A friend of mine told me (and my team) not to have contact with anyone in Brazos County that you are not sure is 100% not infected with the Chinese Virus. He is concerned about the community spread here of not only the number of cases, but the type of cases. He warned us to please precaution ourselves and to not have contact with anyone until the "spread" has leveled off in Brazos county. Again, unless you know someone is not infected with 100% certainty...do not contact....Because you can never really know that, do not come in contact with anyone.

Looks like Spain (specifically Madrid) is well on it's way to being Italy 2.0.

Per worldometers latest numbers, Spain has 3076 new cases and 344 new deaths today so far, and it's only early afternoon there. They seem to release numbers in multiple batches daily, so I wouldn't be surprised if those numbers increase. The daily death count already blows always the 288 deaths reported yesterday, which was the highest daily total prior to today of course.

Totals for Spain now, 28,572 with 1,725 deaths. Not good at all.

I'm finally 50/50. Got 30% early when this started. I've sold more later. My adviser and his company refused to accept the reality of this. Based on this and B/I board, I told him what's coming (panic, supply chain issues, stock market sell off).

ZERO of his analysts saw it coming and didn't recommend stocks like Kroger or Dominos or anything else doing "well". He made note and told me he might hire me on as an analyst once we return to some normalcy.

People need to remember that blood is needed for any number of other things. Car accidents still happen, people on chemo need it, people are still shooting each other. Blood isn't being used much for covid19 pts. It's the others that will suffer most from the drop in donations.

I have a niece who is a doctor working in a New Orleans ICU and last week they had 4 patients in their ICU, all on ventilators.

You need to find new analysts. It was clear to anyone who was looking. I was imploring my friends to get out of the market all of February. They laughed. After the big move down in late Feb they called it a buying opportunity. A believer friend and I told my magical thinking friends on Feb 29 the market would have. dead cat bounce of 1,000 points and then free fall to 21,000. They laughed. Again a great buying opportunity they said. Idiots. Now I will have to buy all the dinners when we go out.

This whole crisis is playing out like anyone who understands humans would play out. China didn't shut down their economy for "just the flu". And a disease that sickens enough to overwhelm health systems and kills the old (what age group do political leaders And their friends and financiers fall into) is going to generate a reaction. A big reaction. And read any response plan on pandemics. Economic activity takes a backseat to disease response.

Open your eyes and quit wishful thinking. The Chinese. reacted the way they did for a real reason. The world's larger quarantine didn't happen for "just the flu". I'm out of the market until there is light at the end of the tunnel (the curve actually bends and the soon to be seen large death numbers get digested). I'll be happy to miss 10-20% up from where we are today. I'm risk averse in my portfolio. But I'm sure happy I avoided the 50% down (in a freaking month!) that my original portfolio would have seen if I wasn't a TxAgs subscriber.

I finally convinced my brother and his family to join my family out my place in the country. They arrived yesterday. Huge burden lifted off my shoulders. Everyone is settling in and getting accustomed to a new normal for the foreseeable future. Lots of work to be done but I can get back to hanging out with you fine folks every once in a while.



Everyone has a role in beating this. The simplest thing you can do is support a local business.

They also apparently had mass gatherings a couple weeks ago of 200k+ in Madrid. I'm sure that helped spark more infections as well.

So it looks like our log scale finally broke over on both the patients per day and deaths per day. I think these numbers were calculated at around 7pm last night, and we had a dump of info afterwards. So today might look ugly

It breaks over slightly the last 3 weekends, I think this is only the weekend slow reporting or CDC not working weekends, and nothing to do with it again slowing down

Yeah I had it set to move nest egg to cash and continue pumping into the market buying the drop.

Next time I'll trust myself, not all the "Don't try to time the market" crowd. If I'm wrong, I'll lose out on a little earning, much better than losing ~30%.

Had a trip to Kauai planned for May. I received an email from the hotel pleading for me to cancel or, among other things, I would be bullied by the locals.

A few highlights of Kauai's 60 day emergency measures:
Visitors will be subject to 14 day quarantines.
A curfew is in place from 9:00pm to 5:00am. Violators are subject to fines of $5000.
Wilcox Hospital is already overburdened and has shortages of resources.
All parks, beaches, and attractions are closed.
Restaurants are limited to carry out and delivery services. All bars are closed.
All non-essential businesses and services are closed.
All schools and State and County offices and services are on furlough or are closed.
Resources on the island are scarce. Over the Counter Drugs are sold out. There is no toilet paper, bleach, hand sanitizer, etc. in stores. Grocery stores are sold out of staples like bread, milk, eggs, etc. and many other shelves are bare. Rationing of goods in the future is a very real possibility.

Pretty harsh restrictions.

I got lucky and reballanced 529's in November to safer investments (kids in college). Everything else getting hammered but I can ride it out.

I don't see how they can stop massive cheating, even on an essay, unless they gave it through an online site that opened at a given hour and closed 45 minutes later, simultaneously across the four time zones.

Now there are always a number of essay questions prepared so they could do it at different times but use a different question for each time zone.
