Yeah... I'mma stick with my '02 Standard. Plays and sounds like a dream.
Appreciate the reply. I figured it wouldn't be your style and I asked my local guitar teacher today if he'd seen one before and he wasn't versed either. I suppose I'd need a big ol' pedal board to go with it for the full effect.DallasTeleAg said:
Sorry, I do not. Never played a synth guitar in my life.

I've had good luck with Sweetwater. Plus they send you candy (Sweet Tarts, Bit O Honey, etc) when you buy something.
I can't believe you are failing to give credit, where credit is due....johnnyblaze36 said:
DallasTeleAg - do you know anything about this Casio Dg-20 guitar Billy Strings played last night? I looked it up on ebay and they are all cheap and sold in Japan. I'm wondering if those are knockoffs.
Obviously I'm into signatures and bits (no pun intended) but this is pretty amazing:

I'm a relatively new player without even an electric to plug into an amp yet. I do have a couple of acoustics with pickups. I'm not worried about getting a Marshall or Fender or a Plexi or something yet. I know the value of tube amps over solid state. Just not sure I need that yet.
What peripherals do you recommend?

Not a new guitar for me, but for a friend that lives in California. Played in a band with him in high school when I played bass. He still plays live regularly.
He was Les Paul guy for a long time. Then he played PRS for decades. At least 20 years. Now he has his first Collings.
He just got through trading a PRS and some money for this beauty. He said it's the best playing guitar he's ever picked up. He's been playing ~40 years so that's quite a statement.
It sure is pretty!

The only peripherals a beginner will really need is lessons and practice time. You can always get a cheapo electric from a pawn shop, then take it to a guitar store for a setup.
Sure. You can go get a nice amp, and a bunch of effects pedals or a multi-effects box, and it's fun, but doesn't improve playing. Just costs money until you get better. If it is fun enough to make you practice more, then maybe worth picking up a few toys.

He lives 150 miles away.
He collects guitars so he can get them autographed by artists at concerts and then hangs them on his walls. It's his decor.
Maybe I can talk him into selling the Ibanez. It hasn't been signed yet.

Based on that. I would go pay him a visit and play around on his collection to see if you like any particular style, ie strat style with single coils or les Paul style withhamburgerslmao. Humbuckers. Fixed bridge vs floating (I suggest fixed at this stage of the game). 22 frets vs 24. Fat neck vs skinnier. Etc...

Thanks!
I'm looking at a Katana (mini or larger), Blackstar (fly or larger), or a Spark.

From what i've heard, the Katana is a go to for solid state amps.
I would definitely stay away from a floating bridge on a cheap guitar. Tuning stability will always be an issue for cheap guitars, without upgraded parts.
