You misspelled "Tony Hinchcliffe".

No love for John Mulaney in the pre-election spot? Him and Chappell Roan is a pretty big show.

Another fun fact about Glaser: she looks alright in a see-thru dress.

I haven't watched the Brady roasts, but she's been doing those for a few years and seems well known enough to host SNL, especially if they're letting more comedians host.

The last time he hosted, it wasn't that great. Never heard of Chappell Roan so looked her up and watched a couple videos. Will be fast forwarding through her performance.

Thought that was pretty interesting. Being the the 50th season, would be cool if they bring in a lot of big "classic" names like that.

Nikki appeared on Thursday Night Football's post game show last night to do her version of football commentary/roasting.

That would be really neat. I went to see Tom Petty (RIP) and the Heartbreakers at The Woodlands in 2007 and she strolled out for "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" and then stayed for a few more tunes. Fantastic that she's still performing.

Agreed. For their 50th, I thought they'd come out of the gate with more bite/fanfare, but that was pretty mid.

If his last appearance is any indication, hopefully Bargatze delivers next episode.

The opening political sketch was extremely disappointing. They had all summer, and they bring in tons of ringers, but it really fell flat for me.

Also, I just realized this will be the first presidential election of my lifetime without an SNL debate skit.

Agreed. Writing was very weak.

To your point, I'm sure they will lampoon the VP debate.

But I'm not sure how much material is there is between Walz and Vance. The dad joke Walz character vs whatever they were trying to go with Vance doesn't give me a lot of hope.

I'm with y'all. Weekend Update was decent, but that was about it. Probably one of the least memorable presidential skits ever, even with Dana Carvey and all the other big names they brought in for it.

Jean Smart was kind of a lackluster choice for a host. Thanks to this thread I am aware she just won an Emmy, but the only thing I can remember her from is Designing Women. Hopefully next week with Bergatze will be better.

Oh Nate is on next week? I'll watch that just in case it ends up being funny somehow!

There have been far worse episodes of SNL, but there wasn't really a standout skit in my opinion. It wasn't a bad episode, just forgettable.

FYI, they put all the skits on YouTube after the show is over.

Looks like they got a real talent problem at this show now.

Maybe the weakest cast in the history of the show.

Also amazing that they fired Shane Gillis

What a turn of events.

I thought it was actually a pretty decent to good show. I often judge episodes by how many skits I fast forward through, which on average is maybe half, but I didn't fast forward through a single one tonight. The George Washington follow-up was particularly great.

That said, I'm definitely in agreement about this being the worst cast they've ever had.
AustinAg2K
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I liked it. The worst part was the VP debate cold open. The golf skit was great, and come on, if a dude died at the top of a water slide, who wouldn't want to push him down and see what happens?

I also enjoyed the Spanish game show, although it was better when Chris Farley did the same basic skit, except on a Japanese game show.

It seems to me that back in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, the cast were the main stars of every skit, and the guest host was usually just a minor character. Now, it seems like they try to make the host the star of every skit. I think that makes for a very up and down show. You have some hosts who are great, and lead to great shows, but when the host is bad, the show is bad.
