Honestly, I concede that ultimately it would come off as lame, but I still like the idea of a ghost "Darth Vader", is the Vader fell so deep and had some much hatred it manifested into its own Sith ghost. Similar to Darth Nilihus in KOTOR 2.
The Darth Vader comic portrayed a "spirit Vader" like this:

Sorry if already posted - don't remember seeing this, but it's a pretty cool fan-created trailer for the entire saga.

Definitely the coolest star wars related thing i've seen posted on this board.

Well, maybe there is an Asgardian somewhere in the Skywalker bloodlines mixing with those midachlorians.

Whoever made that seems to definitely be all in on the 'Rey is a Skywalker' theory.

I mean if you are pregnant and starting a new life on your own on Tatooine, that's as good of last name as any.

Peace is restored to the galaxy, Rey has defeated the first order, but at great cost. But there's hope... she can go back to the past and change it all with her new powers...

Her lover and father of her unborn child, Kylo Ren, is dying from an encounter with the dark side of the force that no medicine can heal... but she can fix it...

She opens a portal to the past...

Kylo: "Where will you go? Back to Jakku?"

Rey looks back, she knows she's leaving behind everyone that she loves...

Rey: "No...

A long pause and she's about to step into the portal...

I don't like sand..."

Well I finished "Resistance Reborn" this morning and it really looks like TROS will be pulling from all Star Wars material and not just movies. The story definitely pulled in all the characters from the novels and seemed to place them at the heart of the Resistance. Can't wait to see some of these characters in the movie.

Have you read "Spark of the Resistance"? All of these years watching Star Wars films, I have never read one of the books. Trying to decide which of the two Journey to Star Wars books for this movie to read first. I see there is a third book coming out next week "Force Collector".

This is the only one I've read in preparation for TROS. It ties in nicely to some of the other books, but if you didn't read them I am not sure you'd get all the references in it. It ties in Inferno Squad, Bloodlines, and the Aftermath trilogy.

I've never read a Star Wars book, but may be open to starting.

Where is the best place to start? Is there any website or timeline that shows when each one is taking place or which are most critical?

I'd focus on canon, but would be interested in legends, too. There's so much I don't even know where to start

I don't think there's a definitive answer of where to start. It depends on what part of Star Wars interests you the most

Pick up Tim Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy, which are Legends, but are so, so great.

I have mentioned it in one of these Star Wars thread before (and given my review), but I would recommend the Darth Plagueis book. It takes us through the rise of Palpatine, right up to the end of Episode 1.

A few months ago, I posted here about how I thought this would be a really important book for building the backstory of TROS. From the rumors we have heard, Ep9 will involve our heroes looking for something in the Death Star. Not sure if its true, but I kind of figured it had something to do with Darth Plagueis' lab... which could explain a clone or Rey, or Reys backstory. Just a lot of guessing on my part. But if your a SW fan, this is a good one to read since it fills in a lot of gaps in the story.. and it might come up useful for TROS.

As a side note, I'm starting to think the Clone Wars may play an even more important role. The Darth Plagueis book isn't well known among the general public, and I think they have to explain this whole series off with a well known backstory. I'm starting to think they will depend on that quite a bit. One thing that has bugged me is how do they get all those ships we see in the trailer. After all, the entire Rebellion fit on the Falcon at the end of the last atrocity. This is just my guess and I am purposefully staying away from spoilers, but if people dont want to even think about possibilities, here is what I'm thinking / kind of hoping happens:

If Rey / Finn / Poe are on a quest, and are searching for it in the remnants of the Death Star... how about they are looking for some secret pointing to the Kamino cloning facility. They find the secret which leads them to the ability to clone, or a set of ready to go clones. And this is who is partially manning the ships we see in the trailer. I guess another possibility is they are able to resurrect a droid army. I think a few re-purposed droids were shown in Rebels. It would be awesome if they could bring back Rex from Rebels. I so love that they retro placed him into ROTJ as the bearded guy.

{Cool stuff from Star Wars Insider. Not sure why it says Dec 15, 2019, maybe that's the premiere. Several cool tidbits especially on the FO page.

Of course the only white males are the bad guys who have been made out to be evil, insecure, and incompetent.

I am all for being inclusive but lets not go full pathetic sjw.

And what fun are incompetent villains?

Of course the main new side characters are all frumpy, unnatractive, unheroic looking people. I get not going full cheesy starship troopers on casting, and im ok with a few frumpy 'everyman' heroes, but come on...one frumpy fat chick and one string bean in skinny jeans is enough. Its a movie. We deserve some good looking people.

Rey is hot at least.

If you are going to bring in a faceless new character in a power ranger suit, at least use a supermodel bod. And i love keri russel, but that looks ridiculous.

Yes, the series definitely needed more white males. That's what was really missing. Now nobody can identify themselves in the movie. Sad!

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Speaking of George, in a recent interview with Total Film (via Games Radar), J.J. Abrams revealed he held a meeting with Lucas to discuss the nature of midi-chlorians, the controversial Force-sensitive microbes introduced in The Phantom Menace.

Yes, there were some conversations about Midi-chlorians - he loves his Midi-chlorians. But it was a very helpful thing. Sitting with him is a treat, just to hear him talk, because it's ****ing George Lucas talking about Star Wars. I always feel it's a gift to hear him talk about that stuff. Because the effect that he had on me at 10 years old is utterly profound.

Fully agree with this advice.
Read Darth Plagueis and then pretend Phantom Menace doesn't exist other than the Darth Maul fight scene at the end.(Unless you have some kink that involves trade negotiations then totally watch Phantom Menace.)

VERY interesting. The WGA has awarded Derek Connolly & Colin Trevorrow - who wrote a scrapped draft of Episode IX before being fired (when Trevorrow was set to direct) - a "Story by" credit alongside Chris Terrio & J. J. Abrams. What this means is that Abrams kept enough of their story in his and Terrio's draft that the WGA sees fit to give Connolly & Trevorrow partial credit. This does not mean that anything from Connolly & Trevorrow's actual screenplay is being used, only that enough of their general story points/arcs/etc were used to qualify for an official "Story by" credit. I can't remember the actual percentage, but I think you can contribute as little as like 33% to the story and still get a credit, so it's not like Abrams used a ton of their stuff, but definitely more than we thought. So the credits will read as such...

Screenplay by
Chris Terrio & J. J. Abrams

Based on Characters Created by
George Lucas

Story by
Derek Connolly & Colin Trevorrow and Chris Terrio & J. J. Abrams

It was assumed that Connolly & Trevorrow's version was completely scrapped and that Terrio & Abrams started from scratch, but that's obviously not the case...

I don't really see this as a negative at all. Things like this happen all the time. Connolly & Trevorrow wrote a draft and Terrio & Abrams used some of their story points. That's all this is. It's just that the WGA couldn't make a ruling until a final draft/cut of the movie was complete. Nothing has changed nor is Lucasfilm scrambling or anything like that.

I'd rather have the best of a bunch of people than just 1-2 deciding how the saga ends. The Mandalorian plucks stuff from a couple of Legends book authors and the show is better than rewriting everything Mando lore (get it?))

One month a few hours from now I'll be seeing this at the CineCitta in Nuremberg. Only 30 more days or so of wild speculation. Unfortunately they're only showing it in German in the main theater, so we're in one of the smaller ones.

I'm seeing it a 9:30 PM Nuremberg time which is 2:30 PM here so I'm actually seeing it before most of my buddies. I've already told them I'm going to text all kinds of fake spoilers.

Anyone else seeing this somewhere weird?
