Absolutely agreed. It's so awesome because us gamers are getting new stuff that's canon, so we're not just rehashing a game we have already played and the content matters.

The sets are absolutely perfect. The characters are damn near perfect. The themes are spot on. The conflict and decisions are Fallout to a T. And even the fan service is easily recognizable without being forced. They just fit.

I'm not sure how you harness the vibe and essence of the games any better.

Just watched the finale. The Caesar's palace joke was such low hanging fruit, but dang was it perfect and I cracked up.

Agree that this show is definitely the best video game adaption out there. This season was epic!

Bethesda should have also been working on something as well. They could have crushed it with a new Fallout release during all of this.

The show has done an amazing job integrating everything that makes fallout fallout unique in a television medium.

Quick question that I didn't see talked about already: How does the scene from S1 with Goggins and their daughter at the bday party when the bombs fall jive with him being arrested and separated from his family here at the end of S2?

A couple of the dads talk about him being a commie and doing the work for alimony at the birthday party, so his reputation has taken a hit from being arrested and publicly looks like he's separating from his wife. I think it jives pretty well, but there's story to be told in between the arrest and the party.

After playing through TLOU 1 and 2 twice after the show aired (I had never owned a PS before), I vehemently agree with this. What a terrible casting.

Welp, I put off watching the last 4 episodes for so long as someone I knew wanted to watch it too so we watched it all over from S1E1 but only a few episodes a weekend. Honestly, didn't mind though. Loved seeing it again. Just finished that finale.

Wow. What an incredible show. I am an absolute Fallout fanboy and have been for a considerable chunk of my life and this show is doing it justice. The shows that can do that for pre-existing media is vanishingly small these days. The fan service is top notch without going overboard and into tacky territory. I was screaming out the easter eggs as they were revealed. What a blast to watch.

Read through the last few pages of what I had missed.

Called it with Steph being a Canuck being a massive show pivot. Never trust a Canadian. I was also actually really, really impressed on how they wrapped up Lucy and her father's arc. No final bloodshed or "he won, she won" contest and everyone moves on. Just a very poignant and ultimately sad familial relationship coming to an end. Very memorable end to a main quest.

Can't wait for S3!

What's the end game for this show? If the Enclave is the big baddy for the entire IP, can they afford to defeat them in the tv show?

It is pretty interesting how much they are covering. I am of the mind they almost have to though to keep things flowing though. One of the things I hate about Bethesda is how little backstory we actually get in their lore compared to what we COULD be getting. Sounds crazy I know but aside from a few games (admittedly fairly big games overall) over a couple of decades, their IPs are set by what you play. What you see there is what you get.

I've been *****ing for years they need to do an "expanded universe" especially with official novelizations to really explore and open up their worlds. Something like Warhammer or even Star Wars.

Either way, they have a bunch of fairly big ideas but not a lot of in the weeds details that would fit the show characters as is. Take the Enclave for example. There is a bunch of high level lore on it and then the lore you interface with as a playable character. I mean, I doubt we are going to have Coop Howard fighting Frank Horrigan or trying to stop Project Purity and so on and so forth. (Could be wrong on that with the finale ending though). What I mean ultimately, is that there is only so much lore to go around and only so much that can be whittled down to meet the character arcs and time lines we have now. How many civil wars have the Enclave gone through now? How much percentage of the total lore do those wars take up that they have available? Would any of those fit in the show? Not sure they would.

All in my opinion of course. Just my couple of cents.

I also think they are handling it fine so far and from what they have done so far, they have earned my respect. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they'll figure it out and pace it right instead of assuming the worst.

Fallout 4 recently jumped back up into the bestselling category. Not bad for an old ass game.

Pretty sure Todd and crew had no idea what a positive reception they would get from this show.

I never did beat FO2 and never even touched 76. Need to rectify those points soon.

Just finished this. While I enjoyed it overall, I felt the segue between seasons was a bit forced. Hank was originally the vault tec employee turned overseer who did bad things to protect his vault/kids. Then he gets kidnapped, escapes, and is activated as an enclave agent who takes over part of the master plan? Idk, just seemed a bit choppy to me

The show has some gaping holes if you look for them (like S1E1, how did Hank not realize the folks from the abandoned vault were raiders?)

But if you can forgive that, it's an otherwise great ride.

He didn't do anything to protect his vault or kids. He did that for Vault-Tec/The Enclave
