True, viruses are forever. However, levels of infection and DNC media fueled hysteria will likely level off. Something else will kick it off the front page when they realize they can't get Trump this way.

Book it.
SARS disappeared after its run in 2003 and has never been seen again.

Some viruses show up one time and never again.
In the public maybe. From what I read the CDC has kept samples of everything going back to the Spanish Flu. Yes there's still samples of that in a lab somewhere.
Without a doubt it is still in a lab, but so is smallpox which we drove to extinction. They found the 1918 Flu in bodies buried in permafrost and from preserved tissue samples. This is how they were able to trace its connection to chickens and pigs, and testing it on monkeys they were able to see how it killed.

There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Semantics of this entire thing may actually have resulted in this panic and hysteria.

Back in 2009 we had a pandemic but it was simply called Swine Flu. I remember at the time being unconcerned. Some variant on a flu- yawn on with life.

I really do believe that the term itself corona is very sinister sounding. I realize it's a medical term for the structure of the freaking thing but nevertheless. COVID is also scary. If this thing was seriously titled Kung Flu or Wuhan Flu I really believe not even half this fallout would be happening.

They've been discussing it for a while now because they just don't know what will happen by July.

Semantics do matter. Swine flu was an absolute b****

But it didn't create panic bc the it used a term everyone was familiar with. The very basics sometimes matter

Spot on. I think you're on to something. Combined with the Left's irrational hatred for Trump and you have a panic-demic.
Trump will fix it.

Spoiler alert, it will slow down considerably in the warm and humid summer, and probably come back in another form next winter, and we as a society will have to accept it is a part of our lives like the flu.
Or maybe it comes back really weak next year, either way it would be better to accept the reality of viruses.

The coronavirus panic is not only dumb, it's another example of the failure of common sense in our society being overtaken by group think.

CDC announced today that they don't know if warm weather will slow down its progression. They also referenced the 1918 pandemic and said it's worst stretch was in the summer and early fall. Until today i didn't realize the 1918 outbreak went until 1920.

Spoiler alert, Singapore studied temperature ranges and their impact on the virus and said rising temps will have no impact.

I frankly don't remember when swine flu hit the US. I was living overseas. But the numbers I see on swine flu were over 20k infections and over 1000 dead before anyone reacted 6 months later. If that is the case, why all the hysteria on the medical system being overwhelmed so quickly here with Wuhan virus? If it reached this level without anyone really noticing; it would seem the system has plenty of capacity to handle a substantial outbreak on the order of what hit China (comparatively; we are ~1/4 - 1.5 the size of CH). Is our system less capable now than it was 10 years ago? Obama-care impact?

Their concern is the massive amounts of people who might potentially need hospitalization first (overwhelming the system) and second the number of fatalities among vulnerable populations. Think elderly and homeless folks. The triage would be a nightmare for medical staff, or so I have been told by people tasked with doing it.
So how is that different than in 2009 when they were stacking dead bodies with 20k cases before they reacted? So people just dropped dead randomly with no symptoms and weren't hospitalized?
My recollection (as an Er doc) was that after beginning in April the summer slowed it down a tad then picked back up in fall. Highly contagious and not that lethal except for certain subgroups.

It should have impact if for nothing else people are not as clustered.
