One of the good things about this trial is that more conservative-leaning people now understand how bad prosecutors, confusing instructions, and other issues with the process may affect the ability of defendants to get fair trials. What's happening here is not all that uncommon. Prosecutors out for convictions, not really seeking truth or justice. All these lesser includeds, the gun charge that wasn't justified by evidence, trying to skirt the judge's prior rulings, last-minute "found" evidence that the defense didn't have time to properly investigate, etc.
Imagine if Kyle had a public defender with limited resources and a huge caseload.
