My favorite was when MicMac used to be filtered because it was a derogatory nickname for Fran's assistant. I once registered Fran Observer Observer as a handle since he was Fran Observer. I got banned after a single post.

My purple Strat build is almost complete.
Spalted maple top over purpleheart and chambered ambrosia maple body. I was a little worried the purple would take away from the figuring on the top, but honestly I think it just added to it. Cove bit was used to make the edge detail and then I hand caved the tummy and arm bevels. Roasted maple fretboard was a pain but came out great under finish. Just gotta add hardware and spend several days setting it up now. Body and neck without hardware is 5.5 lbs, so it will be a comfortable weight when complete.

Finally, NGD came! This thing shipped from a shop in Calgary and customs delayed it for about 4 days, in Kentucky, for some reason. Finally was out for delivery, yesterday, and YET AGAIN UPS ****S UP MY DELIVERY. This is the 4th time in a row I have had to go out and track down the UPS driver. Spent an hour looking for him and finally had given up. On the way back home I happened to see a UPS truck turn, in my rearview mirror. Doubled back and, sure enough, it was my useless UPS driver.

10-Top McCarty 594 in Eriza Verde.

Acoustic guitar question: Does anyone have opinions on a Taylor 814ce Builders Edition?

It's the main high end Taylor acoustic. There are more expensive ones, but I think this is the standard for their high end. The Builders Edition has a rounded edge that is comfortable on the forearm, it plays like butter, and sounds bright and Taylor-y. I've spotted one for $2750 used, they go for $3,999 new.

I have a Martin D28 that sounds a little better, but is not as smooth to play. I also have a low end Taylor Electric/Acoustic that is a good beater guitar.

Opinions on the 814ce?

So, I've been playing the new McCarty and having a blast. However, the neck pot has contact issues and is causes a lot of weird electrical noise when I roll it back. So I'm probably going to just swap out the entire wiring kit with an Emerson one.

I do have a big critique, though. Why does ANYONE like modern wiring? I wish I understood why they would even wire this in modern wiring and not 50's wiring.

Who here prefers modern vs 50's? I honestly want to know why you do. 50's wiring provides SUCH better tones when rolling back the volume pots. The interaction between the vol and tone pots is also far superior for better clarity when rolling back volume. I wire EVERY humbucker guitar this way and don't get why anyone wouldn't.

Is it the itchy/scratchy kind of noise? I'm assuming you tried the contact cleaner approach, i.e. CAIG DeoxIT

Taylor necks are the most comfortable playing instruments IMO. If it's a Builder's Edition 814ce, then it probably has an Adirondack top which adds more headroom than a standard Sitka spruce top. You can check the serial number with Taylor customer service to confirm.

Nothing against Martins, I'm just of the belief that a player is more likely to pick up an acoustic guitar that's more comfortable to play.

No, scratchy pots are a very common issue. This is an electrical issue of some kind. It's a contact issue and causes some additional electrical noise to come through. I'm not talking about while rotating the pot. I'm talking about a constant noise.
