Phoenix and F-14 were developed together and nothing else could employ them. Having said that AIM-54 was retired 20 years ago and in the last years of the F-14 even they no longer could use them.

Also fighters armed with Phoenix would still not come close to outranging Russia's bombers. F-14's were meant to intercept bombers over the ocean. Ukraine would have to intercept them deep inside Russia or Belarus and well within their air defenses

New US aid package for Ukraine.

"The 59 Bradley IFVs included in this package, together with the 50 Bradleys previously committed on January 6, and the 90 Stryker APCs will provide Ukraine with two brigades of armored capability," the Pentagon's press release about this new aid package adds."

Our church has been supporting a network of churches in Poland for many years. The main one happens to be on the border with Ukraine so of course they have been intimately involved in taking relief supplies into Kiev since the war began. Our church actually bought a 20k generator for them just last month.

Their team that goes into Ukraine has been protected by 12 members of Ukraine's national guard. Through this time they have become close friends.

This morning we learned that yesterday 11 of those 12 were killed in a missile strike.

Losses like that for groups operating so far from the front suggest that Russian missile strikes are more accurate and effective than we might like to believe.

I suspect the Schroeder and Merkel administrations more than decimated German military integrity and he needs to keep damage control on the down low. He cannot give their all, only a portion of which is likely functioning. I wouldn't be surprised if he inherited an army with a lower percentage if operable equipment than Russia.
With this ongoing flood of equipment, where are all involved with planning and replacing what was shipped out. At this pace, a low to medium intensity conflict between Nork and South Korea would shut it all down (assuming a needle is threaded where it somehow stays a Korean fight w/o China or the US engaged). Hell, even a skirmish between India an Pakistan would draw resources and capacities that are scarce.

If they are thinking Russia is planning a new major attack, Ukraine may actually be trying to build a larger mobile reserve to counterattack it, once it is initiated. If it could be stalled while concentrated then artillery could do some major damage.

Here's a nice example of how the US conducts security cooperation with allies. It's written as lessons-learned for Taiwan, but the recommended model is the US training mission to the Baltics and Ukraine. Good reminder that we've been helping Ukraine for almost a decade and its early battlefield success likely would not have occurred without our extended assistance beforehand.

Sure don't see it happen often, but there's an unidentified aircraft over Ukraine at the moment showing up on the ADS Exchange. Drone?

Edit to say looks like it took off from Turkey.

With an airspeed of 60 kts and flying at 6500 feet with a callsign of FCKPTN2, I suspect a Ukrainian drone.

No definitive mention of GLSDBs but launchable from HIMARS and they do say HIMARS munitions. Hopefully some are in there and if it was me I would not mention specifics either.

IMO between the continued recent attacks on CIVs and after almost 2 months of absolute russian infantry getting smashed with no signs of putin giving up, the west has decided to give UKR enough to start pushing back the lines. Specifically for me I don't think putin gives a crap about his own soldier losses but I do believe this bully always wants to keep plenty enough weapons around and he is starting to run low in both weapons and arty munitions. The armor/AC losses in the last 2 months have not been near what they were in the first 8-9 months but if UKR can go back to destroying their high price weapons I think we will see a significant pull back in some areas.

How to do this:

I see more and more combined arms attacks against fortified orc trenches by the Ukes. Given the right combination and training It would be nice to see some blitzkrieg moves past the trenches with some of the armor and get to the arty lines destroying a fire group at a time then pull back as needed. I think the Armor coming will be appropriate for this type of attack.

Third of seven German floating LNG terminals operational in record time. When all working will supply a third of Germany's gas needs. Combined with increased Norwegian pipeline gas, puts Germany in a much more secure position.

One of the things I haven't seen mentioned in a while is that Russia has been able to deploy some good jamming systems to the front to establish cover for troop movements and to help prevent drone recon. Ukes are having a much harder time getting good real-time data from overhead in many areas.

It does seem that this war may not be winnable by simply killing Russians.

I agree, but I think Russia will run out of munitions and equipment before they run out of conscripts.
Not on artillery and bullets right?

What is the shelf life of 152mm/130mm shells?
20 years? 30?
I can't imagine the Russians storing them in good conditions either. However, those should be easy to manufacture i would think?

The Russians are never going to be as good or bad as we are told. Same with the Ukrainians.

That being said, what a sad story. When it's all said and done, there's no telling how many millions of lives will be lost as a result of this conflict.

No way millions. But the actual ongoing tragedy is that Ukraine is having to contribute to its own destruction in order to defend itself. An even greater tragedy would be if after all their sacrifices they lose their freedom anyway.

DOH, that's probably what the TOWs are for.
Always loved the TOW launcher on the Bradley's , very compact and aesthetically pleasing.

This is interesting. The argument against Abrams seems to have been the turbine engine would be different than what they know and be able to maintain. According to this article, Ukraine is running T-80BV in 7 airborne brigades and it also has a turbine engine. Apparently their airborne group prefer them over all others because if their speed.

Wasn't too long ago finding ammunition in the US has hard and it was extremely expensive, given that I could see Russia having shortages and not being able to make it quickly enough
