Agreed. Though the one duma member is ok with his 10 year old eventually fighting in this war, his mother may not. They can't keep the BS flowing that long without society demanding a complete withdrawal.
They were aiming for a regime change and they firmly cemented the Ukrainian identify and culture apart from Russia. For generations.
Meanwhile the WW2 strategy of collapse till winter sets in won't work this time around.

Not to derail too far from this Ukrainian specific thread, but it bears repeating that Russia and China believe they are in a literal war against us. As has been mentioned earlier today/yesterday on this thread, Putin very well may lose in Ukraine but not before inflicting a massive economic and societal blow to all of Europe.
