He was in game of thrones as Xaro Xhoan Daxos. And has been in some other small roles like Sweettooth and a pretty decent show called Zoo.

He is maybe the largest human I have ever seen.
6'6" 280.

Not as large as me, but he seems like he's built to play DE.

Then the other actors must be pretty small because he was so much larger. I like his character.

I love the show despite its flaws, but it's not the most wholesome show on tv.

Ted Lasso by himself is wholesome, but there's a lot more to the show than him. I would definitely not let my kid watch it.

To me it's a classic example of a show that hit ENORMOUS success in S1, and the writers have felt the pressure of having to build on it while not being redundant. That's probably caused them to focus more on the individuals than the team at various times and seem inconsistent or back-and-forth. It's a victim of its own success from right out of the gate.

I think they got over their skis a little on character development.

So many great characters popped in S1, and they've tried to show all their journeys. That came at the expense of depth in each one. Nate's apparent quick-turn back is an example of that while they're spending way too much time on Keely outside the club.

Knowing how Bill Lawrence does things, there's probably going to be a painful reversal before redemption with Nate before all is said and done though.

Granted Sunderland was a Premier League team for most of the last 20 years. Two horrific seasons back to back is what sent them down to League 1. They are now back in the EFL and are in the fight for the playoffs to get to the PL. Having Louis-Dreyfus money backing you will help.

Watched the latest episode Wednesday night with my wife and 14 month old daughter playing with some of her toys. Nothing was more wholesome than to hear Rebecca wish she got to see some Dutch sausage.

It was a bit cheesy, but the movie Green Street Hooligans depicted how closely situated rivals are to each other, which leads to the hatred and hooliganism between their "firms". In the movie it is West Ham and Millwall, which are across the river from each other and have a feud going back to the dockworkers teams in the 19th century.

I've been wanting to watch Green Street Hooligans since I started following English soccer. Alas it doesn't stream anywhere and I'm not going to buy a DVD much less a DVD player just to watch it.

Not to derail further, but Liverpool and Everton stadiums are just across a park from each other (about 1 mile or so, I think). If all goes well, they won't both be in the Premier League next year (YNWA)!!!

I'm wondering if the episodes will continue to run around an hour. Requires better planning of my Tuesday nights, though I'm not otherwise complaining.

I've been wanting to watch Green Street Hooligans since I started following English soccer. Alas it doesn't stream anywhere and I'm not going to buy a DVD much less a DVD player just to watch it.
Its not a good movie but its worth watching once.

I really liked Sam's father. What a great character.

I really enjoyed the episode overall. The team all coming together to help at the end was great, and finding victory despite losing.

Going back to the episode, was there a specific reference point for all the various 'intro' scenes they did? The sequence of shots they repeated of various shops in the neighborhood opening for the day?

Felt like it was maybe just an homage to the generic romcom, but they usually have something specific in mind

I was wondering the same. Seems like they were setting the mood for something (presumably Nate?), but it didn't really land for me.

Will as coach beard was hilarious.
Kelley and Jack storyline ads absolutely nothing to the show. We dont care.
Sam is too gullible for his own good.
The stories inside the clubhouse are still great. The team coming together.
Crimm being fanatical versus calm when he realizes that total football is going to work was funny.

Finally got around to watching the latest episode

Still don't care about Keely and her PR firm or Keely and Jack. It's distracting from the overall narrative. I found myself fast forwarding through these bits.

The Sam meltdown scene was just painful. Felt way to forced and I have a hard time seeing a Premier League footballer having that level of crying fit in front of his teammates over a vandalized restaurant.

The strings around the dicks was funny but felt a little out of place. A bit to slap-stick.

Still loving on Ted Lasso overall but it seems to be running out of fuel.

The true unrealistic part of that plot is 1. The restaurant not having cameras and 2. no other footage of the crime from anywhere. This is the UK, they have cameras everywhere.
