Vladislav Inozemtsev assess the losses of Russian market at two months before today at around $230bln. Says next few days might amount to similar amount of losses. So most likely half a trillion $ already

Just like Russian troops attacking Ukraine from the eastern flank have 'Z' marking on their vehicles, the troops attacking from Belarus use 'O' and 'V'. Depending on the direction of the attack, it seems. I think none of Vs have crossed the border yet pic.twitter.com/vYlRrxEwHi

1. This isn't the US in Iraq circa 91 or 03, Russia is using some cruise missiles and PGMs to hit targets but they are not conducting comprehensive strikes
Long thread but he has a point in sensors and nav capabilities.

I wonder how much of the EU's lack of response is due to the fact that they are dependent on Russian oil and gas for energy needs.
Russian forces, including T-72B3 tanks with roof screens, MT-LB, D-30 howitzers, R-149MA1 C2 vehicles, Zhitel EW system, and trucks with the "Z" marker, have reportedly made their way from Crimea to the North Crimean Canal on the Dnieper River.https://t.co/EroOY6rQR3 pic.twitter.com/PL0g0HWrmS

Russian chopper stung by a Stinger. The war, so far, is not going as well as perhaps the Kremlin had hoped. The Ukrainian army are not Syrian farmers. They have good western kit. And lo: war is never easy. #Putin pleas note.https://t.co/P9HN1JrlLy pic.twitter.com/pXh3Pjk4ss

NEW: The U.S. has indications that Russia is preparing reserve forces and their version of the National Guard for the invasion of Ukraine: senior defense U.S. official.
— Jack Detsch (@JackDetsch) February 23, 2022
"The indication would be that [Russia] have long term goals" to stay in Ukraine, the official said.

I hope he's right, but we lost 750 men in just one training exercise in WW2. The war machine cares little about a few deaths/equipment losses. I'm sure these are expected losses.
they definitely aren't obligated to, but while defending Ukraine may not be directly in NATOs obligation or even interest, the argument could be made that it is in NATOs interest to not have a Russia that feels they can invade a sovereign nation with impunity as a next door neighbor. Basically take the fight on someone else's turf to ensure you don't have to fight it at home. I don't know if that's enough of a reason, but it is an argument that at least holds some sway with me.Jay Reimenschneider said:
Sorry man, but why would nato come to their assistance if they aren't a part of NATO?
Perhaps no overt help……hopefully there are folks there to help advise and make it a meat grinder for Russia in terms of IEDs, snipers, etc…..Rossticus said:
NATO Sec Gen just officially announced (not that there was much question) that they will not offer any assistance of any kind to Ukraine. So, at least Ukraine can dispense with hope and embrace despair. Heartbreaking to see them come to the realization on social media that they're dead men walking.
