Fallout 2 is the best Fallout. 2 > New Vegas > 3 > 1 = 4

If you have the time, you should definitely play fallout new Vegas if you have liked season two. Even just watching somebody do a run through would be worth it just to see the world transcribed onto the screen

Any idea if I can download a game? My free time is absolutely screwed offshore if so.

You don't download anything; it's like streaming the game to your device. Basically just load and play

Ahh that sucks. We have limited data offshore and that's about the only place I would ever play it because I am way too busy at home.

Dang

All you gamers are making me think I need to try the game out.

If you're interested in fallout games because of the show, I'd recommend:

1.) Fallout New Vegas. It's the best storytelling of all fallout games and is full of sites you will recognize from the current tv season. You'll get a huge kick out of this game if the TV show is why you want to play. The game is from 2010 and will play comfortably to a modern audience.

2.) Fallout 1 and 2. These came out in the 90s and it shows. Isometric, turn based combat may be a high barrier to entry, but they are set in California (setting of season 1) and establish the world we've been exploring in the show. The writing is strong and the show builds off factions and concepts first established here. Unlike all the others, these games will not hold your hand and you will probably die. A lot.

3.) FO 3 and 4. Set on the east coast, so less overlap with the show than the west coast games. Both are fun, but the storytelling is less dynamic than in the other games.

I haven't played Fallout 76, so no comment there.
Thanks and gig'em

Try it out and if you are into it then you need to get a steam deck. If you have a lot of downtime offshore, FO3, NV, and FO4 will give you several hundred hours of playtime.

Are we going to see the Railroad, we've seen enclave and institute, I'm pretty sure shady sands was the minutemen right? Just missing railroad?

Shady Sands was the NCR, Minutemen and Railroad are both in the Commonwealth (Boston). I could see Season 3 heading east, but i think this one will stay west coast.

If you have Steam, you may be able to play them offline. You'll obviously need an internet connection to buy and download the games, then once you have that all done you can set Steam up to run games offline

How would you play those offshore with a steam deck?

Y'all don't need to keep explaining it to me, this clearly requires more effort than I am willing to put in to play video games lol. Sorry for the derail.

I think you just need to get a steam deck, download the game on land, set it to play offline, and you're good

But then I need a tv and wires and controller and all that yea? Or just a computer? Because the former is a non starter and latter potentially doable depending on size and computer requirements.

Steam Deck is a handheld. Buy it on steam, download the game, then you can play offline for however long you want.

No, a Steam Deck is a portable handheld. It has screen, controller, storage, and everything all built in to a handheld system. So, just download all the games you want while you're on land and then go play them offline while at sea.

They are somewhat expensive ($600ish, I believe), but there are similar systems from other manufacturers.

Wait... when did we see the Institute?

I'm fairly certain we haven't.

Spoiler from the game.
They were destroyed in FO4

Since the Prydwen (the big BoS airship) is intact in the show, I don't think the Institute can be around anymore. The Railroad can, but not the Institute. It's been a while, but I think the Prydwen is destroyed in all endings that the Institute survives.

Also worth noting - and I don't think this is a spoiler at all, so no spoiler tags - but the last episode dropped Elder Maxson's name.

Myself and some others speculated Kumail might be Elder Maxson, (which didn't make a lot of sense so not surprised he wasn't him) - but if I had to guess Elder Maxson actor reveal will be the season 2 cliffhanger. I think he would be around 30 in this.

I've only played Fallout 4, but I believe the only character so far from any of the games is Robert House right?

Fair to say the Prydwen is definitely around since they mentioned Elder Maxson and the Commonwealth Brotherhood are the big swingin dicks... but I don't think we've seen the actual Prydwen. Just other airships.

There were zoomed in shots that showed it with the name 'Prydwen' on the side just like the games. Although, I don't think anyone has actually called it that.

Characters we've seen from the games so far…

- House
- Victor
- Caesar (as a corpse)
- Dogmeat (there's always a dogmeat)

I think that's it.

Finished episode 6

Hank sure has been busy.

Pretty sure season 3 will be about The Enclave. Everything seems to be setting up them being in control of Vault-Tec and using them as a front while appearing as a hapless impotent government, and the super mutants are talking about going to war with them. I'm a little curious how the mutant talking to Coop knows so much about the Enclave, though I assume it's passed down by them or he's just really old.

Can't wait to see Maximus and Coop team up. Thaddeus has had some really great moments. I'm on the fence about whether he gives the diode to Lucy or puts it into whatever House was building. I think we see a showdown between him and Lucy over Hank before the end of the season.

I still want to know who Hank was talking to earlier in the season. I still think it's Welch and she's the ultimate bad guy. I think he maybe got in trouble with The Enclave for losing the cold fusion diode, and that's why he said they'd be begging to work with him. I wonder if he contacted them for help destroying Shady Sands or was somehow assigned that by The Enclave and it comes up in the final episode to set up next season.

I wonder if Coop/Moldaver was going to announce cold fusion and free energy, so The Enclave moved up their timelines and dropped the bombs early. That would account for House's timing being off in the games and the timeline he talked to Coop about moving up. Which reminds me, we saw Coop doing the pony show with Janey when the bombs went off. How did they get separated? How did Coop go from movie star to that so quick?
