Lynch and VeselnitskayaQuote:
Homeland's statement confirmed court testimony and records cited by The Hill on Wednesday that Veselnitskaya was initially turned down for a visa to enter the United States and required the special immigration parole permission as late as January 2016. The court records did not indicate how she entered the country after that time.
A federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan told the court in a hearing in January 2016 that the "extraordinary circumstances" parole request needed to be approved by Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
"In October the government bypassed the normal visa process and gave a type of extraordinary permission to enter the country called immigration parole," Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Monteleoni was quoted in the court transcript as saying. "That's a discretionary act that the statute allows the attorney general to do in extraordinary circumstances. In this case, we did that so that Mr. Katsyv could testify. And we made the further accommodation of allowing his Russian lawyer into the country to assist."
That's been known for a while now, but there are just too many different moving parts with regards to this coup attempt. It's hard to keep up with.Hogties said:
Wait what?! I've followed this story pretty closely but have somehow missed that Veselnitskaya met with Fusion GPS the day before and after the Trump Tower meeting. Where is that timeline backed up because that's pretty damning.
Meeting with Simpson before and after her meeting with Don Jr. screams entrapment but at the very least it's pretty rich that Lynch and Bharara allowed an evil Russian into the country, kinda difficult for them to spin that but I'm sure they did.Hogties said:

False. They didn't even have to spin it. Lynch issued a statement Thursday that distanced herself from any government decision to let the Russian lawyer enter the country, saying the former attorney general "does not have any personal knowledge of Ms. Veselnitskaya's travel."
The statement was issued after President Trump suggested Lynch might have been responsible for the Russian lawyer's encounter with his eldest son Donald Jr. that is now under investigation.

I'm not confident much of the public can follow the legal minutia of this all. It has to be explained in simplified terms and then what was unlawful or unethical or improper needs to be outlined, and the harm to the public trust and rule of law made plain.
Any American citizen can be branded "an agent of a foreign power" and spied upon, including cameras in their bedrooms, for instance. And all of their friends and their friends' friends can be unmasked and spied upon. They then can be criminally prosecuted as a direct result.
Start there.
Problem was she didn't testify, nor was she on the schedule to testify, but they somehow got her a VIP seat at the hearing right behind the main speaker, the US Ambassador to Russia, and she would be on 80% of the TV camera shots. Then after that appearance she went back to Russia reportedly.Prosperdick said:Actually it looks like she did:GCP12 said:False. They didn't even have to spin it. I can't explain why, but Yates participation in all of this has had her in my top list of necks I want to see at the end of a rope.jt2hunt said:GCP12 said:
It was reported in several media outlets, and Simpson confirmed it with his own testimony under oath. Veselnitskaya met with Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS, before and after she met with Donald Trump Jr. at Trump Tower. A drunk George Papadopoulos spoke to Alexander Downer at London bar in May, 28th 2016, how strange only 11 days later this Russian Lawyer shows up at Trump Tower. Looks like a very consorted effort. Don't forget Alexander Downer's role in securing $25 million in aid from his country to help the Clinton Foundation. All just coincidental of course.Hogties said:

At least three of the individuals who attended a meeting with Donald Trump, Jr. at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016 Soviet counterintelligence officer Rinat Akhmetshin, Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, and Russian-born interpreter Anatoloy Samochornov also have ties to Fusion GPS dating to at least 2015.

At a minimum, lose her law license permanently. IMO, Carter Page should file a disciplinary complaint against Rosenstein and everyone else at the FBI and DOJ (with a law license) with the DC and appropriate state bars.Quote:

There are a lot that likely deserve it, but she's irked me more than most of the bad actors, probably disproportionately relative to some of their treasons.
Way past time to apply for a Title I FISA warrant on each of the owners of Fusion, GPS. And two hop the hell out of it. Fusion isn't registered as a lobbying firm. Their close ties to Veselnitskaya and others should be more than enough to credibly allege they are "agents of a foreign power."Quote:
I'm convinced the banking records may reveal if money changed hands between Fusion GPS and Veselnitskaya, which would further thicken a plot that would make Tom Clancy look tame. This thing is bizarre beyond all belief.
No way Rosey is going to sign off on that, and Sessions is in San Diego making speeches.aggiehawg said:Way past time to apply for a Title I FISA warrant on each of the owners of Fusion, GPS. When I first saw Trump's tweet above, I said to myself that he meant "text messages" and not "Emails". Now I think he said "Emails" on purpose...and in reference to Grassley's letter...just to bring up "Emails" in daily discourse on the MSM. Trump's tweets often contain subtle messages.

Jesse Panuccio is the Acting Associate Attorney General of the United States, overseeing the following Department of Justice components: Antitrust Division, Civil Division, Civil Rights Division, Environment and Natural Resources Division, Tax Division, Executive Office for U.S. Trustees, Office of Justice Programs, Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), Office on Violence Against Women, Community Relations Service, Office of Information Policy, Foreign Claims Settlement Commission, and the Service members and Veterans Initiative. Mr. Panuccio also serves as the Department's Regulatory Reform Officer and chairs the Regulatory Reform Task Force.
Quote:
The Office of the Associate Attorney General (OASG) was created by Attorney General Order No. 699-77 on March 10, 1977.
As the third-ranking official at the Department of Justice, the ASG is a principal member of the Attorney General's senior management team.
The major functions of the ASG are to:
- Advise and assist the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General on the formulation and implementation of Department of Justice policies and programs.
- Supervise the work of the Civil, Civil Rights, Antitrust, Tax, and Environment and Natural Resources Divisions. The ASG also has oversight responsibility for the Office of Justice Programs, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, the Access to Justice Initiative, the Office of Dispute Resolution, the Office of Information Policy, the Community Relations Service, the Executive Office for United States Trustees, Office on Violence Against Women and the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission. The ASG also shares with the DAG oversight responsibility for the Office of Tribal Justice.
Doesn't the AAG have to be confirmed? He was brought into the DOJ from elsewhere.aggiehawg said:
I stand corrected. He's still the "Acting" Associate Attorney General, though. Is there another nominee from Trump that hasn't been confirmed?

No just trying to assess the White House level of comfort with him.
Here's my reasoning. Anything within a mile of Russia investigation, Sessions is gone. Anything that touches directly on Rosenstein, he is forced to recuse himself. Solid case that Rosenstein's signing off on the extension of the Carter Page Title I warrant, he should be out of the discussion.
If Rosenstein doesn't agree, he can write an Op-Ed in the Times and show his ass as trying to protect his own ass.
