from what i remember the first one got reemed by critics as well so we shouldn't be surprised

My super fan was nonplussed, after loving the first one.
Felt a lot smaller than the first one, and seemed to go a lot fewer places despite being the "Galaxy"
Yoshi and Starfox were the easy favorites for us. Went to a 7 pm show, lots of chuckles, not a ton of laughs.
I've watched the first one 4-5 times, not sure I'll watch this one over at first blush.

Hugely different experience for me. My theater laughed throughout the movie, and there were huge cheers for the surprise cameos. (Fox, plus 3 ones that thankfully Nintendo didn't spoil beforehand.)

I'm pretty sure the major qualification for critics to be hired by legacy media these days is not liking what the majority of America likes.

Project Hail Mary reviews were universally positive and the movie is killing it. Ditto with Hoppers
Loved it. Wife loved it. 7 year old loved it. It's campy and predictable, and threw nostalgia non stop, but that's what it is. Great movie

I love starfox so I liked that. And yoshi was easily the funniest parts.

With the recent character reveal, I saw an interesting idea. Star Fox gets a movie. At the end, they fight the giant Andross head and hands. The head is destroyed, leaving the hands to be Master Hand and Crazy Hand for a Smash Bros movie.
I 100% believe after seeing it last night that they will have a Smash Bros movie at some point. It makes sense. Nice introduction to more characters.

Thought it was pretty meh to be honest. But I was also pretty tired so who knows maybe I'll like it more on a second viewing once I can watch at home.

+1. First movie was better. Boss fight was pretty good. My ears are ringing a bit today from how loud it was.
Those were $54.99 at AMC. I saw a bunch getting. Some opened and some not. We didn't get one.

They were so excited.
Dressed up. Brought all their Mario crap with them.
We were all halfway asleep at the end.
This reminds me of something like the Emoji movie. Pure crap.

Legitimately curious what you possibly could've been expecting from this movie if you liked and enjoyed the first movie?
It was exactly the same type of movie, and exactly what the trailers promised.
Yeah, this might have been more of an "old man yells at cloud" more than anything.
For one, we watched it late on Easter Sunday which was a bad idea.
Everybody was tired. My son typically locks in pretty well and he was yawning at the end.
Two, the crowd there was just horrible. Babies everywhere crying. People barely watching and on their phones the whole time. A group of 5-10 came in literally halfway through the movie and sat right in front of us. And they were an obnoxious family. I literally zoned out at that point.
Three, I don't remember the first one. I was thinking of Wreck It Ralph when I went in which is one of my favorite cartoon movies.
Not sure I'll want to watch it again though.
