Read the transcript again. The Assistant US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (Uzo Asonye) was in the courtroom on Friday, at Judge Ellis' suggestion to the Mueller Team.

Here's the rule. If anyone is physically present in a judge's courtroom, they can be asked questions by the judge on the spur of the moment. In fact, Ellis did ask a largely rhetorical question to Asonye. (About whether ten million would have thrown at Manafort's prosecution by his office.)

I read his question to Asonye as the "and the horse you rode in on" rider to the "**** you and I hope you die" he gave to team Mueller.

I laughed out loud when he directed the question about the E.D. Va. U.S. Attorney office budget question at Asonye at the end of the hearing.

The very senior lawyer that I do a lot of work (the guy that likes the term "trick****") with was a 5th Circuit clerk way back in the day and he would have realized about 3 seconds into that hearing that he's in a minefield and he needs to do whatever the hell he can to make friends and allies as fast as possible or else this just gets worse. That tells you what a load of arrogant *****s team Mueller really is.

A truly seasoned federal trial lawyer would have known not to act like Mueller's crew. They ded.

2) Mueller interviewed both Admiral Rogers (NSA) & Dan Coats (DNI) in late June/early July 2017, and surely they informed him about FISA abuse. These interviews occurred just before the Rosenstein renewed the FISA warrant on Carter Page in July 2017 + it is in late July that Strzok & Page's texts are revealed & Mueller removes them from the Team. As TCTH says, it is very curious why Rosenstein didn't close this entire investigation down shortly thereafter.
