Has anyone told the Duggar family they have to split up yet?

Crazy story from New Orleans. Severe lung damage in folks in their 40s, ventilators on highest settings and they still gasp for air. Pink frothy secretions in breathing tubes. Running out of PPE.

Why? The virus isn't transmitted by bloodAgsMyDude said:
Are they testing everyone at blood donation centers?
No, they told me that no human coronavirus is transmissible by blood donation including SARS and MERS which are very genetically similar. They're doing the usual screening - temperature, BP, questionnaire including recent travel.AgsMyDude said:

I mean I'd much prefer the person drawing my blood hasn't been in close contact with a carrier but maybe that's just me.txyaloo said:Why? The virus isn't transmitted by bloodAgsMyDude said:

Just because comorbidities exist doesn't mean those people were going to die. A person who has high blood pressure may be able to live for decades longer. The point they're making is that yeah, that person is unhealthy and is more at risk for this disease...but high blood pressure doesn't cause ARDS and death in a week or two.Quote:
Italy has had 12 462 confirmed cases according to the Istituto Superiore di Sanita as of March 11, and 827 deaths. Only China has recorded more deaths due to this COVID-19 outbreak. The mean age of those who died in Italy was 81 years and more than two-thirds of these patients had diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, or cancer, or were former smokers. It is therefore true that these patients had underlying health conditions, but it is also worth noting that they had acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia, needed respiratory support, and would not have died otherwise. Of the patients who died, 42.2% were aged 8089 years, 32.4% were aged 7079 years, 8.4% were aged 6069 years, and 2.8% were aged 5059 years (those aged >90 years made up 14.1%). The male to female ratio is 80% to 20% with an older median age for women (83.4 years for women vs 79.9 years for men).

Any likelihood of letting people donate more often? 16 weeks is a dang long time between power reds. Can't I pound red meat and be back in the game sooner?

Darn I was hoping for a reason to eat meat during lent.

which isn't matching up with a lot of the anecdotal evidence supplied here
of young people dead long before the 80 year old plus cohort numbers are stacking up

Dr Hellerstadt (sp?) is wearing a jacket that is too small.
He wants to remind us about preventative measures. Already working hard to do more prevention.
He is emphasising that we are in the EARLY stages of community spread. This time in critical to try to do as much as we can to prevent spread. He is encouraged by Texans taking this seriously. These measures will greatly reduce the community spread. Thank you. We can defeat this.
Cheif... I didn't catch his name.
He's making sure we remember that this is not the first time this has happened in Texas. Thanks the first responders, reminds us that our response is in our control.
