Just finished and also need to marinate on everything. For those that haven't finished yet, I just discovered the Dark website is spoiler free. You can select the season and episode you are up to and it is protected and shows you the current state of the family tree. Wish I had been using it during season 3.

Finale spoilers: So I don't remember the specifics of Noah's description of Paradise to Elisabeth, but I think it technically was the ending they got. A world where all of their pain has been erased.

I just feel bad for poor Woller. after all of that he ends up with Hannah?! Maybe Hannah isn't as crazy since there's no Ulrich?

End of Season Spoiler:

Yea, I think part of Hannah's "malfunction" was that she was intertwined with people who should not exist. Mikkel (her husband), Ulrich (her lover), Jonas (her son) all should not have existed. I think that was "glitching" her Matrix. So I'd assume that "origin timeline" Hannah would be more stable/rational.

Interesting take on the final scene at the end of this article.

We believe somehow that Jonas and Martha's love will find a way in this origin world. As Jonas said, again and again throughout the show, they are a perfect match. Fans of "Dark" shouldn't believe anything else.

Some of my greatest hits from page one:

Quote:

Like presumably alt-martha is the Eve to Jonas' Adam, so possible that they have a kid that's part of all of this?

Quote:

so is Tannhaus. I think there's a lot more to his story to come.

Quote:

In response to why he hasn't tried to kill himself: I actually think he might have, and maybe we'll see that this season. The way he was so imminently confident that Noah couldn't kill him makes me think he may have tried to kill himself (several times?) and it didn't work. Could also be why he looks the way he does.

Love the ending overall. Loved the series. Impossible to not have a couple questions / thoughts though.

Alexander Koehler story was either a true red herring or they made a decision to change it at some point. I swear when they did the original story of him coming to town he was in the woods with a helicopter over head. Could have been any helicopter in modern time but it was the exact same time episode wise when Jonas was running through the woods in the future with futuristic helicopters overhead. Anyway, maybe I was just expecting more from that.

I struggle to understand the Noah arc. Towards the end they try to depict him as being more normal through the years of 2020 to 2040 and up until Charlottes disappearance. I feel like he was crazy when he killed the guy in Season 2 Episode 1. Just doesn't feel consistent for that kid to be the father of Charlotte. By the way, who did he kill? I thought it was felt to be Bartosz. Is that still the case? Seems Bartosz had a completely different story.

Also, pretty hard to imagine the crazy love child of Jonas and Martha with Agnes!

That timeline was really helpful actually!

But what was Noah building a time travel chair for to begin with? And how did he get middle aged Helge to help him? Was it by saying that if he helps, he'd be helping to send young Helge back to the 50s? Weird to think that Helge was likely with his younger self while his younger self was in the 80s.

I posted the same question. It makes no sense. I think it was just a season 1 plot device.

German TV and movies are not considered to be very strong with Dark a definite exception. Do you see any of these actors making a jump to stardom not only in Germany but globally especially say the US. ??

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think Louis Hoffman (Jonas) has the best shot.

I would say Louis Hoffman also although the actress that played Hannah could as well.

The first time through I watched the dubbed version quite a bit and then the rewatch of the first two seasons and the third was entirely with subtitles. I will say you definitely appreciate the acting much more with the subtitles and hearing the German audio. The casting as well was incredible and they did a great job of keeping consistent across generations.

I thought the actress playing the older version of Katharina was exceptional throughout the show as well.

Don't want to thread **** too much, but if you liked the challenge of trying to keep up with all of the time travel loops in this show I recommend you watch the movie Primer. It's extremely low budget but very well done. I think it's the best and most practical (if there is such a thing) take on time travel. Last I checked it was on Netflix.

I'm trying to remember the sequence here, but at that point Noah already believes that Jonas betrayed him and helped someone take Charlotte. So I think he's trying to get to Adam/Jonas, but he doesn't have any way of getting to Adam?

Later, he's going to have one of the machines, but he doesn't have one yet maybe?
Brian Earl Spilner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't think so. That happens after he kills Claudia in season 2 and gets the final pages, at which point he immediately confronts Adam and gets killed by Agnes.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
What else would be the point then? I guess just another "it always happened this way so you have to do it" thing?
Brian Earl Spilner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've been wondering as well, and that's pretty much the only thing I can come up with it. "Filling in the gaps", as one character said.

Although...

Helge gets sent forward to 1986 (by the bunker portal), and then gets sent back to 1954 via the chair.

So, I think they just wanted to have a working chair in order to send Helge back?
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think you're onto something there.

Noes Noah already know that Helge is Elizabeth's grandfather? If so, he knows that he has to send Helge back or else Elizabeth won't exist, so he builds the machine because he has to send Helge back to a specific time and not just back 33 years?
Brian Earl Spilner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Good point. He definitely knows who Elisabeth is, and her family. (Though I'm still wondering how he didn't put 2 and 2 together that Elisabeth's mom, also named Charlotte, was his daughter.)

So, he surely knows Helge needs to be sent back. Not to mention the fact that he's been using adult Helge to help kidnap the boys, so he knows he needs to be sent back in order to fulfill that purpose.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think you can explain that away that he basically never thought of it. A lot of people name babies with family names, and he had no real reason to think that his Charlotte would have been brought back. Especially because she was brought back in between the normal loop, it wasn't on the 33 year pattern.
Brian Earl Spilner
How long do you want to ignore this user?
True, plus I guess it could be assumed that Elisabeth named her daughter Charlotte to honor her mother, who she believed to be dead at the time.
Madagascar
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It also makes me think of the pocket watch in S1 that says 'to Charlotte'. How did Noah know that it used to belong to Elizabeth's mother and not know she was his daughter? Also who was the Charlotte that the watch was originally engraved for in the ~1850s when the old man Tanhuas pulls it out in front of his blind son?
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Again, he could have thought Charlotte was named for her grandmother and that it was her grandmother's watch. There wasn't any particular reason for him to know that Charlotte was her own grandmother.

And we don't know the original Charlotte.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
What's interesting is going to be how many scenes take on new meaning on a rewatch.

For example: It's Noah that originally tells Jonas that he can't kill himself because the old version of him already exists. So when he finally does try to kill him when he's old, but can't, it kind of gives that scene a new dimension.
