I don't know why, but I think this movie is going to be a major disappointment; plot and acting wise that is.
Given your other posts....

nice troll.

I've seen the trailers. Honestly, meh. I plan on watching it. But, I just have this strange feeling that the movie is more style than substance.

The director's first two features have an average Rotten Tomatoes score of 94.5, have won numerous awards including the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, and landed a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nom.

I have a strange feeling you're wrong.

I'll be honest, this really does feel like the media and/or studio is trying really hard to push this as some sort of black "breakthrough" movie, or whatever, and it just seems like they're trying way too hard. That Kendrick Lamar tweet about the album, Octavia Spencer renting out a whole theater, that kind of thing.

It almost feels like they want to replicate or capitalize on what Get Out did last year, except that happened organically, and this feels manufactured.

I don't know, it just feels a bit cheap to me. I realize I'll get blasted for saying it, but that's kind of where I am right now.
it's not get out they are trying to replicate at least not entirely. It's wonder woman

Get Out was also very specifically about race and tackled it in an incredibly novel and shocking way.

I think you have some people who are just excited for this film because it is a breakthrough in terms of the hero and cast for a film of this scale. Other folks are going to want to turn it into a bigger political statement, which is their prerogative.

If nothing else I hope it starts to make the point that the general film audience doesn't care about race so much as they do really good movies. And this one is looking awesome.

Much like Wonder Woman, they will benefit from an audience that, otherwise, wouldn't be interested in a superhero movie. I'ts already outpaced all other superhero movies in Fandango pre-sales. If it has the staying power/draw of Wonder Woman, I see Black Panther blowing away all "expectations."

I was midly excited to see WW. After all the DC failures, it was hard to get too excited. But when it killed it at the box office and with critics I started to get excited. When I finally saw it, it was just okay. Wasn't bad, but nothing special like it was hyped IMO. I have a feeling this could just be another just okay movie that everyone goes crazy for because of the cast & director. The difference for me is this is the MCU and I've been excited about Black Panther long before it was cool to be excited about a Black Panther movie.

I generally agree with you about WW, but I don't get how people would be genuinely concerned that Black Panther might just be ok.

Putting aside any socially minded hype, as an action movie fan the trailers and previews for this have looked fantastic and I've been excited to see more of this world since the last scene in Civil War. The MCU films have been "good" at worst, and the main character for this film had a great introduction and some memorable scenes in his one appearance so far. People are excited about the director because he's made two amazing films in his very short career, the cast is outstanding and includes a few Oscar winners and several other nominees, and all buzz has been overwhelmingly positive.

All signs point to this being outstanding.

I'd have thought the same thing, but early word is that Michael B Jordan is one of the best Marvel villains yet. Can't wait to see if that's true.

Man, this interview is actually getting me pretty hyped. What a cast they got.

Also, had no idea Daniel Kaluuya was in this.

That's the one thing the Ron Clark Academy is known for. Teachers and kids learning by singing and dancing in class.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. Just saying the main teaching strategy is connecting singing and dance on the desks with learning objectives literally every single day. What you see in that video IS exactly how the academy teaches classes.

1. No.

2. DC fanboys are doing this as well because their movies score less. You protesting that? They are likely to be in higher numbers that your theoretical alt-right racists.

There is a river of sewage flowing from "pol" and the "alt-right" in general, and we really need folks on Twitter to combat it. They've been ramping up the Panther "memes...."

But the latest attack is against the Joan of Arc Broadway play starring Condola Rashad.
