Maybe not the first time, but a memorable time was watching Romeo and Juliet as a freshman in high school. We had just finished reading the play and our cute English teacher played the movie on a vcr over 3 the next 2-3 class days. The day before she said day 1 would have "a little bit of nudity" and if you were uncomfortable, just don't show up to class the first day.
Of course, not one kid missed class the next day.
There is no way that would fly today.
They showed the movie in my English class and parents complained.
I recall Clash of the Titans in my 7th grade class causing quite a reaction. And not nudity, but Glory. Think that would fly even less today in schools - not the violence but the N word being flung around all over the place.
Well, today's little darlings suffer panic attacks and PTSD if they have to read "Huck Finn" with the N-word in it, so they print special censored versions. Meanwhile, I'd like to see the Spotify playlist for these same kids.
Or however kids listen to music these days. I was at a musical performance a couple of weeks ago and bought a couple of CDs in the lobby to listen to on the drive home. Do cars still come with CD players?
