I think John will drop out of the governor's race and Jamie will run unopposed. After all, why does John need to be governor if he has Jamie in his back pocket. He didn't want to be governor in the first place, there was just no other option
not really. another plot hole was that both john and jamie know where bodies are buried already, so why the hell does it matter that jamie has one more body on his hands? Doesnt make sense at all. frankly, she didnt even get a picture of Jamie with anything other than a bag.

Dude I've got 6 acres in Bell county I don't "walk around ". Daughter saw a rattlesnake 13 years ago. I'm good. His death was a believable accident, kinda. If she had never passed by that rattler, I'd have happily walked all around. But I'm good. Gotta a golf cart.

Acreage is wasted on some people

Well imma girl so I appreciate the view. Hubby and boys can have all the fun they want. At least it's legal to kill hogs year round.

I've wondered how Jamie's dad had the money to order hits on a whole family outside of just promising they would be paid when Jamie enshrined everything.

Couple of quick thoughts:

1. this seemed more like a mid season finale than at season finale. lots of storylines that didn't go anywhere and needdd to be wrapped up

2. beth's hooters need their own spin-off

3. John Dutton has done the least amount of campaigning and working to become a governor than any human being who's ever run for office.

4. Nice to see Pryzbylewski back on his feet and in Montana doing the Lords work

5. Farewell buckle bunny. Nobody is going to miss you.

6. Monica had 2 seconds of air time this episode. That was too much

Most likely next fall. Cole Hauser said they are looking to start filming in July.

How long before Dodge comes out with a Yellowstone edition truck similar to the Ford King Ranch?

Or a 6666 edition?

If memory serves me correctly, it looked like the 6666 truck that jimmy was driving was a Ford. At the time I found that interesting given all of the Yellowstone trucks were Dodge, and considering the obsession with continual shameless product placement.

I wonder if that comes back around next season. I get that Beth's conversation on her conjugal visit was "all I am is a middle man" but he did not seem to know she was a Dutton and he only seemed to react to her saying he tried to kill her dad. Setting aside what would be precarious timing, her attack was a bomb while John and Kayce were guns.

Season finale seemed to me to be about the whole family coming back together (Jamie taking out his birth father and I took Kayce's "end of us" comment to mean he's taking the path that involves the ranch which will end his relationship). I wonder if we learn that Beth's attack was actually market equities related and that Dutton v. ME is the focus of next season.

Could be a good direction.

Let's just hope they get rid of the grandma and not make her the big villain. Couldn't be less intimidated by her old ass.

Overall thoughts on this episode / season.

-liked Jimmy in the final episode. Thought the mom jokes were overdone, but to me they were trying to show he came back and was an equal to the other guys and could talk **** with/to them. Definitely felt forced, but appreciated the idea

-loved the girl fight. GF was a little concerned with how much I liked it.

-glad Jimmy picked the Ag. If he had picked the other girl it would've been the most unbelievable thing in this show and that is saying a lot. She isn't attractive and is a ***** to him.

-Kayce felt wasted. Besides first episode of being a badass, can't remember much he did this season.

-Monica is terrible. Which is amazing because she might be best looking on the show. Also them casting the "temptress" to be a basic clone of Monica seems like a poor choice. Can't tell them apart.

-Think I agree on Beth being too over the top. Don't hate it as much as some on here, but they could definitely tone her down a bit. Make her a little vulnerable or let her make some mistakes.

-thought the ending with Jamie and his Dad was anti-climactic. For him being the main bad guy this year, doesn't seem like a fitting ending. Jamie seems like such a little ***** anyway. Can't figure out why he acts like the Duttons have treated him so poorly.

Think that pretty much covers my thoughts. Still enjoy watching the show. Scenery is great and makes up for a lot of wasted scenes/dialogue. Taylor Sheridan needs to be cut from the show from an acting perspective. Homie has gotten a little too caught up with his screen time and trying to product place the **** out of new shoes, ranches, etc.

Still enjoy sitting down on Sunday nights with a glass of scotch and watching this show to shut down the weekend.

Any woman that emulates Beth should not be surprised to find a right hook landing on their mouth someday.

I thought the way Jimmy was handled in the episode last night and the moment with him and Lloyd was outstanding.
That's exactly what I wanted for Lloyd's character. I know some have said "cowboys aren't sentimental", but I disagree....and this was a great example of a rough, hardened, cowboy like Lloyd having a moment with someone he helped mentor like a son or grandson. Lloyd deserved that.

I also liked the arc with Jimmy and Rip, after how hard Rip was on Jimmy all that time - he truly cares for Jimmy and what he's become.

The Jimmy storyline alone made that finale worth it.

And I love that Jimmy chose the Aggie vet and that she can hold her own in a fight. Really like her character.

I think this too will show up next season. The dressing down she got from John and somethings she said after make me think she'll soften up a bit.

Don't forget about Tyler Sheridan's F350 with the Cayman seats.....

Still think Ram comes out with a Yellowstone edition. Been saying that since last season, and they would be stupid to not tray and capitalize off it.

Beth has been over the top since season 2. That's just when everyone was still in their "yassss queeeennn!" phase.

Also, my guess is many viewers around the country binged the first few seasons and this was the first time they really had to watch week-to-week. Binging always allows you to quickly forget about the ****ty aspects of a show.

It's why Ozark gets the love it does.

Was thinking about that yesterday since it had been said on here before. What difference would there be from their top package already? King Ranch editions have been around over 20 years and have shaped how Ford sets up their packages. I can't see many people rushing out to buy a "Yellowstone" edition just from the show.

Only thing I have on that is there's a ton of people walking around in Yellowstone merchandise. It's picking up a lot of steam. I agree though, the Laramie Longhorn is basically their King Ranch. I just still think they could capitalize off a Yellowstone edition. I don't think it would do well in Texas, but other parts of the country would eat it up.

He was shown 2 paths and he didn't look like either one was good. "The end of us" could mean a bunch of different things. End of the Dutton ranch, end of him being with Monica/her family, everyone dying or some other tragedy.
I think most of us will agree, that we hope that it means the end of Monica. That is one character we can do without.
Don't forget Tate! The absolute worst actor on the show. I cringe every time the kid has a line.

Something else that might be worth discussing is Sheridan's ability to have a normal/likeable woman character.

My GF pointed this out to me and I started thinking ab it. Trying to think back through his films as well as Yellowstone. Not saying he should be forced to have female leads as most of his stories are male oriented, but I think we all could agree Yellowstone could use some female characters that aren't the worst.

-Hell or High Water - don't think they really had any

-Sicario - had Emily Blunt which was nice. Been a while since I've seen it but she was pretty well rounded if I recall. Had bad ass moments, but also weak moments (in a good way).

-Wind River - had the Olsen sister helping Jeremy Renner. Don't remember too much about her either way.

Yellowstone - you have Beth who we all agree is over the top. Monica who is in no way likeable. Barrel racers who do nothing for me. I do like the new girl for Jimmy. Think that storyline was written well and they both were more complex about pain and moving on than I would have thought for this show.

Anyway just something to think about. Not trying to turn this into a SJW thread about having more women or anything like that. IMO seems like his women characters take on more male characteristics. Strong, hard headed, physical, with not a lot of complexity or range.

One of the things that occured to me after rewatching all 4 seasons is that the story lines from the past keep coming back. The problem is that we, as the audience, have forgotten about those storylines. Kayce keeps being brought up as wasted. Go watch the last three episodes of season 3 and go into season 4. You'll see the tie in..which for me is now very clear. Let me help recap it for y'all.

1. Kayce becomes livestock commissioner.
2. He goes all badass.
3. Ranchers show up at Kayce's office encouraging him to run for governor.
4. Jamie finds out he's adopted and comes to Kayce to relay the bad news about the ranch. He shows up after meeting in number 3. "No one ever did that with him," meaning no ranchers showed up to ask John for anything. He asks Kayce to deliver the news because Beth won't listen to him. Kayce tells Jamie that he's his brother no matter what.
5. Kayce tells Beth
6. Beth tells John.
7. Big meeting happens.
8. Everyone is blown up/shot.
9. Kayce is freaking conflicted for season 4. He got shot, his family is in disarray and he's worried about his dad/ranch.
10. Vision quest highlights Lee, the war, and the paths.

In the end, Kayce winds up running for governor. And that's why we think he was wasted because he, in fact, was wasted and conflicted.

IMO, the female FBI agent played by Elizabeth Olsen was done well, both from an acting and a writing aspect. She had to come into male-dominated worlds (LEO and the Rocky Mountains) and prove herself, and she held her own. She didn't show any airs of entitlement, didn't expect to be pampered, didn't complain, relied on Renner's character's expertise.

And Natalie, the young Native American woman who was raped, was also portrayed as a fighter. Renner said something like, "...that's a warrior. She made it six miles, barefoot. I doubt you make it 600 yards."

So that's at least two strong female characters.

The sassy waitress in HoHW was pretty good too, and held her own against the officers wanting the cash as evidence.
