cooperate with the investigation and it went nowhere

IIRC, around 6 or 8 years ago, before he was married, he allegedly used an escort service for some dates. allegations came out years later- over 4 years ago- that one of his dates was under 18 at the time, which he may or may not have known. this is what they tried to bribe or blackmail him and his family about. he refused to pay the ransom, the news story "broke". libs melted down about Gaetz being a pedo because one of his dates years earlier might have been 17 at the time. it guess it's trafficking if he hired a date from an escort service in Florida and flew her to attand a gala or a dinner in DC. so he's not pure and worthy to be in government in liberal minds. it was investigated. They found nothing I guess, because it's been years since then and now he's married, been in congress for another term after that, and just reelected again.
