This is low IQ stuff from Tucker. Disappointing.

average Russian income is $15,000 per year.

GDP per capita is $12,000.

But those subways though...

And the "family structure" approach to analyzing the Israel-Hamas conflict was bizarre but also another method of projecting equivalence between the two conflicting entities.

Another who completely missed the point.

Is there a contest or something I'm not aware of?

So judging by your posts and your OP, this is exactly what I thought it was. You're not interested in honest discussion at all.

Not at all. I would love to have a rational, evidence based comparison of Moscow and NYC. Now where are we going to get realistic crime statistics from an authoritarian police state?

I was in Moscow about ten years ago.

it was the early spring and the traffic was horrendous, the cars were ugly Soviet pieces of @#$, everything was still snowy and caked with mud.

only a simp for Putin believes that Russia is better than Miami, Boston, Charleston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas...

Probably would be a challenge to get them from the Russians too.

Moscow is much richer than the national average, though.

Actually, it's 5th place among Russia's "states", being beaten by Siberian regions with oil and gas or gold mining.

But Moscow is so much prettier than any American city. Look at all their beautiful government housing.

we could start by executing dangerous illegal drug traffickers and caning perpetrators of thievery, vandalism, and assault. Whose freedom does that authoritarian rule take away?

All the people executed and caned for child abuse because they wouldn't let their kid get a sex change surgery. The law of unintended consequences applies to everyone...

Monoculture
The obvious reason that no one in America would admit publicly for fear of retribution.

Diversity is not a strength when that includes certain cultures. If diverse ethnic groups want to come here and leave behind their inferior, third world culture then great.

Unfortunately, that horse is out of the barn and there is no going back.

There are nice parts of American cities but the reality is that we are coasting in comparison to what they were in the 1950s.

You used to be able to walk around them at night but I can't think of any major American city where I would do this, even carrying weapons.

This is what homogeneity gets you. It's what we had prior to 1960.

That's what car culture gets you. We wanted our own plots of land with our own house, lawns, and space to enjoy. You simply can't do that in a densely populated urban core. We can complain about NYC having lots of issues but it is absolutely a walkable, generally safe city.

Libs love them some Europe and Moscow is a European city so I'd assume the libs are all like "of course it's a great city"

Tucker probably only saw a curated view of Moscow around red square and that area is pretty cool

Bull***** Our cities were safe and fine in 1960 when the nation was 90% white and much of it homogeneous. Our cities were built around cars and none of this was a problem.

We had clean public transportation and no homeless issues. Our roads were in good condition even with commuting, etc.

Graffiti wasn't a thing anywhere.

Diversity has destroyed every major city in the US. Nearly all of them are incredibly dangerous at night and covered in graffiti and the general beauty has been destroyed. Art Deco buildings were the last truly great architectural movement the US had. Everything after 1960 has been pure garbage.

Hypothetical: would you feel safer walking around Moscow at night (you look like yourself, but nobody knows you're an American) or say the west side or south side of Chicago at night (you look just like yourself)?

I'm going with the unknown of Moscow because what will happen in Chi-Town is a given.
To be fair, the question should be whether you would feel safer walking around the most dangerous part of Moscow or the most dangerous part of Chicago and knowing just how unsafe they are.

Just about any city of any size is going to have areas with low crime rates and areas of high crime rates.

Our subways could look like that, but there's a huge difference between what can be built using conscripted labor, including artisans and fine craftsmen versus low-bid contracts using the cheapest labor, materials, and designs possible. US standards are: cheap, easy, and low-maintenance.

It sounds like you are admitting that diversity is not a strength but a weakness. Statistics prove you right. The countries with the highest standards of living are all pretty homogenous - Netherlands, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Oman, Austria, Norway ...

Opened in 1913. The USA's "cheap, easy, and low-maintenance" standard of (non-)architecture only really took off after WW2.

Take a look at Pennsylvania Station after it was relegated to the basement in 1963.

I have opened an office in Abu Dhabi and have to travel there for about 2 weeks every quarter. It is astonishing how nice Abu Dhabi and Dubai are. Everything is clean, everyone at the airport is diligent and competent, everything is safe, they have gleaming parks everywhere without a wino, gang member or spec of trash visible. It seems to be a beautiful place to raise a family.

I understand that life is only like that for the expats and small minority citizenry, and not the teeming mass of Indian and Filipino labor that makes up the lower class work force, however if you are wealthy, it is an absolutely phenomenal place.

Our downtowns are absolute embarrassments to the country and its citizens. Our government workers are clowns. It's too tall of an order to ask our country to compete with a tiny petrobillionaire state, but we should expect better

Look at El Salvador, all it takes is political will. You have to have someone who is willing to stand up and say "ok we aren't going to permit that anymore", and has to literally round up, remove and detain, those that violate the new social contract.

We can have a spotless country, we just have to be willing to unleash the hounds on the homeless and the drug addicted.

Or completely overhaul the culture, which is impossible too. Everywhere we went in Japan was extremely clean and safe. Japan is not an example of an authoritarian police state, so how do they do it? It's due to the unique combination of Buddhist and Shinto practices and the pervasive "politeness" ingrained in their culture. It's admirable, but no other country would be able to replicate it.
