I would love to know our current weekly production capacity for respirators and ventilators.

500k disposable respirators won't last long.

https://news.3m.com/blog/3m-stories/ceo-update-3ms-response-covid-19

Quote:

Since the initial COVID-19 outbreak, we've ramped up to maximum production levels of N95 respirators and doubled our global output to a rate of more than 1.1 billion per year, or nearly 100 million per month. In the United States we are producing 35 million respirators per month; of these, more than 90% are now designated for healthcare workers, with the remaining deployed to other industries also critical in this pandemic, including energy, food and pharmaceutical companies. As a global company, we also manufacture respirators in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and our products are being similarly deployed to support the COVID-19 response in those respective regions.

Like everyone, I see the pleas from our heroic doctors, nurses and first responders for the respirators and other equipment they desperately need. I want people to know we are doing all we can to meet the demands of this extraordinary time and get supplies from our plants to where they're most needed as quickly as possible. As I write this, more than 500,000 respirators are on the way from our South Dakota plant to two of the more critically impacted areas, New York and Seattle, with arrivals expected starting tomorrow. We are also ready to expedite additional shipments across the country.

While 3M is currently operating at maximum production, we have accelerated investments to expand our global capacity even more. We anticipate being able to nearly double our capacity again, to almost 2 billion respirators globally, within the next 12 months. We are working with the U.S. and other governments, investigating alternate manufacturing scenarios, and exploring coalitions with other companies to increase capacity further. We've also maximized production of a wide range of other solutions being used in the response, including hand sanitizers and disinfectants.

Health officials have said that older adults were twice as likely to have serious illness from the novel coronavirus and the fatal cases in the US appear to reflect that.

The majority of people who have died were in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The youngest were in their early or mid-50s.

That article is a few days old obviously but I could find anything in writing saying under 50 have died other than Twitter links

Read the article.

Per the article, they've doubled it to 1.1 billion, so before they were doing 550 million.

They think they can get up to 2 billion within 12 months.

Alrighty, a bit late to the party again, but we'll catch up.Live from swimmy's couch.

Came up to him counting numbers of gowns and whatnot on their way being produced. Too late to catch the numbers.

Seattle, sounds like the are adding more hospital beds which were desperately needed.

California, national guard is being activating.. at no charge to Cali gov.
8 large medical stations being sent to Cali, along with supplies.

Federal is a bit of a backup for the states.. sending help to the states that really need it.

Fantastic outpouring from private sector. Honeywell is increasing manufacturing in RI, going to provide 500 jobs for that state and fulfill desperately needed n95 masks. Another company is also doubling and tripling production.. missed the name.

IBM is working on giving CPU and super computers to help fight the vaccines (remind me to plug how you can donate your computer too) Listing other companies that are helping with research and efforts. Awesome.

18mill vets and how we are supporting them and how we can be loyal to them? working on certain hospitals, esp in louisiana...fixing our VA hospitals? Not sure exactly. Veteran affairs is establishing 19 emergency centers. Shout out to the awesome VA doctors. They used to be hard to reach because of bureaucracy but they have no fixed that? VA hospitals are happy now. Veterans Choice is awesome (I know nothing of this, would love to read more about it on another thread...as far as if people have really had improved experience in VA treatment since this was enacted) VA has delayed most elective medical procedures until after we've won the fight against Covid. VA has been also expanding Telehealth.

Medications will be delivered on Tuesday for testing to see if they work. Lots of great things happening.
He'll have people up to speak shortly.

We are having a great trial now. We are going to defeat this horrible enemy. We are at war. We are fighting an invisible enemy. For those of you who feel alone right now, we are all together on this. We are eternally linked by our national spirit. We are united. For those worried and afriad, as long as I am your president, you will have someone who is willing to fight and win..and we will win. And much sooner than expected. 144 countries are being attacked by this disease and it is vicious. However, we will be totally victories and then we will get our economy back to where it was and beyond. I am proud to be your president. You are very special people.

Washington, New York, and California being hit hardest, they are being approved at state of emergency. Emergency supplies are being sent to all three states. Additional supplies will be delivered in the next 42 hours.

All 50 states are working with FEMA under national declaration of emergency. States do not need to do any additional declarations to work with FEMA on this stuff.

National Guard is posted and ready to equip and serve the public and attack, I meant protect the health and safety of the public.

Title 32 acitvation does not federalize the national guard. This is NOT martial law. This is NOT martial law.

We will do everything we can to fulfill the states governor's requests.

FEMA administrator talking now, happy about a thingy that Trump signed and is making his job easier. He is really working on trying to procure more supplies. Greatest mobilization of manufacturing since WWII to try to produce the supplies that we need and trying to repurpose the factories to build the masks, coats, hand sanitizirs, etc.

I didn't catch which brewery repurposed from alcohol to sanitizers but that's neato.

Honeywell masks will be ready in next 30 days.

When you have a strong leader, you can take a light hand initially.. so not needing to be heavy handed in government pressure.

Gets a lot of disquieting calls from brokers trying to price gougers. If you are gouging, you will get in trouble. If you have supplies, please bring them to market asap.

Pence up now. I missed a bunch because the store I work at is closing down, so they were asking if I needed any of my things before they leave or reports or anything.

Pence was saying thank you. We should be encouraged. They are meeting every day.
Healthcare workers are being courageous. I can personally vouch for that. My brother is a paramedic and is working double time. They are all nervous.. but getting prepared.

Pence is saying we are just doing everything to make sure we meet this moment.

Priorities of the task force
!) testing 2) mitigation 3) supplies

All commercial labs are receiving HHS testing requirements tomorrow and that needs to be prioritized. A new 45 minute test should be ready by end of march.
State health officials can contact FEMA for latest on testing.
Tomorrow, new guidance for law enforcement and first responders.

Americans abroad... one reason we are in a different position than other countries is because we suspended travel. However, the state department is working around the clock to try to get people home and help them get back to American soil. Working even with military. There is a website and phone number 1-888-407-4747 STEP.STATE.GOV if you are stuck overseas. I think I saw one of you is in Spain, so getcha ass home.

hey guys, keep being compassionate. keep being mindful. Keep working together. Let's do it together!

If someone can parse that last 30 seconds of Pence's speech, that would be great. really good little clip.
