You're the one playing games. Reality is this is a vote for Trump or Biden election. It really is a vote what's best for your family moment. If you do not agree then vote how you see fit. I choose to believe that when you break down everything we face Trump in this case is best for my family.

That means I choose to look past his personality flaws and focus on his record from term 1. I did well and my pocketbook fared better. I see the appeal for a better candidate but it is not an option that means anything. Get over it if you do not like Trump you cannot convince me Biden is a better option.

Interesting thought here… assuming no 2028 run, wouldn't the best way to catapult himself to the presidency be becoming governor in another conservative state (Texas?) and do what he did for Florida?

Senate might be a good option. Or a high level cabinet position should Trump win.

Otherwise, a talk show? Something to keep him top of mind in 2028. By then, we will probably have a whole new set of candidates
He needs to stay TF out of the administration. It would taint him for both MAGA and Not Trump.

I agree unless it's something like UN rep or something that gets news.

The question was how does he stay relevant and I don't see how he can unless he gets a talk show, goes to the senate, or is a part of trumps administration

I think he's good in terms of historical politicians. Problem is Trump is WWE and his followers eat it up. We have a lot of dumb voters that care about the dumbest traits

The WWE example is apt. Smoke and mirrors. All fake. People act like it's real. All about personalities, little substance

Too many people are blind to one of the major reasons people want to vote the name DJT this cycle: they are sick of this corrupt broken system and a vote for the name DJT represents a middle finger to said broken and corrupt system.

The vote isn't for the person, but rather against the system.

DeSantis represents an incredibly skilled conservative politician working within said system, but the system still remains. That is a short term gain but does not resonate to those that see beyond the short term. People are sick of the "most important election" mantra or the "we just need both chambers and the President and then we can make progress" excuses.

The GOP dig its grave.
D.C. abused its power and lost the trust of a large portion of the populace.
DJT represents no more status quo, even if he doesn't do a single thing his entire term. Right leaning people are fed up with the two tier system and their vote shows it.

I thinkbthats a valid point of view. Trump does indeed equal disruption way more than any other option.

But, the general election will not be kind to such point of view and the middle finger will ultimately end up pointed at the very people trying to throw it

Should DeSantis have embraced Trump at the beginning? Trump was the most conservative POTUS in a long time, even more than Regan according to actual conservative research. DeSantis could have ridden that and been Trump's VP. Get his name out there as a serious national contender.

He could have learned how to appeal to the masses, run an efficient NATIONAL campaign and set himself up well for 2028. But his awful campaign cost him. His campaign was such a disaster, he was able to get the most popular politician to back him and still lose by an huge margins.

And his focus was Iowa. He put everything he had there. Went out prior to the caucus and "secured" backers.

And now that term limits put him out of Florida governor role, I'm not sure what his next step is. Maybe run for congress? Dude needs to do something to get back to relevance.

He had great potential. It's too bad what he did to himself. He just wasn't ready for a national campaign.

DeSantis will finish second tonight. Diagnosing his doomed from the start campaign is not hard and he did not do anything wrong really, he is getting second place in all the rural counties Trump is dominating in. People like him, they just like Trump more. Outside of the very small message board universe there are very few people who like one but don't like the other. If Trump doesn't exist he wins, but Trump does exist, so he was never going to win.

The only thing that makes sense is DeSantis thought Trump's legal issues would force Trump to withdraw and DeSantis would be ready to take the nomination.

What's truly baffling is Haley's rise to even or ahead of DeSantis
She's not that good of a politician,
has no built in constituency ,
has no policy points that she is winning on
is not really a conservative and
she is probably going to get to the convention with the second most delegates

Because she talks like she's conservative and most of the country has zero clue about her record in SC. Everyone that has heard her speak since this started sees a strong conservative outside of possibly 1-2 topics.

Im confused why this board almost unanimously says she's not. We are ignoring the rest of the country that doesn't follow politics like we do.

I should have Haley is not as conservative as DeSantis and if being conservative was important then Haley should not be beating DrSantis

The best thing for the GOP/country is for DeSantis to take the title of the anti-establishment and anti corrupt system status quo but he has yet to do that. Most MAGA want a conservative and acknowledge DeSantis is that, but more importantly want the corrupt system fixed rather than navigated.

IF trump wins the primary with great overall Trump/DeSantis total votes AND loses the general because the DeSantis camp couldn't hold their nose, middle fingers will go both ways but at least we're honest that the system is flawed.

IF DeSantis wins the primary but doesn't embrace a desire to fix, rather than navigate, the corrupt system then don't expect a decent portion of MAGA to fall for the "most important election" or "no vote is a vote for D" excuses.

He's gaining some ground here with his FBI, DOJ, and debt clock comments but hopefully it isn't too little too late.

No. You have a choice in the primary to NOT choose someone that will lose to Biden.

When you choose him, that's on YOU, not others.

When someone says they're not voting for Trump, don't start tossing blame at them when they don't vote Trump. You knew they wouldn't and you chose Trump anyways. That's YOUR fault.

It's like someone telling you that touching the stove will burn your hand and then when you defiantly touch the stove you want to blame them for not stopping you. No...you did that to yourself.

Actually, he mostly talks about policy and the leaders state we've become. But I get that all you may hear are nicknames. That's OK. The majority of voters hear everything else.

What majority? Trump hasn't ever gotten a majority of voters in a general election. Sure, he has dominated the primaries, but he even lost against Hillary in that election in actual votes.

He drastically overestimated Trump's vulnerability and the openness of Trump's base to alternatives (I sure did). Trump did a poor job crafting covid policies, spent way too much, and hasn't been able to let go of 2020. I'm guessing DeSantis thought that the combo would be the last straw that would break off a huge army of Republicans who craved a republican with a spine, but could no longer tolerate Trump's unserious inanity and drama. That turned out to be wrong. that group is much smaller than expected and there's instead a huge contingent of Republicans who are forever Trump and will vote for him no matter what any other candidate says or has done.

Trump = 51%

Hope he runs again next go round and I hope more people get in his camp.

Time to get on the trump train. You titty babies having a meltdown need to take a page out of what you accuse trump of not being able to do and humble yourself to vote Republican to get the Dems out.

I won't hold my breath.

Don't go against the Don or his mafia will get you.

The feds helped trump out an immeasurable amount by indicting him. It galvanized trumps core and pulled in alot of those on the edge.

Holy **** the Desantis copium on this thread is disgusting.

I said two years ago this would happen. Not because I have a crystal ball but because I talked to people non stop int canvassing.

Everyone liked Desantis but the second he went against trump he wrote his own death warrant.
It was obvious a year and a half ago as it is now.

Wish he would've waited. Whomever told him to go for it was foolish or fine with expending and ruining perhaps the best Republican candidate we have had in 30 years.

Hope he runs again next go round and I hope more people get in his camp.

I'm not voting for an 80yo POS lib.

You can hold your breath or not.
