Been to SF lately? Unless you're the head of the CCP chances are your visit won't be to a "beautiful city". In a beautiful setting, with great weather? Sure. But while you're walking and enjoying the view, make sure to look down so you don't step in a pile of human ****, or on a dirty needle. And if you park on the street make sure you leave the doors unlocked, and put a note on the window saying it's unlocked and please don't break my window. And when you go to one of the few remaining drugstores to get a soda, politely ask the clerk to come unlock the merchandise and pay no mind to the armed private security guard. I could go on. The city is ****ing filthy.

Been to Moscow as well as St. Petersburg. The "Soviet" areas that were supposed to be examples of Marxist superiority were well policed, safe, and clean. Go off the tour bus route, though, and it looks and smells just like any other big metropolitan area.

So judging by your posts and your OP, this is exactly what I thought it was. You're not interested in honest discussion at all.

I've only ever been to Domodedovo airport in Moscow, so I only got to see what that was like on the ground. Outside of being like a time warp into the late 80's or early 90's, it was crowded but unextraordinary. The rest I have only ever seen from the air.

I did live a total of about 6 months in Singapore, and though all parts of it aren't quite as clean and orderly as you hear about, it is quite safe if you stay within the rules. It is a sort of benign authoritarian place, with a subtle social hierarchy, but it is generally safe and law abiding, as the alternative is rather rapid and brutal justice. Just don't be too critical of the government vocally.
