I think people are overblowing the house vacancies issue.

As long as the elections are held and the new members are seated before May, (so the budget resolution can be passed), then budget reconciliation will continue as it normally does. Budget reconciliation is the only vehicle outside of the executive and court appointments that Trump can make lasting change.

The "100 days" agenda is almost entirely EOs and nothing that requires full congressional approval. As long as the senate swiftly confirms appointments then all should be well.

That's great, but the point is that he's putting his first 100 days at risk, which by extension, puts it all at risk.

This especially considering that he really only has about 18 months to get things done assuming the midterm elections do what they usually do and go to the out of favor party.

Everyone who can see things without the Trump colored glasses sees that Gaetz is a nutcase who nearly handed the House to the Democrats in 2023. Had he succeeded, they would have been able to pass a bill to declare Trump guilt of insurrection, and ban him from running. Gaetz is easily very capable of blowing up Trump's presidency with his dumbassary.

Edit: Just to add another thought. The Democrats are going to Kavanaugh him x10,000 due to the cloud of child sex/trafficking, regardless of whether he did anything wrong or not. And unlike Kavanaugh, it won't be some 30 year old accusations. They will trot out his buddy who was involved in criminal activity, and probably some women who will claim she had sex with Gaetz when she was underage. There is absolutely no reason to burn a ton of political capital on Gaetz when there is a decent chance he will get voted down, if he even makes it out of committee.

The best candidate would have been Andrew Bailey, AG of Missouri.

I am a little disappointed by this one.

Gaetz seems a little green for AG. This one seems more like a poke in the eye to the Dems than a wise choice.

I don't want Trump to spend his next 4 years getting revenge. I want Trump to spend the next 4 years saving America. This feels too much like the former.

I guess we will see who Gaetz surrounds himself with.
