Ukrainians claiming the attack on Crimea resulted in the damage of a missile cruiser. Sat photos from Platet Labs seem to confirm damage to the area.

How can anyone argue that it is anything but a stalemate. The lines have changed little in 6 months.
Ukes are running out of ammo and places to attack given their capabilities (no significant naval or air assets to outflank)

Russia seems content to dig in and hold with an occasional meat grinder offensive thrown in (which gets smashed).

WWI type situation = advantage Orcs as long as the Russian populace is willing to send their sons and resources into this fight of Putin's

About all Ukraine can do is a river crossing or amphibious attack in the western area. If they had the ability. There are not extensive defenses opposite the Dnipro river, so if they could bridge it and protect or move the bridges, faster moving forces could move beyond it without that much resistance.

Unfortunately, western armor is very heavy, and bridges are very vulnerable to guided munitions

Friendly reminder that Russia lost in WWI despite having major advantages in population numbers, and this was before the Revolutions. It's been a while since I've looked extensively into it, but I believe Germany outsmarted and outmaneuvered them quite a bit.

Numbers don't equal victory, but Ukraine does need to adjust its strategy.

Ukes are also running out of soldiers. There are reports that they can't deploy some western weapons systems due to a manpower shortage.

I'd take those reports about as seriously as the ones saying Russia was running out of missiles over a year ago.

To be fair. Russia sure has shot lot less missiles a lot less frequently since those reports came out.

I don't see Russia looking a fool and having to rely on Iran drones if they didn't have to. Their pride wouldn't allow it. Just like they can't admit they can't launch a real offensive now. So they continue to degrade themselves in meat waves.

Those reports are from Time Magazine citing Ukrainian defense officials not some random telegram account.

The average age of a Ukranian soldier is now 43 years old.

…the shortage of personnel has become even more dire than the deficit in arms and ammunition. One of Zelensky's close aides tells me that even if the U.S. and its allies come through with all the weapons they have pledged, "we don't have the men to use them."

Someone in the Ukraine leadership thought having a ceremony with a bunch of troops gathered together was a good idea. At least 19 dead and dozens injured.

Another year without major advances in the east, south, or into Crimea. Ukraine did make advances but not as far as they needed to in order to take Crimea any time soon. Without Crimea their naval ability is almost nothing compared to the Russians.

Hubris will always rear its head sadly. A sister company lost 10 dead and 11 wounded from pretty much the same scenario the deployment before my first. Promotion ceremony outside the wire at the height of OIF. A single IED got them all.

To my knowledge no one got burned for our incident. It's frustrating to see Ukes die this way as well but we are certainly no strangers to it either. Some lessons need to be hammered home more than once.

Russia has fired (and produced) more missiles and drones recently than ever before.

Ukraine has noted they expect a 'record number' of strikes this winter.

Quote:

Russia has ramped up the production of some military hardware by more than tenfold to supply its army in Ukraine, significantly increasing the output of missiles, drones, combat vehicles and artillery, Russia's biggest weapons producer said on Tuesday.

President Vladimir Putin has ordered production to be cranked up to ensure Moscow achieves the aims of what he calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine despite the West supplying Kyiv with weapons worth billions of dollars and imposing unprecedented Western sanctions on the Russian economy.

Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the armament complex at Rostec, the Russian state corporation which controls much of the weapons industry, said production volumes for various types of weapons had increased from between two and 10 times.

Per your link this is all typical Russian BS from the same tired Russian mouthpieces. Not what this thread is for.

That looks consistent with the minor damage you'd expect from falling missile debris. Nothing to see here, another success for Russian air defense. An award ceremony has been scheduled near the window of a tall building.

We are making 10 times the green camo paint we made last year!

How many more T-90 are you making to put that paint on?

Whoa whoa whoa

What are we supposed to believe, the Russian government, or the pictures and video? The Russian defense ministry would NEVER lie, so obviously this is all fake.

But yeah that thing is ****ed. Can't imagine it's worth repairing when half of it has been gutted. If may still float, but it's effectively gone.

Oh, come on now. That little ding will buff out and the corvette will be lobbying cruise missiles at Ukrainian kindergartens in no time.

Ukraine says they need 600,000 rounds of artillery a month to fight the Russians. From the guys that have spent time on the ground in Ukraine they said this is mostly an artillery volley back and forth with little movement underneath. This summer we saw more armoured vehicle movement but artillery to cover them was missing. Both Russia and Ukraine have the same problem which is communication. Russia sends conscripts forward without caring if they are in the line of fire and Ukraine more or less has militia type groups. They are better than Russia at combined arms but not as a whole army

Ryan Hendrickson said it best, its just money being shot back and forth at this point.

Russia has 8 (of those) corvettes in service, with 30 planned, 3 in production. (Wikipedia). Not a real big tactical/strategic impact to have one in dry dock longer than planned. They just added a second line/shipyard to produce these:

Quote:

An additional order of eight corvettes of the project 20380 (and an additional two of the project 20385) was made in August 2020. Some of the ships may reportedly be built at the Amur Shipyard as destined for the Pacific Fleet, while others could be built at Severnaya Verf.

Fox 2/7 on December 1, 2005. I knew Andy Stevens well. As I heard the details after 2/7 returned from deployment, the skipper wanted to hold a formation for promotions on the first of the month inside an old flour factory that they had been using for a patrol base. It had been swept for IEDs but they missed one. The battalion had been deployed for five months and had not lost a single Marine until that day.

I have no idea. Probably only a couple in the next year anyway. They have "4 fleets" but I imagine that one gets more priority at the moment.

Unless they are building it in the Black Sea, they arent getting sh%t from any other shipyard.
