I dabbled in the games but never really got far into them.

What is the lore with the kid ghouls not going full out ghoul like the dudes in Vegas? I know Goggins ghoul uses the inhaler med to keep his brain. Are kids just more resistant or is the Nuka cola?

The show makes me want to play the game and I don't even own a console.

I play Mario Kart with my kids occasionally, but that's about it.

The lore on going feral is mostly established in season 1, where you see ghouls gradually go feral over time if they don't get that inhaler medicine.

In the games, some ghouls were feral, some were not, simple as that.

Betty never left the vault, Hank did, I'm guessing he told Steph something about what he found out there, brought something back, and told her it was in the lockbox.

The only question is why didn't Steph retrieve it when she still lived in 33? Why didn't she take it with her during moving day?

(Cue Pitch Meetings guy) "So the plot can happen."

The inhalant the Ghoul is taking in Fallout is likely something called "Ultrajet". Jet is an inhalant in the Fallout games similar to meth. It was created from cow crap, then perfected/refined by a scientist named Myron to help a crime organization incapacitate and enslave families and towns.

Ultrajet was created because normal Jet did not affect Ghouls.

The box is something he brought into 31 from before the war, not something he found on the outside when he left, so I assume it's still in 31, not 33. She probably didn't go get it before moving day because she couldn't get into 31 from 33 herself, didn't have a need until Betty told her 31 was abandoned, or couldn't go back to 31 because of Bud. Just don't understand why Steph can't go to 31 and get it now unless 32 is not connected to 31 for some reason.

Regardless, Steph seems to know a lot more than Betty about Hank and his plans. McCurtry also seems to know a lot more about Bud's plans and some of the Bud's Buds seemed to know nothing at all, which is weird considering Hank and some of the others from 31 that became overseers seemed to know quite a bit.

Deathclaws are considered the apex predator of the Fallout universe. Pre-Fallout 4, running into one is a death sentence until late game and even then its not a guarantee you'll survive.

Yeah thats why it was such a great reveal. I remember seeing them in the distance and turning immediately around and running. They will fk you up good, and fast.

They were incredibly hard to defeat until you got better weapons, armor, perks, explosives, etc.

I was thinking it is still in 33, in Hanks old room. And since the vaults are not supposed to interact visit each other as we learned when Woody reported Steph to herself about the meeting. So I took it as she was asking Betty because Steph can't just go and get it.

The way she talked about it made it seem like it was in 31. I would also think Hank wouldn't have been able to it into 33 from 31. It would be weird if he showed up with stuff and a lockbox.

It's already been established that all 3 vaults are connected in a kind of triangle. There is a 31 vault door in 32. Remember in season 1, we saw corpses outside that door because they were trying to get it, and they wrote stuff about "Management" on the walls.

Yeah I remember that, but that connection could've been severed somehow when 32 revolted. Like maybe they broke it trying to get in or there was some kind of permanent lockout. Or maybe Norm locked them out and Betty (or someone in 33) is better with computers than Stephanie and was about to get in.

Kind of also begs the question why 33 never noticed 32 had gone silent for so long. I get that the overseer might not have been able to send a message out, but I feel like Bud would've been watching them or expecting reports or something and he could've alerted them

I thought it was odd the one girl said she was driving over the bridge "a week ago" which I took to mean she was cryo frozen a week before all this took place originally, but then she says she was driving to an interview with vault tec. How would she have made it to the inner circle to be chosen for cryo that fast? Or is she just supposed to be breeding stock?
ABATTBQ11
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Yeah that struck me as weird too. I don't think she'd be there for just breeding. Everyone in 32 and 33 thought 31 was a vault just like theirs. Things could go sideways quick if she wasn't in on the whole setup and didn't know to keep the secret or didn't buy in.

They Cryo-froze middle-managers. I dont think that you had to be in the inner circle at Vault Tec to get selected for this vault, just a normal corporate resume would do.

But one week after your interview?
ABATTBQ11
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah, that's like showing up day 1 and being told, "Alright, welcome to orientation! You won't need to bother with that W-4. We're nuking the world today. Your first assignment is to hop in this cryopod so we can selectively breed you and turn your kids and/or grandkids into upper management material when we thaw you out in 200 years. Oh, BTDubs, only a select number of people will know that's what's going on, so keep it a secret, ok?"

This is the kind of world where the fine print of your employment contract might absolutely say you consent to have yourself frozen at the company's discretion and Vault Tech hires the type of gullible suckers who go for it.

That said, the vault side of the story does seem to have quite a few plot holes, but I'm letting them go to enjoy the ride in an otherwise excellent show.

Finally broke down and watched it. Was trying to wait until all episodes were out to binge but alas, I am a weak man.

Loving it so far. BoS civil war is awesome and extremely lore friendly. Along with their hubris. As mentioned elsewhere, really really enjoying the moral choices being presented everywhere. Far more than S1 IMO. Really showcases the magic of Fallout the game.

Show right now is a A bordering on A+ for me.

I love how all the lead up of Xander being an absolute badass fighter turns into him just being a bumbling idiot in an overpowered suit.

Did anyone else catch how awful he was fighting? That had to be intentional, yeah?

The Deathclaw in the cold open?! WTF?! Did we know Deathclaws were created before the bombs?

Yes. Deathclaws were created by the US as bioweapons to fight against the Chinese. I think this is why the one in the show spares Cooper. It may have been a test/initial deployment. The ones pre-atom war were specialized weapons and probably had basic recognition of what to attack and what not to attack. The ones post war are feral offshoots and are extremely territorial and attack everything near their nests.

This is what a show looks like when it's made by people who care about the IP. I know Jonathan Nolan talked about being a fan of the games WAY back during the initial conversations on this show, a couple years back. These last two seasons have shown that is definitely 100% the case.

The only question now is whether they will stick the landing like they did in Season 1.

Again, I'm amazed at how little conversation there is on this board about this show. I get people just like to ***** and moan, on TexAgs, but this is crazy. Fallout is infinitely better than ANYTHING on Disney+. I get it may not be everyone's thing, but I figured it would be more popular on this forum.

It's not pure unadulterated slop so doesn't appeal to the masses like most Disney garbage.

Just saw they dropped trailer for Wednesday's ep on the socials (Facebook and Insta).

Two things that stood out to me:
Looks like there are 2 Death Claws, and the 31 group finds the Vault Tech HQ

Probably more than two. Those were eggs Lucy was playing with. They're in a nest.

I've not watched the preview for next episode because I like to go in fresh.

However, I don't think I've ever seen a Deathclaw egg in the fallout games I've played. However, there are other creatures that do lay lots of eggs.

I thought we may actually see those, as well.

They're pretty ubiquitous on fallout new Vegas. The lasy by the quarry has a death claw omelette recipe too. I can't decide if I'm cool or lame knowing that without looking it up

In fallout 2 there's a diner that sells mysteriously big omelette and if you unlock the outhouse out back you get attacked by a deathclaw that had been trapped in there laying eggs

Ive been watching the extras that are a 2 or 3 minute video reflecting on each episode and I am really impressed with the show runner Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

It's obvious that she "gets" the show, the universe, and the characters.

There's at least one in Fallout 4. People stole an egg and get torn up; you can take the egg back to the nest, I think.
