When the actual oral arguments happen in the Supreme Court for this case would it be wise for Texas to threaten to leave the union if they rule against Texas. I am sure one of the justices will ask something along the lines of what would Texas do if we allow the Feds or something like that. Would it be wise to say we would be forced to leave the union to protect our citizens. Greg Abbot was elected to protect the citizens of Texas. That is his number one goal. Since the Feds won't do it, he has to do it. If Feds won't protect Texas, and if the Supreme Court forces Texas to not protect itself, the only option is for us to began the process of leaving the union. That way we can actually protect Texans.

I am not talking about a true Texit that we all dream about. But you would see if Roberts would call his bluff. We all know Roberts votes a lot of times to not cause big waves. Wouldn't that put him in a bind, and cause him to vote in favor of Texas's case? He wouldn't want his court to be part of the reason why the first state leaves the union since the Civil War. He and some of justices wouldn't have the balls to call Abbot's bluff. I don't think Robert's, Barrett, and Kavanugh would be willing to take that risk. They would feel obligated to vote in favor of Texas to preserve the union.

Maybe wishful thinking, but if that worked it would be legendary. Only Texas would be able to pull that off. Who knows other states may follow. We know Desantis would. Maybe the only time Abbot beats Ron to the punch.

It would be a fair statement to say that the federal government has broken its pact with the People of Texas and that we have a right to go our own way if we choose to.

That is true. Desantis even said in his video the other day that Texas would have never joined the union if they knew the feds weren't going to protect them in the case of an invasion. The contract has been broken by the feds, so Texas can leave now if they want to.

Quote:

Look at the difference in how individual states are responding to the border invasion compared to how the Senate is responding. The states rightly see a massive threat to their own sovereignty and security, but most senators don't care. And that is a perfect illustration of why the 17th Amendment, which eliminated the right of state legislatures to appoint their own representatives in Washington, was such a disaster.

Congress was designed to represent the two most important sovereign entities in America: the people, and the states. The House would be elected by the people and represent their interests. The Senate would be elected by the states and represent their interests.

States no longer have any representation in Washington. The House still represents the people, but the modern Senate really only represents the lobbyists and industries who pay to put the senators in office every six years.

Why would senators like McConnell and Romney and Young feel so comfortable giving their states the middle finger on issue after issue after issue? Why is McConnell so much more interested in pushing Ukraine funding and open borders amnesty? Because the very mechanism designed by the founders to keep corrupt people like McConnell in check was gutted by the 17th amendment. He's accountable only to Boeing and Raytheon and the Chamber of Commerce, because it's their money that keeps in office.

His anger today at not being able to get away with lying to everyone about his plan to keep the border open is a function of him not being used to states asserting their own authority. He's not used to being told what to do by the people who pay this nation's bills, and it infuriates him.

By all means, let's keep it up.

If he's smart he wont. Completely has the upper hand. If this administration wants to go full communist dictator and try to take control by force let's see it. That won't go over well across the country.

It took 3 years to get here, and here's why.

When Biden chit his pants on inaugaration day in 2021, Dr. Jill Biden cleaned him up and he swiftly went and undid all of Trump's border policies with a stroke of a pen and a schart.

People had to come in, as they continued to come in, threats had to be made by the border states to "share the wealth." When nothing changed, Florida and Texas said "OK" and put Washington DC, New York, and Chicago on their express lanes, and began sending people to these beautiful utopias where illegals are welcomed with open arms, free money, new victims, and a clean rap sheet.

As more and more and more arrived, it began to strain the systems of these cities and put pressure on it's citizens who were used to surviving due to Mommy Government. Well, the poor minority groups in these cities who have been sucking the government tit their whole lives suddenly realized they were being weaned off and replaced with their new neighbors from the south. That's when they realized their minority status has been moved down a notch, which caused uproar due to the thought of actually having to work to survive vs being a lazy piece of chit.

You'd think the leaders of these blue liberal utopias would care, but they don't. They essentially told them to STFU and even kicked their kids out of school so their new neighbors could have a place to sleep. "**** THEM KIDS!" they were told. If they get an education, the odds of them needing the government decreases, so get home and on the streets.

After all of that, now was the time to take a stand. Do it early on and you don't have the support you do because nobody has felt the pain and are still going off their feelings and ignorance. But not now. Now they understand the negatives of having open border policies. They're feeling the financial strain that Texas and her border towns have been feeling for years. They see Biden's failed border policies first hand. They're angry and they want change.

Now it's an election year and Abbott has full support of millions of non-Texans behind him, so now is the time to do it, and the timing has put Biden in Kamala's favorite position...bent over a barrel. If Biden sends in troops, that's a political loser for him. If Biden backs down, it shows he's weaker than his sphincter. And then there's Trump. Amazingly, he's kept quiet about this and is letting it play out knowing this is a huge positive for him. Biden owns this 100%, and no choice he has is a winner.

Very accurate. What can't be overlooked is part 2 of this act. Even if this ends Biden and the Democrats for the 2024 election. With as many illegal immigrants that have come in the past 3 years the Republicans can in no way agree to any sort of border security deal that gives voting rights to those here. No amnesty. Democrats would have accomplished the goal of this invasion if that is agreed to.

You're right about not agreeing to a deal, but in the end I'm not sure if it will matter. Even if we don't give them amnesty, their anchor babies will be voting in 20-30 years.
I'm voting for DeSantis in the primary, but will happily vote for Trump in the general election if he wins the primary.

No doubt that's true. At that point welfare reform will be the most important. Reduce or eliminate the ability to buy votes with welfare.

My idea for welfare reform is make people who get welfare show up in person and get a check every day after waiting in an office for 8 hours.

This is a very insightful post. There are 2 sovereign groups: the people and the states. The states are getting shafted. And as a result, the people. The Feds see themselves as the sole sovereign. And they aren't supposed to be sovereign at all.

Damn, I wish the other border states, like Arizona where I live, had these types of Governors. This could really take off with the states finally giving the FEDs the finger...Arizona tried it for a while about a decade or so ago, but lost every Supreme Court case and got into tons of lawsuits with activist groups over immigration that lasted years.

If you think about it, would any sitting President have the balls to actually use military force or law enforcement action on state authorities over something like this? It would literally be career suicide or worse...Half the country at least would be in a total uproar...It puts Biden between a rock and a hard place to say the least..

You have a lot more faith in government employees having a desire for morality over upsetting their bosses. There are only a handful of instances I can think of where they deserve the benefit of the doubt and significantly more instances showing we should not put our faith in them.
