How can anyone argue that it is anything but a stalemate. The lines have changed little in 6 months.
Friendly reminder that Russia lost in WWI despite having major advantages in population numbers, and this was before the Revolutions. It's been a while since I've looked extensively into it, but I believe Germany outsmarted and outmaneuvered them quite a bit.2wealfth Man said:Ukes are running out of ammo and places to attack given their capabilities (no significant naval or air assets to outflank)bonfarr said:

Russia seems content to dig in and hold with an occasional meat grinder offensive thrown in (which gets smashed).
WWI type situation = advantage Orcs as long as the Russian populace is willing to send their sons and resources into this fight of Putin's
Ukes are also running out of soldiers. There are reports that they can't deploy some western weapons systems due to a manpower shortage.2wealfth Man said:Ukes are running out of ammo and places to attack given their capabilities (no significant naval or air assets to outflank)bonfarr said:

I'd take those reports about as seriously as the ones saying Russia was running out of missiles over a year ago.lb3 said:Ukes are also running out of soldiers. Those reports are from Time Magazine citing Ukrainian defense officials not some random telegram account.Waffledynamics said:I'd take those reports about as seriously as the ones saying Russia was running out of missiles over a year ago.lb3 said:Ukes are also running out of soldiers. …the shortage of personnel has become even more dire than the deficit in arms and ammunition. One of Zelensky's close aides tells me that even if the U.S. and its allies come through with all the weapons they have pledged, "we don't have the men to use them."

Russia has fired (and produced) more missiles and drones recently than ever before.AgLA06 said:
To be fair. Russia sure has shot lot less missiles a lot less frequently since those reports came out.
I don't see Russia looking a fool and having to rely on Iran drones if they didn't have to. Their pride wouldn't allow it. Just like they can't admit they can't launch a real offensive now. So they continue to degrade themselves in meat waves.

Russia has ramped up the production of some military hardware by more than tenfold to supply its army in Ukraine, significantly increasing the output of missiles, drones, combat vehicles and artillery, Russia's biggest weapons producer said on Tuesday.
President Vladimir Putin has ordered production to be cranked up to ensure Moscow achieves the aims of what he calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine despite the West supplying Kyiv with weapons worth billions of dollars and imposing unprecedented Western sanctions on the Russian economy.
Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the armament complex at Rostec, the Russian state corporation which controls much of the weapons industry, said production volumes for various types of weapons had increased from between two and 10 times.

Oh, come on now. That little ding will buff out and the corvette will be lobbying cruise missiles at Ukrainian kindergartens in no time.ABATTBQ11 said:

What are we supposed to believe, the Russian government, or the pictures and video? The Russian defense ministry would NEVER lie, so obviously this is all fake.
But yeah that thing is ****ed. Can't imagine it's worth repairing when half of it has been gutted. If may still float, but it's effectively gone.

An additional order of eight corvettes of the project 20380 (and an additional two of the project 20385) was made in August 2020. Some of the ships may reportedly be built at the Amur Shipyard as destined for the Pacific Fleet, while others could be built at Severnaya Verf.
Businesses in Kyiv are preparing for the worst. The military on Nov. 6 warned that Russia is “waiting for the temperature to drop below zero” before launching mass strikes on Ukraine’s energy system. https://t.co/wzpnyAXqjy

Hubris will always rear its head sadly. A sister company lost 10 dead and 11 wounded from pretty much the same scenario the deployment before my first. Promotion ceremony outside the wire at the height of OIF. A single IED got them all.
To my knowledge no one got burned for our incident. It's frustrating to see Ukes die this way as well but we are certainly no strangers to it either. Some lessons need to be hammered home more than once.
