Acoustic to start, I'd like to get into electric, but want to learn chords and be able to switch between them without having to look at where my fingers are.

Fullers is about 5 min from my house, I might run by there today.

Robin has a history but if you read back on this thread you'll see that they are weird now. They don't build the Robin brand now. They don't sell a lot of new electrics. They have some higher end acoustics. Much of what is displayed is not for sale like it's a museum or something.

Their luthier did good work on one of my acoustics. There is that.

You might find an acoustic at Robin. Check their Reverb page. It's linked on their site.

I haven't yet been to Fuller. Need to go by and check them out.

Installed some Kluson style locking tuners this evening. They're just so much easier to string.

Been eyeing these for a while, and finally pulled the trigger. Ended up offering $900 and was agreed on

https://reverb.com/item/53297353-victory-amps-sheriff-22-compact-series-dual-channel-22-watt-guitar-head

Really love how the Victory Sheriff does the "Marshall" thing. Apparently, it has a very good master volume, as well.

Now I just wait. I'm going to probably sell my Dr. Z Maz 18, because I love my Tone King Imperial, and now i'll have something for that Marshall sound at reasonable volumes.

So now I need to figure out how good I need to be to justify a $4,300 guitar...

I'm not good enough to justify anywhere near what I've spent on guitars. Don't let that hold you back.

I want a Paoletti.

What is the neck thickness like? That's the one thing keeping me from buying one. Also, no one in Houston seems to carry them, so I haven't gotten a chance to play one.

I love the fact that they are made from over 100 year old chestnut.

Had my eye on a purple HSS one of those. Very tempting…

If y'all haven't been to that shop and guitars as art is your jam, you won't be disappointed. I was walking around and was like- oh, a Gibson, nope some deal made by a dude in Maine that grows his own maple trees and invented the humbucker - and it could be yours for $6k. Oh, a strat? Nope, it's the guy that invented the Fender Custom Shop then punched out to make his own w 3 of his buddies- could be yours for 5k... super cool shop.

Should have just splurged for this $70,000 guitar and called it a day.

I recently bought a Katana 100 MkII and love it. Don't really need the 100 watts, but it has more bells and whistles than the 50 watt version. Since I gig with it I definitely needed the foot controller, but you don't need it for bedroom jamming. I doubt if people in the audience could tell the difference between it and a tube amp.
I recently swapped my 100 for the 100 Artist. Holy crap, what a difference in tone. The larger cabinet and WAZA speaker make a huge difference. Worth the extra money.

Shows to arrive, tomorrow! I'll be pairing it with my 2x12 Marshall slanted cab! Can't wait to give it a whirl.

So, it arrived around 3:30. Had to basically stop working early to play with it. Really loving the sounds i'm getting out of it. Very smooth and has a great master volume, so I can actually play at a reasonable level and still get great tones.

It has a channel 1 and channel 2. From what I'm hearing with both channels, Channel 1 seems VERY plexi like. It's much cleaner than channel 2, and has more bass to it. Channel 2 seems to do that JCM800 thing extremely well.

I've tried the Marshall Studio Vintage (mini Plexi) and Marshall Studio Classic (mini JCM800). I couldn't really dial in a sound I was truly looking for, and especially at any reasonable level, despite them being 20w amps. Both of these channels on the Sheriff seem to get me what I wanted on both of those other amps, but in a single head.

I've heard this about the Sheriff in a review video, and completely agree: The Sheriff sounds like the way you hear a marshall on your favorite recordings. It's a strange thing to say, but every marshall I've played, has never really sounded like I was looking for. This thing has already hit that for me, with minimal tweaking. My Lester sounded amazing on it playing either classic rock or punk rock. Plugged in my Tele, and it also sounded amazing. Can't wait to try out all my other guitars.

Definitely keeping this one. Now I have my Victory for the "Marshall Plexi/JCM800" thing, and I have my Tone King for that "Fender Blackface/Tweed" thing.

Enjoy the Music is Win channel and he spent 22 minutes going through the different pickup settings. Really sounds good.

I was perusing guitars last night for the heck of it. Looking at affordable models for my first electric. And some others that would not be considered affordable.

I pretty much like every color offered of this guitar. I don't know the player who it's named after but he must be something to have a PRS signature model.

Not sure about a Floyd but I love the look and description.

When looking at electric guitars, first you need to decide what kind of sound you want to hear when you play it. Name an artist or a band. Who's music do you want to play.

From there, you look at models that will get you as close a possible, then you find one you like the look of.

That guitar has some form of high output pickup, it seems. I personally don't like high output pickups because I don't play metal or heavy rock. I prefer classic rock, blues, and started with punk rock. Medium to low output pickups are what I use.

Granted, you could always get a guitar you love the look of, then swap out the pickups to a set you prefer.

That guy plays pretty technical progressive metal, so the pickups are going to be voiced for high distortion. They should still sound pretty good clean, but they will be pretty "hot". You probably don't want a Floyd Rose tremolo for your first electric.

It is more of a "this guitar looks amazing" post, not a "I'm ready to drop $2500 on my first electric" post.

Classic rock would be the sound I would be interested in.

Good, because that price for a bolt-on neck guitar that is mass produced is way too high. At that price, you could get a used Fender custom shop guitar.

Used? For $2500?

I played a used Ibanez Prestige that was $1500 that I really liked the feel of but didn't like the color. Somebody bought it, and a $1200 one just like it from the same store went fast as well. That $1200 wasn't priced correctly they said.

Really liked the feel of the roasted maple neck and fingerboard.

Just went to Fullers Guitars and walked out with a Taylor Academy 10e. Great looking guitar and can't wait to get home and start practicing with it.

Definitely recommend Fullers. Great selection and the staff was fantastic. No pressure, answered my questions, set up my guitar, showed me how the tuner worked and threw in some picks, a cleaning cloth and some other things.

Congrats, those Taylor Academy series are very good value guitars IMO. I've played several of them including the nylon string variety and they've all been super comfortable and surprisingly great sounding guitars. I think you'll love it!

Congrats! I've been to Fullers several times and they're great over there.

I think you'll really enjoy the Academy 10e. Great value for the price. Lots of projection. Even Taylor's laminate models are built very precisely with great necks, very easy to play. And you'll be glad you have the built-in pickup. I have a 114e and it's fantastic for the price.

Saw my brother this week. Got to see his guitar that his wife got him for Christmas.

It's purty and it sounds good. Love the bird inlays on the fingerboard.
