He looked pretty winded a few times during the fight with the bugs. Been skipping cardio for sure.

Crap. That annoying beta male from the Verizon commercials is in this? Oh well.

Also, at the end, the title of the movie is shown as Godzilla II: King of the Monsters, but the "II" is not on the posters. I hope they leave that off. [edit] Apparently, I was watching an international version of the trailer.

Otherwise, very exciting trailer.

I was halfway hoping MBB's nose would start bleeding there at the beginning of the trailer.

Not quite as awe inducing as the first trailer, but that was badass none-the-less. If you would have told me as a Godzilla obsessed 8 year old that a Godzilla movie could look and sound like this, I wouldn't have believed you.

Agreed. That first trailer was best-of-the-year material, and this one is still good, but a bit underwhelming. We'll likely get one final trailer in March, and that one should feel the most "complete" in terms of character/story set-up, monster action, etc. Regardless, the movie itself is easily one of my most anticipated of the year at this point. It just looks flat out amazing.

Just watched the trailer... was not expecting that out of Stranger Things 3, but it looks pretty cool!!!

The way Godzilla was moving when charging Ghidorah just looked off to me. Something that bulky usually looks a bit more sluggish than that. Not to mention it seems a lot more agile/quicker than he did in the first movie.

I really like how well the scale of these movies feel though.

Puts on nerd glasses; Godzilla looked like the old nature videos of a charging iguana on its hind legs...

I mean you have a point, it just looks odd to me for a 300-something foot tall creature to move like that I guess.

I can't wait for the Pacific Rim crossover that ignores the second PR movie.

In one of the trailers there is a narration that "we (humans) are the virus" and the monsters are there to take care of the virus.

Please tell me this is not going to be a climate change movie....

I hope it's a replacement fertility movie. Just humans been breeding like rats and the titans come out to lay waste to everyone.

Same line is in the matrix but I don't consider it a climate change movie. Why does such a minor line ruin what amounts to a popcorn flick even if they do bring up climate change more extensively.

It was in the 2019 thread when the first trailer dropped. It got heated (no pun intended), and there's no reason to go down that road again.

Wonder if David Bowie will sing on the soundtrack?

It's arguments like this that always remind me of what Roger Ebert used to write about it in some his reviews. Ebert always used to say that he judged a movie on "how" it was about something and not "what" it was about. So, for example, he liked both The Last Temptation of Christ, (Scorsese's controversial masterpiece about the gospels that was protested for being blasphemous by some Christian groups), and The Passion, even though they we're on total opposite ends of the religious/political spectrum. While he was an avowed liberal and agnostic, he gave The Passion four stars because he admired the artistry involved. Another example is that Ebert, who was also staunchly against the death penalty, famously panned the film The Life David Gale because, even though it had a message he agreed with, it didn't dictate that message in an artful and meaningful way.

The point is that as college educated adults, you should be able to see a movie that contains a theme that you may not agree with and still have fun and admire the quality involved. Godzilla being about global warming could fit that narrative to a T.

Man, that's really, really good. I love that so much. Ebert was the man.

Yeah, I really miss Ebert. The dude was easily my go to critic for everything I saw for years. Even on movies I disagreed with him on, he at least was able to articulate why he disliked a film in an entertaining way. His pans are some of the best things period I've ever read. There really isn't a critic like that for me know that I can really go to and trust. Ironically and kind of embarrassingly, I thought Devin Faraci would take up the mantle until he was revealed to be a certified creep.

Dude, what's creepy is that I was literally thinking the EXACT same thing as I was reading your post - thinking how Faraci was that for me as well - and then, boom, you mentioned his name too. I looked forward to every single review he wrote, and agreed with him 99% of the time. I'm still so pissed that he turned out to be such a perv. Granted, he seems like he's in a MUCH better head space now, but man do I miss his reviews.

Yeah, Devin was like that for me as well. He could really cut through a movie and reveal what worked and what didn't work in such an incendiary fashion. Unlike Ebert though, Devin had that Gen X, ******* trolling nature that sometimes would piss me off. Like all really good writers though, he managed to make me consider his position, even if he was pissing me off while doing it. There's really not a critic out there right now that even comes close to that.
