Anyone know how good the S-300s are in terms of ground attack ballistic missiles? Haven't found much about them in that role. Just wondering how effective they are versus their dedicated stuff like the Iskander.

My personal analysis of how the war is going, which is about as accurate as any other random yahoo being posted on here throwing out their WAGs

If nothing else, the general chaos of war.

That's how we have gotten our hands on a bonanza of advanced Russian gear during this fight, for example.

I don't see how the Russians can keep taking losses like that without another mobilization soon.

I would probably say Stalingrad was worse. Just a hunch.

That could be true for front line equipment like tanks and equipment and arms. But not for things like patriot systems kept in major cities and used for air defense. Even HIMARS can be kept a long way behind enemy lines or highly protected with a method to destroy if damaged.

The bigger question is for what equipment left is that an issue? Between Iraq, Syria, and the billions of dollars of equipment willingly left in Afghanistan, Russia and China already have their hands on far more state secrets than we've supplied to Ukraine.

Outside of new technology since those decades of military action, there probably isn't much left. They've had access to downed helicopters and jets and drones. They've had access to SOF vehicles and communications not to mention javelin, and stringers.

An Abrams maybe?

From that list of items in the latest batch, i would say M109s and the precision 155m rounds would be the most sensitive i.e. wouldn't want Russians getting their hands on that.
The rest (while still miles ahead of what the Ruskies have) doesn't seem cutting edge.

This is a good list.
I anticipate a lot of wastage because some of this is going to be a logistics nightmare.
For example, Ukraine will get Bradleys, Marders, and have existing BMP-2s, BMP3s (and maybe even BMP1s) - and that's just MICVs!

Still, this is a good list from the US. Claymores are interesting, as are the 500 155mm precision guided rounds.

Wagner is currently holed up in this salt mine. I believe this mine is supposed to have more salt than The Zoo after the Appalachian State game this year, so it's big.

I agree, but I think Russia will run out of munitions and equipment before they run out of conscripts.

The only thing that will move the needle in Moscow is a Ukrainian counteroffensive to retake the coast and seriously threaten Crimea.

The only reason I can imagine Ukraine is just trying to do just enough to hold Bakhmut is they are preoccupied shifting resources that direction to strike as soon as the ground freezes.

Mobilize a half million conscripts using what uniforms, weapons, and training? It already seems like they're out of the last two, but you'd figure they'd like them all to at least look the same before getting shot up.

…… and I don't know how the Russian economy is going to take the strain of losing all that manpower. Labor for agriculture and industry was barely sufficient even before the war started.

Giving Ukraine Bradleys won't do much good if they don't know how to employ them properly.

COMBINED ARMS

Seems they've proven they can do combined arms just fine in Kharkiv.

Glad we're starting training back up. Seems like a half dozen countries are now doing something similar. That's essentially a brigade a month of trained troops ready to take on civilians who don't want to be there.

Ukraine's regular army is competent, but it has had little chance for proper in-country training of new recruits and new units since the war started.

Other countries are providing infantry training and weapon system training, but the US is the only one that I'm aware of that is providing combined arms training. Much more complex.
