1.05 - "Git Er Done" - October 30 & 31, 2006
As the town and team anticipate a big Friday-night game against mighty rivals the Arnett Mead Tigers, Taylor weighs heavily whether to start novice backup Matt Saracen or cocky recruit Voodoo Tatom (Aldis Hodge) as quarterback. 1.06 - "El Accidente" - November 7, 2006
Pressure mounts over the Texas High School Athletic Administration's investigation into whether Dillon illegally recruited flashy QB Voodoo Tatom. Meanwhile, Reyes brutally assaults one of Saracen's brainy buddies; and Riggins and Lyla spring the injured Street out of the hospital for a surprise “field trip.” Source: TVGuide

Per what I have read online, the reason for the move is that NBC execs think highly of the show, and think the reason the ratings have been low is due to its timeslot on Tuesday at 8pm Eastern/Pacific. Also, the current show in the Monday 10pm E/P timeslot, Studio 60 (which I really like as well), has been a ratings dud and is likely to be cancelled. If Friday Night Lights does not show decent ratings improvement in the slot following ratings hit Heroes (also expect multiple promos on Sunday Night Football), then it will likely be on its way out as well.

I can understand if one of these shows fail, but I will be pissed if both shows are canned. Right now, I DVR four shows: Amazing Race, Studio 60, Friday Night Lights, and Jericho. It would suck if I was down to two shows in a couple of weeks. I just find it hard to stomach that the only shows America really likes to watch are American Idol, Survivor, Grey's Anatomy, and all 30 versions/copies of CSI.

They have too much money are sunk into Studio 60 to give up on it already. And they wouldn't order more episodes of this if they were planning on dropping it in short order.

I'd be willing to bet both shows atleast make it one full season.

I have to admit, I was skeptical about this show after the pilot.

My DVR is now set to it and I'm now looking forward to the new episode every week. I didn't think I would like the actual games to be secondary to the other stories, but they have worked it out very well (the relationship drama I'm not really into). I honestly think the best character so far on the show is the annoying booster. He has made himself so annoying, you start to feel the coach's pain. I feel like punching the television screen sometimes it's so painful...great character development.

Makes no sense to put a series designed for the football fan head to head with MNF. This is going to be a ratings bomb, the views of the show are going to be tunning into MNF on monday night because most of them are football fans.

Go away, Debbie Downer.

Nobody's watching it on Tuesday night, so they are trying to give it a chance. The fact that more people watch gay Dancing with the Stars instead of this show doesn't make sense either...so apparently good sense is not a factor here.

Still don't think this show is very good, a little cheesy. Saracen kid is either a horrible actor or they want him to be like that. Really annoying.

The music is probably the best thing about it - besides Layla - and it's shot really well.

If you don't like it, don't watch it. Seriously.

Wow, me and you feel completely opposite about this. I think he's great in this role. Of course he's supposed to be the nervous kid who's under way too much pressure. His character is only a sophomore.

I'm like you, Squirrel Master. This is a show about real life, not about these idealistic, perfect characters, and I think Saracen epitomizes that, as the nervous high school kid under lots of pressure. He's got to work to support himself, his dad is in Iraq, he's got to take care of his grandmother who is in poor health, and on top of that, he's got to deal with the rigors of being the starting quarterback for an elite 5A Texas high school football team.

Not to mention, crushing on the coach's daughter, and now some superstar QB has come in to steal his job...

Oh, and the whole town hates him because he lost a game. I bet we get to see a lot of growth and maturity this season...after his inevitable breakdown, of course.

Thanks for the advice but I read a book a week.

FNL will be airing in a new spot this week - Monday (tonight) at 9 PM. The same episode will re-air in it's usual spot on Tuesday 7 PM.

Good job putting them up against football.

Big night tonight. Dillon needs a win over Arnett Mead. Who does Coach Taylor start? Will it be Saracen or Voodoo? Does Saracen get Coach Taylor's daughter in the back seat of a car like Coach advised him?

Coach Taylor needs to fire this ***** of an offensive coordinator.

1. Coach's daughter was being derogatory with her comments about Texas, but she's right. It's still a Republic.

2. Tyra is freaking hot.
