Well... if the couple is Old Jonas and Old Martha... she definitely aged better than old Jonas

Was anyone else disappointed with the lack of explanation at Adam's appearance? Why did nobody else look like that after travelling so much? Especially Noah.

When he Episode 7: starts getting zapped by those tesla coils, I thought for sure that would be the cause of his appearance. Guess not.

I assumed the "zap" that caused his suit to rip exposed him to massive amounts of radiation which then causes him to become Adam. Because every traveler that used the swirling black mass always approached with protective gear.

I kind of assumed it was going to be from working with the coils AND being exposed to the radiation in the future. This one doesn't bother me much but I do wish they'd have thrown in a line of dialogue other than just 'he travels a lot.'

Solid video recapping the family trees and reveals from Season 3.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned that I liked was the way they visually kept the worlds separate. Alt-world was dark and always either misty or foggy and then the original world was brightly lit and had a different aspect ratio. Visually it was pretty easy to tell what world they were in. They also had that kind of 'pulled through a wormhole' transition whenever we shifted worlds, but if you happened to miss that it was nice having other visual cues also.

Yea I really liked how they made alt world apocalypse a desert while "Jonas world" was just rainy all the time.

You can tell they put a ton of effort into making it easy for the viewer to discern which timeline/worlds they were in. With the "ticking" noise denoting a time travel and the "whoosh" denoting a world change.

This show is like being enrolled in Organic Chem your first semester at A&M: having to learn new terminology in a foreign language while thinking in multiple dimensions and fully aware your prof is gunning to weed you out with intricate two correct answer exam questions but which is best which lead to questioning why you were force enrolled into this hellscape, questioning your major, questioning life choices, questioning.. questioning.. tic toc tic..

Just finished. Enjoyed this season less than the others but I still think it was a great series. They did do a great job tying up every loose end out there that I can recall. This season felt like they added a ton of elements to the world too quickly and was a bit upset that the ultimate solution to the knot was a never mentioned until final episode third world that they just had to go to at the right time. Seems like all the world building and suspense up to this point was for nothing and the answer was really easy.

Overall still highly recommend it.

One of the "neater" family trees I've seen yet --> Finale spoilers.

Updated version

Egon ends up being surpisingly central to the Winden family tree. Take him out and you wipe out both the Nielsens and the Tiedemanns. Pretty sure he is the most "connected" character. The true origin.

Thanks BES and everyone else who recommended this show. Overall it was a really good show and very enjoyable. The first two seasons up until they introduced alternate world Martha would rank easily in my top 5 shows of all time.

But when they introduced that new aspect to the show I was hesitant in the direction they would take it because I felt it would take away from so much of the story they had built up over the first 2 seasons.

So that's as negative as I will be because overall it was a very well done show and very enjoyable (especially the first 2 seasons) so thanks all for recommending to watch it.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Having sat on it for a week, I do agree that S3 is probably my least favorite due to the reasons mentioned, but with all that considered, I do think they stuck the landing as well as they possibly could have given what we knew at the end of S2.

Right now my scores would be:
S1 - 9.5/10
S2 - 10/10
S3 - 9.0/10

Overall score (not avg) - 9.8/10

Just such a fantastic show overall. I do want to rewatch the last season relatively soon, and see where I'm at.

Three episodes in and all I can think is GET ON WITH IT!!! Every other scene is the same *****

"What? Why am I here? What is going on?"

"I can't tell you right now. Time is a circle"

"Omg it's you!"

"No, I'm not who you think I am"

I'm just over this show's self infatuation. There's something really crazy going on but first you have to sit through a constant sludge of ambiguity. While you wait for something interesting to happen here's a bunch of before and afters of each character and ramblings from old people telling the young people / audience nothing.

I thought season two was the best season of any series I had seen. Season 3 was the way it was expected to go but I really think they could have done a better job of character development and really left a few storylines just dangling a bit. Loved the whole series at a complete story however I agree with Brian about his scores he gave each season.

I agree. If they had spent a few more episodes showing more about how everything played out, it would have been nice. The first two seasons have so much buildup and ending felt rushed in comparison.

Felt like season 3 was very confusing with all the different worlds stuff. Did like the way it ended though.

Just finished binging seasons 1-3 over the weekend. Dark has moved up to one of the top 5 shows I have ever watched. yes, the story repeated itself, but understanding and spotting the different nuances is what makes this an awesome show. I had to keep a pen and paper nearby to understand the family tree (I didn't see the family trees posted on this thread prior to now). I'm going to have to digest some of this and re-watch at a later date.

How has no one mentioned/noticed the cut on Martha's face switched to the other side of her face in the last episode? Bugged the hell out of me in every seen she was in during episode 8.

Pete the guy on YouTube addresses this. it is switched when she is in alternate worlds. It was the showmakers way of helping us stay oriented.

I think it was the same with the creepy threesome and they had their cut on the other side of their mouth. I assumed it was just the alternate world at the time.

Weird. Nothing logical about assuming viewers will figure that out without some sort of rationale behind it. Shouldn't have to watch a YouTube video to get it. Most of the questions and oddities in the show had some way to explain them somewhere along the way, which makes it such a fun experience. But this one just seemed thrown in with no rhyme or reason. Nitpicking, yes, but it seemed like an odd thing to put in there without giving any sort of explanation. Or maybe they did, and I missed it entirely.

Oh, and is it just me, or is Martha not as attractive with black hair? She seemed less attractive in season 3, I assumed from her hair.

Oh they did? That one I missed. Well at least in that case, there's some consistency with that detail. Maybe I need a rewatch to get everything.

lol yea, every facial feature was switched in the alt worlds. The Origin's cleft lip, Claudia's eye colors were reversed, Woller's left arm was missing (as opposed to his right eye), Helge's right ear disfiguration was switched to a left eye and even the physical aspects of the buildings were mirrored (jonas' house was inverted, as was the school, town street lights, nuclear facility layout, etc.).

Well those things I understand. Those are literally completely different people. My issue was the same character with physical features in different places based on which world they're in. Why would the cut switch to a different location on one Martha when she switches worlds? That was my confusion. The other things you mentioned were cool and nice touches, though. I'll just accept that when moving from my world to another everything is inverted like a mirror. It's just not consistent. Otherwise Helge's ear disfigurement would be on the left side and wollers left eye would be missing in the alt world. But obviously, those physical changes are due to different experiences they go through, and not due to being mirrored. Again, nit picky.

I didn't notice the building features being mirrored. That's a great touch.

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I actually appreciate the mirrored traits thing, especially after pointing out that there actually is consistency that I missed. This is why I love discussions on here when watching more complex shows. And it adds a lot to an overall great show like this. I'm a bit too simple minded to catch everything obviously.

lol you're not being nit picky, you're just expressing a different artistic taste. The show was consistent in how characters/places were portrayed depending on which world they were in. Besides, it's helpful device for viewers to know when the Origin is in Jonas/Adam world vs Marta/Eva world.
